Hi Andres!

Thanks for your reply.. That is intresting there is no libiconv or icon
installed on my First Slackware machine where I have successfully installed
php.

But there is a libiconv installed on second Slackware machine.

2007-10-31 Thread Richard Heyes

...
Thanks for the help. I've got it installed now. In the end I found that
the server came with 5.1.6 installed (:/), which despite not being
5.2.x, is still a jump from the 5.0.x I had before.

[PHP] PHP installation

2007-10-30 Thread Richard Heyes

Hi,

Trying to install PHP, however it's failing with the following:

Configuring extensions
checking whether to enable LIBXML support... yes
checking libxml2 install dir... /usr/lib64
checking for xml2-config path... /usr/bin/xml2-config
checking whether libxml build works... no
configure: error: build test failed. Please check the config.log for
details.

The following is in config.log:

configure:20028: checking whether libxml build works
configure:20055: gcc -o conftest -g -O2 conftest.c

-lresolv -lm -ldl -lnsl -lxml2 -lz -lm 15
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lz
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
configure: failed program was:
#line 20044 configure
#include confdefs.h

char xmlInitParser();
int main() {
  xmlInitParser();
  return 0;
}

If it helps, this is a bit of an `ls -l` of /usr/lib64:

libxml2.so - libxml2.so.2.6.27
libxml2.so.2 - libxml2.so.2.6.27
libxml2.so.2.6.19
libxml2.so.2.6.27

And this is what's at the end of my config.log:

configure:19793: checking whether to enable LIBXML support
configure:19841: checking libxml2 install dir
configure:19870: checking for xml2-config path
configure:20028: checking whether libxml build works
configure:20055: gcc -o conftest -g -O2 conftest.c

-lresolv -lm -ldl -lnsl -lxml2 -lz -lm 15
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lz
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
configure: failed program was:
#line 20044 configure
#include confdefs.h

char xmlInitParser();
int main() {
  xmlInitParser();
  return 0;
}

Thanks.

Umm help?

Thanks.

Richard, sorry for leaving you hanging this afternoon.

Try this:
find /lib /usr/lib -iname libz\* -ls

You should see:

/lib/libz.so.1 - libz.so.1.2.3
/lib/libz.so.1.2.3
/usr/lib/libz.so.1 - libgz.so.1

ls /usr/lib/libgz*

/usr/lib/libgz.so.1 - /lib/libz.so.1*

Your libz is in the right place, but check your symlinks.

Well it's trying to save here:

C:\DOCUME~1\Ross\LOCALS~1\Temp\php\upload\

You can either create the path, make sure it has appropriate permissions.

Did you recompile apache after running php's make install? Using
--with-apache builds a module that gets compiled *into* apache (as opposed
to --with-apxs which creates a dynamic module), ie. you need to rebuild
apache after building php. My guess is the gzinflate error probably comes
from an old php module.

RE: [PHP] PHP Installation question

I'm thinking though that this isn't really the problem. When I install
Slackware, I install everything (except for games). On my older PC I
installed version 8.1 and had no problems, but now with version 10 I have
problems. I'm pretty sure that zlib-dev or zlib-devel has never been
included in either version of Slack. So I think I'm just going around in
circles with this.

Thoughts..

Zlib is different to zlib-dev/zlib-devel.

The zlib package only contains the binaries and man pages.

The zlib-devel package contains the header files (zlib.h for example) you
need for compiling against it.

locate zlib.h

if that returns nothing, then the problem is still that you need the
zlib-dev package installed.

If it does return something then what does it return ? Maybe you need to
specify the path to zlib in the php configure line.

Check if you have zlib-devel or zlib-dev package installed. You need
this to be able to compile support into other applications.

No idea how you do this on slackware.

Also try specifying the path to zlib:

--with-zlib=/usr for example.

Install the mysql-dev/devel /or mysql-client packages most likely.

Or point it to the right directory. You need to point it to the base of
the mysql package. Eg if mysql is installed in /usr/local/mysql (so
binaries are under /usr/local/mysql/bin libs are in
/usr/local/mysql/lib) then

Try using phpinfo().

http://us2.php.net/manual/en/function.phpinfo.php

In particular you want to pay attention to the $_SERVER variables
(search for PHP Variables in the phpinfo() output).

Did you fix this problem yet? The lines below are fine for your apache
httpd.conf file. The only thing that appears out of the ordinary is the
location of libphp4.so.

In my setup (I'm also using Red Hat and Apache 2.0), when I compile PHP,
it places libphp4.so in the modules directory (/etc/httpd/modules),
which is where I would think it should be on your system, so try

I think I know what I did wrong...

I should place the test.php file under the Document_Root directory and I should be
bringing up the test.php file on the browser address as: http://localhost/test.php
right???

What I was doing before was just going to the browser's File -- Open -- and
specified the path to /tmp/php/test.php

Please let me know, thank you.

I also noticed that you're using .php and .phps in your AddType
statement. Take out the dot (.) so that it's just php and phps. That
may be the cause of the problem.

I am running Apache 2.0.49 and PHP 4.3.7, but that shouldn't make too
 much difference.

Did you check to make sure that libphp4.so is, in fact, in your modules
directory? Also, use the AddType statements instead of the
SetOutputFilter and SetInputFilter statements. Just make sure that
you're using the AddType statements /after/ you load the module with
LoadModule. I do not believe they should come before the LoadModule
 statement in the httpd.conf file.

Here's how it looks in my file:

 LoadModule php4_module modules/libphp4.so
 AddType application/x-httpd-php php
 AddType application/x-httpd-php-source phps

 LoadModule php4_module modules/libphp4.so

Do you have apache v2.0.48 running with php v4.3.6?

 Any thoughts?

Did you fix this problem yet? The lines below are fine for your
apache httpd.conf file. The only thing that appears out of the
ordinary is the location of libphp4.so.

In my setup (I'm also using Red Hat and Apache 2.0), when I compile
PHP, it places libphp4.so in the modules directory
(/etc/httpd/modules), which is where I would think it should be on
your system, so try changing that line to:

 LoadModule php4_module modules/libphp4.so

Of course, check to make sure the file is in that location first, as I
could be way off. Then, restart apache and try to access your
 test.php script.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against

[PHP] PHP installation problem in FreeBSD OS.

2004-03-22 Thread Naveen Glore
Hello All,
I am not sure if this is the right place to post this problem. I tried with FreeBSD
mailing list but could not get much help.

I am having hard time in installing php4 using portupgrade in FreeBSD.

First i have updated the port directory using cvsup. I am doing fresh installation of
php so i gave the following command.

portupgrade -NPRri mod_php4.

I noticed mysql3.23.51 got updated to mysql3.23.58_2. All the other dependencies also
had no problem in updating. However the php installation was not successful. At the
end of installation i got the following errors.

Command failed [exit code 1] /usr/bin/script -qa /tmp/portupgrade23698.1 make

mysql-client-3.23.58 is already installed or may be older version blah blah blah...
you can uninstall and reinstall mysql blah blah blah ...to install correctly. If you
really want to override without deleting use FORCE_PICG_REGISTER blah blah

I also tried to install php after doing make clean in
/usr/ports/databases/mysql323-client but it did not help me.
Any pointer would be very helpful. Thanks in advace.

Naveen.

[PHP] PHP Installation Questions

2004-01-12 Thread Freedomware
I'm running Windows XP Pro and just installed Apache 1.3. It appears to
be running, so I guess I'm ready to install PHP.

I visited http://snaps.php.net and downloaded the latest PHP program -
CVS (5.0.x-dev). I'm reading the installation instructions at
http://cvs.php.net/co.php/php-src/win32/install.txt and find them fairly
confusing.

First, it says, There are two main ways to install PHP for Windows:
either manually or by using the InstallShield installer.

I definitely want to do it the easy way, but how do I access the
InstallShield installer?

But it appears that I first have to do two other things:

1. Stop Apache

2. Decide whether I want to install PHP as a CGI or something else (a
module?)

So how do I stop Apache, and should I install PHP as a CGI or choose the
other option? I'm going to be using PHP on websites, primarily to make
server side includes and, eventually, to do some work with databases.

The instructions say, Once the installation has completed the installer
will inform you if you need to restart your system, restart the server,
or just start using PHP.

I assume this refers to using the InstallShield, which renders just
about everything else on the installation instructions page moot, right?

If I use the InstallShield, will I still have to install the Windows
extensions, or are they installed automatically?

Later, the instructions talk about Installing PHP on Windows with Apache
1.3.x. It says, There are two ways to set up PHP to work with Apache
1.3.x on Windows. One is to use the CGI binary (php.exe), the other is
to use the Apache module dll. In either case you need to stop the Apache
server, and edit your httpd.conf or srm.conf to configure Apache to work
with PHP. We'll refer to either of these files with httpd.conf in the text.

Is this all done automatically if I use the InstallShield?

Thanks.

I don't want to sound like a jerk, but most of the questions you have
been asking are thoroughly documented on places like the PHP and Apache
websites, and in the README files. This list is here to help, but it's
best if you do a bit of research first before posting a question to it.
Check the documentation of the app you have a question about first, if
you don't find the answer there, try Google, if still no luck, then this
list is a good next stop. As for your questions

RE: [PHP] PHP Installation Problems

2003-10-13 Thread Daniel Perez Clavero
RE: [PHP] PHP Installation ProblemsThis is my experience, I never chose the
PHP installation pack, I prefer the uncompressed version, modify the php.ini
and put the right dlls into the WINNT\System32 folder... I do not know what
windows is going to permit to the installation program (registry entries,
dlls substitution, etc).

I am running PHP 4.3.0 over W2K Advanced Server, but not using IIS, i´m
using Apache 1.3.27 as web server. Everything works fine.

I suggest that.

1.- Try to execute from the command line an easy script such php_info(),
Hello world or something like that in order to see if PHP is working.
2.- Try to lauch web browser and go to the root of the server in order to
see if webserver is working properly

If both are working, i suposed the error is that the webserver is not able
to understand that this request has to managed by php.exe

review this useful article por PHP on IIS

http://www.onlamp.com/pub/a/php/2000/12/14/php_admin.html

if you are running Apache, review the paths and extensions of httpd.conf
specially theese entries.

ServerRoot
LoadModule php4_module [path of the php4apache.dll)
AddModule mod_php4.c
Port
DocumentRoot
Directory and DirectoryIndex
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php

Ok, Well I tried to install php 4.3.3 on a windows 2000 advanced server
box and it said that some ocx file was missing and I needed to set some
permissions. So I set the permissions both in active directory on the
domain controller and on the local machine I had just installed php on. Php
sccripts then loaded in IE as plain text (i could see the code). I ran a
windows update on the server box and that has fixed the missing ocx file so
I can't tell you what that file was exactly. However upon re-installation
of php 4.3.3 I was told at the end of the install process that again I had
to set the correct permissions. These are set. The confusing thing is that
now I cannot even open the php pages as plain text in IE, instead the
browser tells me that the page doesn't exist. Please try and shed some
light on the situations as the company I am working for so far has only a
mailto: link in the contact page because I can't program asp.

  Please Help

  Thanks and Kind Regards

[PHP] PHP installation on IIS

2003-09-03 Thread Sid
Hello everyone,

This is the first time I am installing PHP on IIS and I don't know what I am doing
wrong. I copied the default php.ini file to the winnt dir.
Then I added an ISAPI extention with .php to the App Mapings tab. (ISAPI caching
enabled)
Then I made a test.php file with
?php
   phpinfo();
?
but ll I see is the source code when I access this page.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thank you,

1. Make sure php4isapi.dll is in the same directory as php.exe

2. Make sure the IIS user (typically IUSR_computername) has read permissions
to c:\php (or wherever you put PHP)

3. Don't skip adding the ISAPI filter. I don't know why the instructions say
this as it never works unless you do it.

4. Make sure you restart IIS after the changes.

If that still doesn't work, let me know. If it doesn't work, open up the
ISAPI Filter tab and see if you have a red or green arrow next to the PHP
Filter.

[PHP] PHP Installation on Redhat 8 - General Questions

2002-11-13 Thread Lee P. Reilly
Hi there,

I wonder if someone could answer a few questions for me? First of all,
excuse my ignorance as I'm somewhat of a Linux newbie. I have installed
PHP, Apache, Mysql, etc. on Windows numerous times, but have found the
Linux installation to be more troublesome due in part (more likely in
whole) to my lack of Linux experience.

Following the instructions for setting up on PHP 4.x for Apache 1.x.x on
the URL,
http://www.e-gineer.com/instructions/install-php4x-for-apache1xx-on-linux.phtml
I installed PHP as a module under Apache. I am using JPGraph which
requires the GD graphics library, so after installing PHP with the basic
options, I decided to reinstall it with GD support. Here is what I did
to accomplish this:

In my PHP directory, I removed the config.cache file, did a 'make clean'
and recompiled as follows:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
./configure \
--with-config-file-path=/www/conf \
--with-apache=../apache_1.3.27 \
--with-png-dir=/usr/local \
--with-gd=/usr/local \
--with-zlib \
--enable-track-vars
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
This seemed to be successful!

In the Apache directory, I did a 'make clean' and and recompiled as
follows:
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
./configure \
--with-layout=Apache \
--prefix=/usr/local/httpd \
--sysconfdir=/www/conf \
--enable-module=rewrite \
--enable-module=status \
--activate-module=src/modules/php4/libphp4.a
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Typed 'make'
Stopped Apache
Typed 'make install'
Started Apache

This also seemed to be successful.

However, phpinfo() generates information from the previous install. The
configure command generated by phpinfo() is
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
 './configure' '--with-config-file-path=/www/conf'
'--with-apache=../apache_1.3.27' '--enable-track-vars'
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
And the build date show the time/date when I built it yesterday.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Can anyone suggest a reason for this? Is there something I am doing
wrong?

Thanks very much in advance for your help!

- Best regards,
Lee Reilly

Re: [PHP] PHP Installation on Redhat 8 - General Questions

2002-11-13 Thread BigDog
What you need to do is go into your apache_1.3.26/src/modules/php4
directory and and clean out the libphp files.

1. Stop apache.
2. Remove lib files from apache_1.3.26/src/modules/php4
3. Do a make clean in apaches top dir.
4. Do a make clean in php top dir.
5. Remove config.cache in php dir.
6. Then recompile php - make - make install
7. Then recompile apache - make - make install
8. Restart apache
9. View phpinfo()

Should work now..

[PHP] PHP installation _ help needed

2002-11-10 Thread Bob G
Hi people!
I have MySQL working with ASP under win2000 and IIS. I have recently
tried unsuccessfully to install PHP. Initially I started with zip binary
distribution. I tested it with:-
html
head
titlePHP Test/title
meta http-equiv=Content-Type content=text/html; charset=iso-8859-1
/head

body bgcolor=#FF text=#00
?php echo Hello Worldp; ?
/body
/html
Couldn't be much simpler!

Nothing worked but view source showed the above code. The implication
being that the sever did not parse the code.
I then deleted every thing and tried InstallShield with exactly the same
result.
I have reinstalled IIS - no change
I have added PHP to the application mapping.
I have given exec permissions to C:/PHP
The setup instructions say that I must rename PHP TO PHP.INI in WINNT and
that is all. Is this true. If not what precisely must I do?
Failing the .INI question I think I have done everything in the OPINS. But
you guys will know better. What have I missed?
All thoughts gratefully appreciated
Thanks Bob

[PHP] PHP Installation problem - httpd.conf issue?

2002-11-04 Thread Lee Philip Reilly
Hi there,

I recently upgraded from PHP version 4.0-ish to 4.2.3 on my Linux/Apache
machine. AFAIK, Apache is setup correctly (it serves HTML) and PHP
works, but only from the command line. If I type php -q php.php
test.html the output of phpinfo() is stored in test.html. When I try
and look at test.html running on localhost it display sfine, but when I
try and view php.php, as save as window pops up. I am not too familar
with Linux. If it was a Windows installation then I would make sure the
Action application (path to php.exe) line was correct, but I can't find
this in the Linux httpd.conf. Does this issue sound familar to anyone.
Could anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks very much.

Lee Reilly

[PHP] PHP Installation under WinXP Apache 2.0.39

I have a small problem I'm not able to solve.

I wanted to install PHP 2.2.3 under WinXP together with an
Apache 2.0.39, but after installation and reconfiguration of
all Ini's and conf files the service did not start again.

After starting the Apache manually from command´line it
stops with the following error (translatet from german) :

Syntax Error on line 174 of C:/Webverzeichnis/bin/apache/conf: Cannot load
C:/Webverzeichnis/bin/php/sapi/php4apache2.dll into server:
Procedure could not be found.

All Pathes are correct.

What causes this error? Is it an failure in php.ini or what did i do wrong.

Please gimme a hint.

Don't you think it might be a good idea to do so? That's what I always
do.

Best,

Tony

[PHP] PHP Installation

2002-09-18 Thread Sascha Braun

Hi Peops,

I need some help for an PHP Installation.

I did uninstall my apache on my domain. I reinstalled it again and now want to install
PHP again.

I believe all option in httpd.conf are correct. My Linux Distribution is: RedHat 7.3

I looked into the Modules Direktory from Apache and I could find an libphp4.so, but no
mod_php.
I did download the final release of PHP 4.2.3 and started to ./configure it.

It told me at last something about the cgi installation and some things i dont
understand,
so i feel very insecure.

Please help me a little.

Sascha Braun

[PHP] PHP Installation Problem

2002-07-31 Thread Mark Colvin

Thanks all. I have now resolved. For future reference, the problem was as
you said, I didn't have php configured for mysql support. I traced this back
to the installation of the operating system, Red Hat 7.2. Through the
graphical installation, all php modules apart from mysql support and odbc
support are installed by default. These two have to be specifically chosen,
which I didn't do. Anyway problem now resolved

[PHP] PHP Installation Problem

2002-07-30 Thread Mark Colvin

I have a development web server php 4.0.6 apache and mysql and everything
works OK. I installed the same software onto a new server that will be the
production server but I hit problems when my scripts try and hit the db on
the new server. Comparing the phpinfo details for both, the new server does
not have a mysql section it. I copied the original php.ini onto the new
server and restarted apache after the installation. Where have I missed this
in the installation process and how should I resolve it?
As an aside question, is there any glaring issues I may encounter if I
upgrade php to 4.2.2 from 4.0.6?

Well, how did you do the install? You really need to provide more
details. Heck, any details. You don't mention your OS, whether you
compiled from source, if so which configure flags, from packages, which
packages, etc.. We are not mind readers.

Re: [PHP] PHP Installation Problem

2002-07-30 Thread Tyler Longren

I'm not sure exactly what you're saying, but it sounds to me like you
didn't configure --with-mysql for the new server. You MUST do that.
./configure --with-apxs=/blah/blah --with-mysql

If you don't have --with-mysql compiled into the php binary, mysql
functions won't work.

That's because the php on the new server was not compiled with mysql support.

I copied the original php.ini onto the new
server and restarted apache after the installation.

That wouldn't help.

 Where have I missed

reconfigure php to include mysql support.

As an aside question, is there any glaring issues I may encounter if I
upgrade php to 4.2.2 from 4.0.6?

Quite a few, read the release notes/chagelog/history, read the php.ini.

RE: [PHP] PHP Installation Win98/Apache error....

So I'm trying to install PHP on win98 with Apache2.

I got these nice instructions from...

 http://www.webmasterbase.com/article.php?pid=30aid=525

After I make the following addition to my httpd.conf file, I get an
error when I try to start Apache again...

 ADDITION TO HTTPD.CONF:
 LoadModule php4_module c:/php/sapi/php4apache.dll

That looks like an Apache 1 instruction, which won't work with Apache 2 -- I suggest
you cast around for some equally nice Apache 2 instructions (preferably ones which
point out that PHP for Apache 2 is still experimental, and has some known major bugs
only fixed in the PHP 4.3.0 development version).

Cheers!

Mike

One other thing - One part of the instructions said to do this...

Find the file called php4ts.dll in the PHP folder and copy it to the
System32 subfolder of your Windows folder (e.g. C:\Windows\System32).

Well, there is no php4ts.dll file anywhere on my PC. There is however
a php4ts.lib file. Maybe this has something to do with it?

Thanks for your help!!!

You missed a step in copying DLLs. I don't remember which one, but it's the
dll files found in
c:\php

only packages with major numbers = 3 are supported by this version of RPM)
Any hints are appreciated!
