I followed the instructions and installed mplayer as described (after I
had worked out how to view hidden files). Alien BBC works fine.

The note on the AlienBBC wesbite was specific to the Unofficial build of
mplayer on that website. At the time there was no official mplayerhq
1.0pre8 build for OSX which was necessary version for the live radio
streams. As a service to other OSX users the mplayer was hosted.

which i can play no problem off the website,
my problem is i cant play through my squeezebox,ive been in server
settings and put my user and password names in the correct boxes then
gone to home and tried to play from interface and squeezebox i just get

Once you get to the mplayer installation part of the alienBBC
installation for mac instructions, download the file that you are
pointed to. It is a compressed file, if you double click it it should
uncompress (stufitt expander works if it doesn't uncompress on your

Well, that could be confusing,
Has anyone done a graphical phases of the moon screen saver? I'd be
interesed in a date/time screensaver that also displays an image of the
current moon phase. I don't know if it would need to be so precise that
it needs to know the user's timezone, but it might be nice.

You need to have MusicIP started before Slimserver so that slimserver
sees the musicIP service. There are tips on the forum for how to set
this up so that both are services. If you run MusicIP manually, then
you will need to restart slimserver after starting MusicIP. You can
confirm that
I think you need to do a (full) rescan of your library so that SS can
pick up the MM data and add it to the database.

I created a last.fm account today. I've played several songs on my
Squeezebox but they're not showing up on my account. How long is the
delay from the time a song plays until it shows up on my last.fm
account?
Depends on how reliable last.fm's database is. It seems fine for me
today (and their status post in the forum says it's all up but weekly
charts are delayed...).

I think it was a bad user name/password. I had originally mistyped my
user name, but fixed it without changing the password (because it was
correct). I resubmitted them and things are now appearing on last.fm.
Turning on d_plugins was helpful in figuring it out. Thanks!
