I'm wondering the same thing myself. A lot of people are concerned
with shadow noise and banding. Its actually pretty normal for
companies to prevent people from saving images on preproduction
cameras, but I don't know why people aren't allowed to talk about IQ.

If it were me I would just use the screw drive. SDM sucks anyways. I'd
be thankful pentax put in a screw drive for backwards compatibility, I
imagine they will get away from SDM entirely with new lenses.
