The new Nikon for medium format will probably hadle it.
I am not sure it has the 35mm masks for this but it covers enough area I would say.
The cost is way too high probably (I guess arround US $ 4000).

for a film scanner using this chip yet? That scanner will have
similar advantages
Unlikely, since film-scanners can take more time, they process the image line by line,
so the sensor is just one line of pixels (much cheaper)

other thing that could be better is tracking moving objects with the autofocus,
I noticed the Z1 does a much better job at that than the MZ3 does ...
