The main difference here is that sorry does not really stream as such.
Typical streaming send data in small chunks (think of live radio). In a
fast connection, spotty gets files downloaded on a matter of seconds.
But that's how other streaming services (Pandora, Napster, Tidal...)
behave, too.
In the convert.conf - does spotty read data from an URL or process a
byte stream from LMS stdin so that LMS gets the data initially.
It's reading bytes from the spotty helper, which would download from a
remote source. But as sle118 mentioned: it's track based, not a single
stream.

I've recompiled the windows socket wrapper with a small change that only

So after giving my issue more thoughts, I ended up blaming the windows

18.04 + LMS 7.9.1
System: SB Touch
I am drawing blanks trying to get the Spotty plugin to start in Ubuntu
18.04. I pick it in the plug-in settings, restart the LMS, and yet it
never comes up as an active plugin.
Do you wait for the plugin manager to ask you to restart? It can take a
few seconds to download.

I have no chance with using Spotty since last Summer. After numerous
restarts I have succeed to install the plugin. However, now the LMS
crashes when I try to enter the spotify credentials at the parameters
page, I see the following in the server.log:
What OS are you using? What hardware?
I've been banging my head against the wall on an issue which prevents me
from enjoying Spotty. First I thought something was wrong with my
SqueezeAmp and started looking in the logs to see if I could get some
insights. Eventually, I realized something was wrong on the server
side.

Hello
I have no chance with using Spotty since last Summer. After numerous
restarts I have succeed to install the plugin. However, now the LMS
crashes when I try to enter the spotify credentials at the parameters
page, I see the following in the server.log:
[19-10-25 18:14:18.1582]
/spotty-x86_64 -n test --check
ok spotty v0.20.0
{"debug":false,"lms-auth":true,"ogg-direct":true,"version":"0.20.0","volume-normalisation":true}
That's perfect. I don't really know why Spotty wouldn't work then...

What happens if you run
/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/Spotty/Bin/i386-linux/spotty-x86_64
from the command line?
I get told to specify the device name and the list of options is listed.
Which means it is there and does work. Hmm... No idea what happens
there.
