Welcome and it's called 'red eye reduction'.
The first flash gets your iris to close up so the 2nd flash can get a natural
looking picture...no goulish red eyes with people in the dark!

There main reason for the chaos is that I've let Photoshop assign
filenames autmatically, while I didn't scan the images in the same
order as they are on the films.

Spec looks confusing when it comes to Pentax compatibility. Does it have all
claimed features in Pentax model ? (1/16 power, compatibility with MZ/ZX line

Don't forget that the big players (Kodak, Fuji, Agfa) also supply
chemicals, paper, etc for photofinishing. Inkjet and dye sub printers
are very slow on any kind of quantities. The Fuji Frontier and Agfa
D-Lab printing systems do a great job with digital input and rapidly
and cheaply output
The one unknown with German D-EBEI markings seems to be Messerschmitt Bf-108 -
forefather of the famous Bf-109.

which model? i find that i use my 1270 about once a week to print something
and that is enough. i never need to clean the jets
