A couple of weeks ago I picked up a Vivitar Series 1 70-210/2.8-4 in mint
condition for a mere R350 (about $30). I tried it out during the dismal
(weather wise) w/e we had at Crystal Springs. I have ordered a x4 dioptre
for 1:1 macros.

I never owned one, but that lens has an long standing excellent reputation.

Hi Everyone:
I’ve been cleaning out a closet, and I found a Vivitar Automatic Tele Converter
2X-1. Am I right in assuming this is a screw-mount converter for Pentax-M42
something? Anyone know anything about this? Is it possible to use with DSLRs?
I’m assuming some kind of mount adapter
It will work, but it’s hardly worth it. You’d have to use an adapter on each
end, and the quality of those old Vivitar converters is not stellar. You can
probably find a K-mount version of a similar adapter for less than the cost of
the adapters. Of course what you really want is the new Pentax
quality is the 7 element Kormura Telemorse95 II.
These were very expensive and well worth the money. I somehow doubt
that the Vivitar is a rebadged Komura.

Vivitar sold a number of 70~75mm - 200~210mm lenses made by a number of

You mean it won't work in P-TTL mode right?
The AF200T, in addition to (film camera) TTL, also has a variable
manual mode and two auto modes which will work with any camera you put
it on (assuming the trigger voltage won't fry it).
Right. I should have more accurately

Found an AF-200FG for $20 when Wolf Camera was going out of business. It
does pretty much the same thing as the tiny Vivitar except it's dedicated.
The only problem I've had with it is the manual is not available for
download. I like to keep a PDF version of all the manuals for the
equipment

I have on my

Anyone have any thoughts on that one? Looks pretty small. Lots of features.

Okay, here's a strange request.
Was out shooting the other day. I very religiously avoid using flash,
but this particular instance I wanted a flash.
Nothing major, in fact, the smaller the better.
And I remembered years and years ago, I purchased a tiny Vivitar flash
from Wal-Mart for like $20
Of course, after I send the message ... I find it on my own.
It's a Vivitar 2000 with the bounce head.
Anyone have one stuck in a drawer they'd like to sell?

voltage is too high. I use it on the Kodak medalist,
(and the MX in the rare event I've actually loaded film in it).

I have doubts if I should post this, - but it might be useful to
somebody. Just be aware of the warning below.
http://www.1saleaday.com/ has yet another 1-day sale
for a digital slave flash - Vivitar SF3000:
$10 + $6 shipping (US only, I suspect).
