Hi Martin, I find it more logical the way you named the packages now. @Cut-Throat as Pinkdot explains in the first post (OP), his packages are newer and contain some bug fixes compared to Synologys beta. The packages on SourceForge is 'LmsUpdate' but only the file name is
based on the package name of Synology:

Would changing the package name to
.spk
be more logical to you?

Not sure if I understand the question. The packages at Sourceforge are a
continuation of LmsUpdate. These packages are based on the latest
Synology Beta packages, just like LmsUpdate was, and updated with the
latest commits made on github. The Armada38x will also be added to
SourceForge when its ready.
As with LmsUpdate, the SourceForge packages need to be installed
manually as well.

:D, that must be it. Most names are derived from the manufacturers
product names. And since they use quite a few manufacturers (Realtek,
ST, Annapurna Labs, Mindspeed, Marvell), a naming convention (based on
arch's) is not part of the Synology strategy.;)
One thing is consistent though: different architecture name, different
binaries -> different LMS packages.

Looking at the version number this build is somewhere from August 2017
(?), so the new build would have all commits included after that date.

Sometimes it starts complaining about the port already being used. A
reboot is required to remove these port settings and make it possible to
install a new package.

Why would you do that, there is no repo anymore. And LmsUpdate was never

talking about LmsUpdate, which always needs a manual installation.

version, yes. Or, you have to change the version number manually
everytime you want to update the package.

Ok, so I have downloaded the LogitechMediaServer-armada375-7.9.1-166.0003.spk for my Synology 115. I stop the current version, I shut down players. I stop the running package. I click manual installation, upload package, and select the file destination on my NAS. Before, I have ticked trust every publisher and I have added LMSRepack as package source. So, why doesn't it update? Do I have to do a complete reinstall? If you have LmsRepack running: no.
If you have LmsUpdate running: yes. You can copy your settings to an
accessable folder, remove the current install, install the new version.
Make sure LMS isn't running, and replace the settings.

Ok, I just checked, but the current version of LMS for your nas should

There are no updates in DSM5 that will break the current builds. Because
Synology doesn't update DSM5 anymore, except for security patches, I
don't see this happen in the future neither.
I will update the DSM6 packages this weekend. I'll might even add DSM5
to the list.

I never tried this myself, and don't know if this could work, but if the
upnp-bridge is running as a LMS plugin, step 1 is succesful.
Step 2: you could try to install Audio Station and Media Server on your
Syno and see if LMS can see Audio station.

Yes, Synology provides a 7.9.1 package in the beta channel of Package
Center. This is unfortunately a bit of a sloppy build in my perspective.
But, ... all functions needed by most, work good ;)

I stopped maintaining LmsRepack. Also LmsUpdate is no longer maintained,
except for 2 arch's -> https://sourceforge.net/projects/lmsupdate/
I'm not going to do builds of all architectures (!), but do ask if you
want an updated build for your arch (send me a PM).

even before 'A'.

I have a number of Albums that habe "Various Artists" as the Album Artist. Interestingly when I browse for Various Artists with the Squeezebox touch or in the Squeezbox Web Interface, Various Artists gets listed under S, not under V (see attachment). needed. The project I was part of in Portugal is on hold and at least
postponed till September (kids and wife happy ;-)

Hi Gehard,
Its a strange company when it comes to maintaining LMS. Packages are a
mess, are not following their own 'new' package structure/guidelines,
and indeed, most binaries are outdated or stripped down or even missing
when it comes to LAME, and they still promote 7.7.6 as the official
package.
If you ask me, Synology is responsible for the binaries/libraries. I
already asked them about LAME in the past.
So, you might want to contact them for support.
Normally they reply within a few weeks and tell you they forwarded the
suggestions to their development department ...

However, the real problem on Synology is that crippled, outdated sox version which is included in LMS/CPAN. There is no understandable reason to me why no current version of sox is included for the newer ARM architectures like it is for Intel. Who do I need to talk to? Good to know! FYI, DS114 is ARMv7. The version in Ralphy's folder are
used for RPi if I'm not mistaken. Don't know if they can be used for
Synology.

Plugin is for x86_64 arch only, not for ARM based nas like you have
(DS114).
Nevertheless, you should be able to add the repo, but the plug-in won't
work!

Do this when you inside your local network.
-Just go to LMS 9002.
-Go out the settings page --> choose Plugins tab. At the bottom you
will find the Additional Repositories.
-Add the given URL.
-Take a screenshot of the input field if it fails again.

Since SourceForge is so popular these days, I stored the DSDPlayer
plugin there, allowing you to add the repo and make sure the plugin is
installed in the correct directory in LMS:
Just add the repo to the ' Additional Repositories' on the LMS plugins
tab.

Also a cleaned up and updated version of the Synology x86_64 can be
found on SourceForge. This SPK-package needs to be installed manually
via the Package Manager in DSM. 'Trust all Publishers' in Package

The title tells the tale. Thank you all ... I was trying to get LMS and Softsqueeze to work on a Raspberry Pi 3 and saw The word Synology. I have a DS209 that has the family music backed up for emergencies and realized that if I could get LMS working I might be better off than with a Rpi. It worked! I now have all my music plus Pandora playing to my Bluetooth headset or speaker via my kindle FIRE HD 8 to anywhere within WIFI range. once again ... THANK YOU!
