That is one of the things I dislike of SD cards. I have two for my Optio S and
S4. Both of them have loose switches.
I am sure there are plenty of hardship cases with both types of memory, but I
have never had a CF ever act up on me.

The switch one of my SD cards is loose and won't stay in the unlocked
position. I considered trying to glue it but the whole plastic casing
is terribly flimsy. One of the ridges on the bottom has broken off.
I wouldn't mind but it's one of my newest cards and my only 2Gb card as well.

My Little USB reader reads happily my 4GB Microdrive but noticed my
1GB Sandisk Ultra2+ (which is SD/USB combo card... very handy) will
not be read by the USB reader in SD card mode.

Look for a little sliding thing on the side of the card. It is a
mechanical switch.
