For Class M Edison upper bedplate numbers it's way high! I think the highest I
have seen is 39XXX. Maybe Amet had his own serial numbers stamped at Edison
factory?? Also, I noticed there are no mounting holes on the front where a
North American plate would have been affixed which could mean it

I have another Automatic, serial number 56941. Both of my Automatics
have the small hinge design. 56941 was issued to a 2 clip standard as
part of a Polyphone attachment as the rear reproducer. The attachment
did not require an adjusting arm because it was set screwed in. The

No there shouldn't be any difference in carriages. You will have to
carefully file down the outer circumference of the reproducer until it
fits. Look for any rough edges that might be causing it not to seat.

The horn is a reproduction and the case has been refinished. No
modifications are or were needed to put this carriage on a Model B. As
to why someone would set up this way is anyone's best guess. The
person probably had these parts available to make the machine complete
to sell.
