As a fellow Debian user, a good place to start for participating in and
contributing to the Debian community is https://www.debian.org/intro/help

Thanks for the suggestion. I wrapped the URL in double quotes and ran 'file'
on the downloaded result. It is an mp4 so I renamed it so it makes sense.

Wes,
Yep, quotes make the difference. I didn't pay attention to the string and
missed seeing this.
Much appreciated,

I was sent a URL to a long series of characters at https://clicks.aweber.com/

but I'd like to download the file and watch it using local software.

are you trying to install the 173 driver from the .run file you listed?

I just got off of Michael B's demo of this. It is quite similar to

something inherently more secure, but it does generally insulate you
from a company

Lousy subject line? *PROBABLY* Suggestions welcome ;}
About a decade ago I got fed up with M$ telling me that they knew more
about my needs than I.
Responding to an application oriented question on a USENET forum, a PLUG
member suggested I try Ubuntu. Canonical had made design decisions

Hi all,
This could just be extreme paranoia on my part, but it's worth the
investigation.
I see that several PLUG members are researching an alternative to in-person
meetings. One option that was mentioned was FreeConferenceCall.com.

All,
I'm here for the software and personal freedom. I see open source/free
software as one of the best strategies (regardless of the specifics), to
achieve more personal freedom for all individuals. If I were to have a
smart home, it would HAVE to be based on open source software and I want

I've an on-line conference (using Zoom) from 10:00-11:30 today and need to
