OK, so this took some time. I haven't been able to get a working docker/mDNS setup with a "sidecar" avahi container (reflector). As mentioned, the easiest option is to have the container running with a dedicated IP on the network. MACVLAN is the de facto option but as it creates a dedicated MAC address, it doesn't work if the docker host is a VMware guest with the default security settings, because they forbid MAC address forgery. Instead, I went down the IPVLAN route and this works fine. Also, I have a common backend network between this container and an haproxy container, because I also want to have the UI on TLS (the players are still doing plaintext http on port 9000, though). I created the IPVLAN network with this command: Code: docker network create -d ipvlan --subnet a.b.c.0/24 --ip-range a.b.c.64/28 --gateway a.b.c.1 -o parent=eth0 myipvlan And this is my docker-compose file Code: version: '3.8' services: lms: image: lmscommunity/logitechmediaserver:stable container_name: lms restart: unless-stopped logging: driver: journald options: tag: lms volumes: - ./config:/config - /mnt/music:/music - ./playlist:/playlist - /usr/share/zoneinfo/Europe/Zurich:/etc/localtime:ro environment: - PUID=1000 - PGID=1000 networks: myipvlan: ipv4_address: a.b.c.64 haproxy_back: ports: - 9000:9000/tcp - 9090:9090/tcp - 3483:3483/tcp - 3483:3483/udp networks: myipvlan: external: name: myipvlan haproxy_back: external: true Cheers and thanks for the hints! flashpaz's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=67942 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115592 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Thanks. I guess it was too good to be true when it worked beautifully on my Boom, and the Volume Down on the Classic worked. I'm not familiar with how IR blaster works. But the Spotty integration, as I mentioned, only deals with absolute values, not increase/decrease. Therefore setting a volume of 60 would obviously lower than the fixed 100. Maybe this is resulting in volume down you're seeing. What other UIs do you use to control volume on your amp? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Spotty 4.7.0
I've just started using Spotify Connect (on iPhone) to drive Spotty on my Classic and noticed when I turn volume up via Spotify it turns the volume DOWN on the classic. Running Spotty 4.7.3 on LMS 8.2.1 Using a Squeezebox Classic connected to an AV Receiver. The Classic is set with audio volume fixed at 100%. It is configured with IR Blaster, so when the Classic receives a Volume UP command it sends an infrared Volume Up command to the Receiver. This configuration works normally (volume up and down) when using standard Squeezebox remote. With Spotify though, a Volume Up command from Spotify ends up in the classic sending (via IR Blaster) a volume DOWN infrared command. Given there's a few moving parts here, I'm unsure what may be causing the strange behaviour, but feel it's something that's not handling the fixed 100% volume setting on the classic correctly. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Spotty 4.7.0
Hi, I tried to reproduce the problem. Started a song from the recommendations, automatically played the next song, then I skipped to the next and Spotty got stuck. I believe the ":recommended" lookup failure has been a red hering all the time. Yes, it's something that should not happen. But it likely has nothing to do with what is stopping playback. Here's what I understand happened: - around 18:57 playback of Tori Amos' "A Sorta Fairytale" (5:28) started - around 19:03:00 Spotty requested the next track, as we approached the end of the previous track - around 19:03:11 Tanita Tikaram started "Valentine Heart" (4:06) - 19:04:43 Spotify told Spotty to play the next track (likely you hitting the "Next" button): "Got called from spotty helper for 00:04:20:...: change" - 19:04:44 Spotty is told next should be REM's "Everybody hurts" (5:20) - 19:04:47 another "Next" event - 19:04:48 next track is Pink's "Dear Mr. President" - 19:04:48.5609 Spotify tells us to stop playback And during all this time there are some of those failures to lookup tracks for the :recommend playlist. And something else seems to be have one of your Spotify playlists queued up in Spotty/LMS mode? Bryan Ferry, Jason Mraz, A Fine Frenzy, Cranberries, Maroon 5... tracks are looked up regularly. Does this make sense? So whatever is causing the playback to stop, we're not really closer. But I don't think it's the ":recommended" appendix in the playlist URI. Would playback end, too, if you didn't hit "Next" but just let it play? Is it nearing the end of the recommendations in the Spotify app? ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

So are others seeing the issue with Spotty stopping a few seconds into a song, pausing about 10 seconds, then carrying on (sometimes) or just outright stopping? Doesn't happen on 100% of songs, but most of them. Has started in the last week or two. I have checked, am not using British English in LMS, I have re-authorised Spotty (after deleting everything in the cache dir related to spotty). No other network issues/changes and we use Spotty here daily for the last few years without issues. (LMS running as a docker, updated just now, with latest everything. I noticed that the 2 AVRs are _still_ options when the iPhone is _not_ connected to the local wifi and the phone is using just data. The app is able to stream to them without any issue! It's a feature, not a bug: Spotify either discovers players in your network, or asks Spotify's servers whether there was any device connected which you recently used. The latter is the case when you're seeing devices at home while on the road. This feature can be disabled in the Spotify apps. There have been times when my wife is miles away, using data, connected to the gym’s Bluetooth on her iPhone, and her playlist will play through the USBAudioPlayer app on my Pixel in my car, even though I have selected something from my library! Meanwhile, her playlist has stopped playing in the gym! Needless to say, she has found it to be quite annoying as it interrupts her class. You can only ever play to one single Spotify Connect endpoint at any time. So if playback starts in your car, all other devices would stop. How this transfer happens is another question. It could be something about the players, or the apps you use to control them (USBAudioPlayer, Spotify, LMS...) ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Spotty 4.7.0
I have a very peculiar issue which I am hoping that someone can help me troubleshoot. I believe that the root of the issue may be with Spotify, but I am not sure. Here goes: My wife has a Spotify account and uses her playlists for when she instructs her group exercise classes. I installed spotty on my LMS server using her account. Spotify on her iPhone recognizes the 2 Marantz AVRs in the house for output options when connected via wifi to the local network. She has never connected to either of the piCoreplayers on the network. I noticed that the 2 AVRs are _still_ options when the iPhone is _not_ connected to the local wifi and the phone is using just data. The app is able to stream to them without any issue! Can someone else confirm that is consistent with their phone? I dont understand how it connects to local devices when it is not connected to the local network. I have been able to 'forget' the 2 AVRs from the choices on Spotify when using data, but they just pop up again and remain as choices when they are selected when using local wifi. So, here is the weird part. I uses my android cellphone (Google Pixel 3A) to connect to LMS over data by using OpenVPN and the VPN option on my router. I use Android Auto (in my Subaru) to play USBAudioPlayerPro through UPNP on LMS. Usually there are no issues. There have been times when my wife is miles away, using data, connected to the gyms Bluetooth on her iPhone, and her playlist will play through the USBAudioPlayer app on my Pixel in my car, even though I have selected something from my library! Meanwhile, her playlist has stopped playing in the gym! Needless to say, she has found it to be quite annoying as it interrupts her class. At first I thought this may be an Android Auto issue, but the same thing has happened when I use her car (which doesnt have Android auto) and I use VPN, Bluetooth, and Squeezeplayer and Material Skin. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? It is quite bizarre! I can supply more documentation if needed. stereoptic's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=53162 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115592 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Hi, I think I already wrote in detail what I did in my previous posts, but anyway... I use: Spotify App on Android LMS Version 8.3.0. Spotty Version 4.7.2. I selected one of my playlists (but didn't start it) then scrolled down to 'reccomended songs' selected one. After this song other songs of the 'recommended'-list are started automatically. It's still not clear to me what you're doing. I assume you're using the Spotify app? What I don't understand is that you're talking about adding/playing tracks. In Connect mode Spotty would only be dealing with tracks. It doesn't know what playlist you're playing, nor what album. It only asks Spotify to tell it what track to play next. But the call causing errors is Spotty trying to get tracks for the playlist "0hqXvXIavFHIjGqiZyOAKa:recommended" - which IMHO is an invalid playlist ID. That's why I'm wondering where that playlist ID came from, what Spotty is trying to do there, and why. Can you share step by step instructions how to reproduce this error? Sometimes the music suddenly stops within a song. no entry in server.log. If I then select another song it works fine. Unfortunately this is what too many postings in this thread are about: the Connect mode is a bit fragile and all too often ends playback randomly. I still dream about having time to improve things. By further investigating, I also realize that by default a host doesn't receive the mDNS multicast traffic (IP 224.0.0.251). Typically, a Linux host first have to start the avahi-daemon and this triggers a "registration" to tell the whole networks "hey, please also send me mDNS queries". I therefore see two options: 1) Have avahi running on the docker host and have the container use "host" networking 2) Have the container use a dedicated LAN IP (using macvlan or ipvlan docker networks) and have avahi running *inside* the container. I'll make some further tests and report here. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Spotty 4.7.0
Hi, and first of all thanks for this great plugin. I am running the docker image from lmscommunity/logitechmediaserver:stable on a Linux x86-64 host Today it means Server version 8.2.1 and Spotty 4.7.2. I also have a Spotify family account. I have 4 Spotify accounts configured and my problem is that I can only see my SB players from the Spotify apps of the first configured account (tested on the web Spotify player for Chrome and Android App). Other accounts from the family don't see any player, even though they have been successfully added to the plugin config (via explicit credentials and not authorization which doesn't work). By investigating the network, I can see that all the devices are requesting spotify-connect._tcp.local via mDNS/5353 and getting no reply. I have seen many posts suggesting to map port 5353/udp to the container but as far as I can tell, no process actually *binds* to this port (and I checked that it is free and not already used by another host process or container). Anyway, port is mapped and it doesn't help. So I think my question is: which process is supposed to bind to this port ? slimserver.pl or spotty-x86_64 ? From the code, I think it's libresport which actually binds to this port so it should be spotty-x86_64, right ? As far as I can tell, it doesn't bind to 5353 (tested with and without auto-discover). Also, I don't explain why the first account (and only this one) can see the players, even though mDNS doesn't work... I awake this morning to find Spotty healed and delivering smooth morning chill goodness wonderfully. I didn't reauthenticate. Just tried it again after some sleep. I think perhaps the issue may be related to some corruption in the database regarding playlists or shortcuts or something. I think I did force a re-read of all the music files before I went to bed. I'll attach the server and scanner logs to see if they make any sense to anyone and maybe I'll gain further insight as to what, if anything might be needed further. EDIT: I go to download the Log files and find that the Server log is BLANK! Empty! Do the logs erase themselves after a certain point? Interestingly, I did save a version of the Server log from last night when the problems were occuring. I'll attach that as well as the current scanner log. Thanks for all you guys do! This is by far my FAVORITE software I use. Perhaps when my "day job" permits I can learn more to help contribute at least as much as you guys have given me over the years! 3672136722 +---+ |Filename: scanner.log.zip | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=36722| +---+ noexit's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66502 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115592 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Spotty 4.7.0
Well I'm not quite sure how I did it but, it seems after messing around with my Raspberry Pi tinkering with installing and uninstalling Docker I've somehow, maybe messed up my Spotty functionality on my SqueezeServer. I'm running Logitech Media Server Version: 8.2.0 - 1627922070 and Spotty Plugin 4.7.1 natively on a Raspbery Pi 4 (not inside Docker... yet.. maybe not ever). It seems whenever I try to initiate the plugin I get the following error: [22-01-08 19:21:40.8107] Slim::Control::Request::execute (1888) Error: While trying to run function coderef [Slim::Plugin::OPMLBased::__ANON__]: [Can't use string (" 0: 0x81e2a8 - ") as a HASH ref while "strict refs" in use at /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/Spotty/API/Token.pm line 144. Thank you, tw99! Toggling some checkboxes in the filetypes settings page solved this! I unchecked "Prefer native format (decoding on the player) whenever possible" and disabled Ogg in the Spotty file types to get the smoothest sync at the start of songs. I didn't see another 4.7 thread, so I'm asking here. I use a mixture of hardware SBs and some linux squeezelite players in my home setup, all synced with the Group plugin in one group. Every player is hardwired in my home network. Most of my listening is through Spotty. All Connect features are off in LMS. When using Spotty, playback will always start with one of my linux (piCorePlayer) players first, and the hardware SBs catch up after about a second into the song. This doesn't happen with local music. I played with some of the sync settings for the piCorePlayer, but that didn't address the early start and made the sync worse overall. Any idea where I can look to sort this out? maddymarc's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8233 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115592 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

So what are the recommended settings for Spotty under Advanced>File Types? It's recommended not to touch those settings. But if there's a problem streaming, then it's sometimes worth trying differently.
