Submitted by meg on Mon, 02/09/2009 - 1:01pm. Analysis A BUZZFLASH NEWS ANALYSIS by Meg White Jobs are on everyone's mind right now. Spokespeople for every party and organization in the country are weighing in on the subject, whether they have any idea what they're talking about or not. So it is with newly-minted GOP National Committee Chair Michael Steele. On Sunday, Steele got into a confusing argument with George Stephanopoulos on This Week. He declared that people employed by the government don't really have jobs per se: If you got a government contract that's a fixed period of time it goes away. The work may go away. There's no guarantee that there's going to be more work when you're done with that job. Watch a snippet of the interview here: When Stephanopoulos noted that private sector jobs are not any more stable than government ones, Steele said cryptically that they come back. Steele's argument willfully ignored the existence of millions of teachers, police officers and other federal and state employees, who are by no means temporary workers. Steele also ignores the fact that much of the work that will come out of the stimulus bill will go to private companies in the form of government contracts. Essentially, Steele would rather the government give private companies tax breaks than contracts, so he makes a nonsensical argument to try to bolster his party's flawed line of reasoning on the stimulus package. He calls the work temporary, but tax cuts are an even more short-lived solution. Steele's lack of a coherent argument about employment goes back further than Sunday, however. He has been living off his party and the government for years, so it is ironic that he still denies that the government can produce jobs. Steele's story is proof that his own argument about government jobs is wrong, with a hint of corruption thrown in for good measure. Steele started out as a Republican Party regular in Maryland. When he was tapped to run for lieutenant governor in 2002, his private sector job wasn't cutting it, so the GOP paid Steele $5,000 a month to run for the office. Though the arrangement was unusual, and called obscene by the opposition at the time, it is legal for a party to pay a candidate to run. The real question is, if Steele truly thinks the private sector is the key to the success of this country, why did he close down his legal consulting firm and accept an allowance from the GOP to run for office? It seems that the party stipend and the years of being on the state's payroll as lieutenant governor weren't enough for Steele. Contemplating a future run for governor as his term as lieutenant governor ran out in 2007, he instructed an aide to transfer more than $500,000 from his lieutenant governor campaign funds to another bank account so that the GOP could not distribute the funds to other candidates. Such a transfer of funds is legal, but only because Steele planned to use it to run for state office, not spend it on his failed 2006 Senate race, which would have been a national office. The accusation of illegality, contained in a confidential court document accidentally mailed to The Washington Post, is based on the fact that the transfer was carried out by an aide and not Steele himself. Steele contends that the transfer was legal. In fact, Steele insists that every accusation levied against him by his former finance chair for his 2006 Senate run is false. Alan Fabian was convicted on unrelated fraud charges and made several accusations against Steele in a failed effort to get a reduced sentence. Fabian also accused Steele of making improper campaign fund payments, both to his own sister for more than $37,000 and to a law firm to the tune of $75,000. Fabian alleged the services for which the payments were made were never rendered. Furthermore, The Washington Post notes that Steele's sister's company had been dissolved for 11 months by the time the payment was made. These payments may be, as Steele insists, perfectly legal. But the fact that Steele is being investigated by the FBI suggests that this is more than just a convicted felon naming names in order to get out of jail sooner. Furthermore, Fabian's story makes more sense in historical context. As part of a failed bid for state comptroller in 1998, Steele owed $35,000 in campaign debt, mostly to his sister. Also, he's been fined twice for missing campaign reporting deadlines. The overall situation suggests a lack of

Eligibility issue: McCain checked but not Obama
A lawsuit that accuses Congress of failing to investigate President Obama's birthplace before approving the Electoral College vote giving him the presidency has been amended to include additional claims of rights violations, including unequal treatment, because Congress did such an investigation into GOP candidate Sen. John McCain. That word comes from Mario Apuzzo, the lawyer handling the case The case was brought by Apuzzo on behalf of Charles F. Kerchner Jr., Lowell T. Patterson, Darrell James Lenormand and Donald H. Nelson Jr. It names as defendants Barack Hussein Obama II, the U.S., Congress, the Senate, House of Representatives and former Vice President Dick Cheney along with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Apuzzo told WND that Congress last year raised the issue of whether McCain was a natural born citizen, a requirement set out in the U.S. Constitution for the president, because of his birth to U.S. citizens in the Panama Canal Zone. According to a report in the Washington Post, the Senate unanimously declared McCain to be a natural born citizen, meeting the demand of Article 2 of the Constitution, which states, no person except a natural born citizen … shall be eligible to the office of president. The report, however, pointed out that such a statement was opinion only, and the constitutional question actually isn't so simple. It quoted Catholic University associate law professor Sarah Duggin saying the document is ambiguous. Ultimately there has never been any real resolution of this issue. Congress cannot legislatively change the meaning of the Constitution, she told the newspaper, saying a constitutional amendment or a U.S. Supreme Court ruling would be the way to reach a determination. The question is: Why do you do it for McCain, but not Obama, Apuzzo told WND. More specifically, those who doubted McCain's eligibility had an opportunity for a review but not those who doubt Obama. That violates a liberty right for his clients, he said, because as members of a republic, they have a right to know that their president is legitimate. What I'm arguing is that Congress and President Obama have violated my clients' due process under Article 5 [of the U.S. Constitution], Apuzzo said. http://worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.viewpageId=88566 --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ Thanks for being part of PoliticalForum at Google Groups. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, U.S. Geological Survey and Maine State Climate Office announced today that a minus-50 reading in northwestern Maine held up to scientific scrutiny. That beats Maine's old record of 48 below zero set in 1925 in Van Buren, and ties the record for coldest temperature recorded in New England. That reading was made in 1933 in Bloomfield, Vt. The record on New Hampshire's Mount Washington is minus-47. Maine's minus-50 reading was made on Jan. 16 at a remote site along the Big Black River near the Quebec border as the region was in the grip of a blast of arctic air. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ Thanks for being part of PoliticalForum at Google Groups. Canada Knows What We Have to Look Forward To
With the help of the unforgivable traitors Specter, Collins, and Snowe, the Senate has passed the pork-laden socialist power play the media complicitly calls a stimulus package. Predictably, the stock market has reacted by going into freefall. In addition to burying the economy in senseless debt that we may never be able to repay and setting the table for Zimbabwe-style inflation rates, Porkzilla allows the federal government to ration healthcare. Combined with last week's expansion of SCHIP, this means we essentially already have socialized medicine. For an idea of what this means, we need look no farther than Canada: In Ontario, Lindsay McCreith was suffering from headaches and seizures yet faced a four and a half month wait for an MRI scan in January of 2006. Deciding that the wait was untenable, Mr. McCreith did what a lot of Canadians do: He went south, and paid for an MRI scan across the border in Buffalo. The MRI revealed a malignant brain tumor. Ontario's government system still refused to provide timely treatment, offering instead a months-long wait for surgery. In the end, Mr. McCreith returned to Buffalo and paid for surgery that may have saved his life. Too bad escaping to America won't be an option, when America has undergone Change and isn't here anymore. Those who are deemed by the bureaucracy to be too old will be up a creek when they need healthcare. Ask Bill Murray of Alberta, who waited in pain for more than a year to see a specialist for his arthritic hip. The specialist recommended a Birmingham hip resurfacing surgery (a state-of-the-art procedure that gives better results than basic hip replacement) as the best medical option. But government bureaucrats determined that Mr. Murray, who was 57, was too old to enjoy the benefits of this procedure and said no. In the end, he was also denied the opportunity to pay for the procedure himself in Alberta. We have fought major wars over far less than what Democrats have been able to impose on this country in only three weeks of control in Washington. http://www.moonbattery.com/ --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ Thanks for being part of PoliticalForum at Google Groups. Psychology Today's Steven Kotler Wants to Lose 4.4 Billion People
The hostility to human life at the core of moonbat ideology has risen alarmingly close to the surface at Psychology Today's blog The Playing Field, where bestselling author Steven Kotler outdoes Hitler and Chairman Mao with his declaration that we need to lose 4.4 billion people. Kotler hates babies so much, he wants people jailed for having too many of them. But since not having children takes awhile, we may need to break out the Zyklon B. Screams Kotler: You think the economy is bad now — wait a few years. Wait until we're almost completely out of oil and food and water and available land — we need to lose 4.4 billion people and we need to lose them fast. Moonbats have been shrieking that we're about to run out of resources at least since Malthus in the 18th century. Like other cultists, they press onward with their apocalyptic prophecies, regardless of how spectacularly they are proven wrong. Displaying the bizarre inversion that characterizes leftist thought, Kotler calls Nadya Suleman — who admittedly should never have been implanted with all those embryos — a murderer for not having any of her babies killed. PETA president Ingrid Newkirk may believe that a rat is a pig is a dog is a boy, but Kotler holds that a boy is less than a dog: So do I think that a dog's life is worth more than a humans? I think that no dog has ever, intentionally, for reasons of selfish greed, destroyed their home like we have ours. I think that yes, there are way too many people on the planet, and while I'm not advocating mass euthanasia (though mandatory birth control sounds pretty good to me), I think before we start saying humans are worth more than dogs, we need to examine exactly what we have contributed to the quality of life for all species on this planet, not just our own. It's a relief to hear our liberal elite intelligentsia doesn't openly advocate genocide — yet. Once again we see that liberal thought is not just juvenile, asinine, and wrong. It is evil and insane. In a word, it's satanic. http://www.moonbattery.com/ --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ Thanks for being part of PoliticalForum at Google Groups. Petraeus Leaked Misleading Story on Pullout Plans
Petraeus Leaked Misleading Story on Pullout Plans http://www.truthout.org/021009A The political maneuvering between President Barack Obama and his top field commanders over withdrawal from Iraq has taken a sudden new turn with the leak by CENTCOM commander Gen. David Petraeus - and a firm denial by a White House official - of an account of the Jan. 21 White House meeting suggesting that Obama had requested three different combat troop withdrawal plans with their respective associated risks, including one of 23 months. The Petraeus account, reported by McClatchy newspapers Feb. 5 and then by the Associated Press the following day, appears to indicate that Obama is moving away from the 16-month plan he had vowed during the campaign to implement if elected. But on closer examination, it doesn't necessarily refer to any action by Obama or to anything that happened at the Jan. 21 meeting. The real story of the leak by Petraeus is that the mostpowerful figure in the U.S. military has tried to shape the media coverage of Obama and combat troop withdrawal from Iraq to advance his policy agenda - and, very likely, his personal political interests as well. This writer became aware of Petraeus's effort to influence the coverage of Obama's unfolding policy on troop withdrawal when a military source close to the general, who insisted on anonymity, offered the Petraeus account on Feb. 4. The military officer was responding to the IPS story 'Generals Seek to Reverse Obama Withdrawal Decision' published two days earlier [link]. The story reported that Obama had rejected Petraeus's argument against a 16-month withdrawal option at the meeting and asked for a withdrawal plan within that time frame, and that Petraeus had been unhappy with the outcome of the meeting. It also reported that Gen. Ray Odierno, the top U.S. commander in Iraq, and retired Army general Jack Keane, a close ally of Petraeus, had both made public statements indicating a determination to get Obama to abandon the 16-month plan. The officer told IPS that, contrary to the story, Petraeus had been very pleased with the direction of the discussions. He said that there had been no decision by Obama at the meeting and no indication that Obama had a preference for one option over another. The military source provided the following carefully worded statement: We were specifically asked to provide projections, assumptions and risks for the accomplishment of objectives associated with 16-, 19- and 23-month drawdown options. That was exactly the sentence published by McClatchy the following day, except that specifically was left out. The source also said Petraeus, Odierno and Ambassador Ryan Crocker had already reached a unified assessment on the three drawdown options and had forwarded them to the chain of command. But a White House official told IPS Monday that the Petraeus account was untrue. The assessments of the three drawdown dates were not requested by the president, said the official, who insisted on not being identified because he had not been authorised to comment on the matter. He never said, 'Give me three drawdown plans.' McClatchy's Nancy Youssef reported a similar account from aides to Obama. Obama told his advisors shortly after taking office that he remained committed to the 16-month timeframe, Youssef wrote, but asked them to present him with the pros and cons of that and other options, without specifying dates. That suggests that the only specific plan for which Obama requested an assessment of risks was the 16-month plan, but that he agreed to look at other plans as well. The sentence given to this writer as well as to McClatchy bore one obvious clue that the request for the assessments of three drawdown plans did not come from Obama: the sentence used the passive voice. It also failed to explicitly state that the request in question was made during the meeting with Obama. Petraeus did not respond to a request through the intermediary to say who requested the studies and whether they had been proposed by the military commanders themselves. McClatchy's Youssef also noted that it is unclear who came up with the idea... of the 19- and 23- month withdrawal plans. By implying that Obama had requested the three plans without saying so explicitly, the sentence leaked by Petraeus seems to have been calculated to create a misleading story. One of Petraeus's objectives appears to have been to counter any perception that he is seeking to undermine Obama on Iraq policy. Petraeus wishes to remain out of the spotlight in regard to any conflict regarding withdrawal over the Iraq issue. He has been very careful to keep a very low profile, said the military officer close to Petraeus, because this is a new administration. But the Petraeus leak also serves to promote the idea that Obama is moving away from his campaign pledge on a 16-month combat troop withdrawal, which

Obama Meets Press, Nation Head On
Obama Meets Press, Nation Head On http://www.truthout.org/021009J Matt Renner, Truthout: In his first press conference, President Barack Obama focused on the disintegrating economy and defended his plan for prompt and expansive spending by the federal government to stem rising unemployment. Obama walked to the podium in the plush East Room of the White House and spoke for ten minutes before taking 50 minutes of questions from the press. He faced the American public in prime time and he faced the global economy. Pres. Obama Invites Hamas Terrorists to America
*Pres. Obama Invites Hamas Terrorists to America *February 7, 2009 *Bos Smith and Michael Travis contributed to the writing of this article.* *http://www.newmediajournal.us/staff/p_williams/2009/print/02072009.htm* By executive order, President Barack Obama has ordered the expenditure of $20.3 million in migration assistance to the Palestinian refugees and conflict victims in Gaza. The presidential determination which allows hundreds of thousands of Palestinians with ties to Hamas to resettle in the United States was signed on January 27 and appeared in the Federal Register on February 4. President Obama's decision, according to the Register, was necessitated by the urgent refugee and migration needs of the victims. Few on Capitol Hill took note that the order provides a free ticket replete with housing and food allowances to individuals who have displayed their overwhelming support of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the parliamentary election of January 2006. The charter for Hamas calls for the replacement of the nation of Israel with a Palestinian Islamic state. Since its formation in 1994, Hamas has been responsible for hundreds of terrorist attacks, including the 2002 Passover suicide bombing. The leaders of the movement signed the World Islamic Statement of 1998 – a document, penned by Osama bin Laden, which declared war on America and Israel. President Obama's executive order is expected to bring hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, many with ties to radical Islam, to our shores, furthering a process that was inaugurated in 1995 by Senator Ted Kennedy and the Cedar-Hart bill. * * *The Open Gate* In 1965, Allah in His mercy raised up Senators Ted Kennedy and Edward Celler to initiate changes in the immigration law that made it possible for millions of Muslims to make their way to the New World – as the Christian Europeans had done in the early years of the 20th Century. The Cedar-Hart bill, which was signed into law by President Lyndon Johnson on October 3, 1965, abolished the national-origin quotas that had been in effect since 1924. In the spirit of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, it barred discrimination on the basis of race, creed, religion, or national origin. America, by fiat of liberal secular humanists, was to be become a multicultural country – a country severed from its Judeo-Christian roots. Remaining cognizant of the common roots as the American people, our legislative had enacted stringent laws pertaining to immigration and naturalization. The *Naturalization Act of 1790** *stipulated that any alien, being a free white person, may be admitted to become a citizen of the United States *The Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882* prohibited Chinese families from immigrating to the United States. *The Immigration Act of 1907 * reorganized the states bordering Mexico (Arizona, New Mexico and a large part of Texas) into Mexican Border District to stem the flow of immigrants into the US. *The Immigration Act of 1924 *further limited the number of new immigrants by the establishment of a stringent quota system. The number of newcomers was now limited to 2 percent of each nationality who lived in the country not in 1924 but in 1890. The reliance of this legislation on the ethnic composition of the country before the turn of the century guaranteed that the majority of new arrivals would be from Northern Europe. Since few Italians and Eastern Europeans lived in the US in 1890, the quotas for these nationalities became fixed at marginal rates and the number of new immigrants from undesirable regions greatly reduced. The following chart shows the effects of this legislation: *Immigration Statistics, 1920-1926* *Year* *Total Entering U.S.* *Country of Origin* *Great Britain* *Eastern Europe** *Italy* 1920 430,001 38,471 3,913 95,145 1921 805,228 51,142 32,793 222,260 1922 309,556 25,153 12,244 40,319 1923 522,919 45,759 16,082 46,674 1924 706,896 59,490 13,173 56,246 1925 294,314 27,172 1,566 6,203 1926 304,488 25,528 1,596 8,253 It is hard to conceive of an act of Congress that could be more culturally biased than the Immigration Act of 1954 and yet it received nearly unchallenged bipartisan support. Yet The New York Times editorialized: The country has a right to say who shall and who shall not come in...The basis of restriction must be chosen with a view not to the interest of any group or groups in this country...but rather with a view to the country's best interests as a whole. In 1952, *The McCarran Walter Immigration Act* affirmed the national-origins quota system of 1924 and limited total annual immigration to one-sixth of one percent of the population of the continental United States in 1920, or 175,455. The act exempted spouses and children of US citizens and people born in the Western Hemisphere from the quota. * * *The Kennedy Promise* But, in 1965, Kennedy and company viewed such legislation as

I would have never opted for an abortion That's the important point that so many miss in the abortion debate... it's your choice. Soon to Follow Porkulus: Gun Confiscation
What will be next for the Obamunists, after they have used the recession as a pretext to spend $trillions of our money in a bid to crush capitalism under mountains of government debt? Since people are already aware that yesterday's stimulus package was an extravagantly expensive fraud not even intended to help the economy, it won't be long before they start getting extremely angry. Fortunately for the government, it won't matter how mad we are, once our liberal masters have had us declawed. For an idea of what's coming on the Obamunist wish list, have a look at The Obama Forum, which bills itself as the forum for supporters of Barack Obama. Below are comments from a thread entitled Gun Control Confiscation President Obama's Plan For Disarming White America. Yes We Can! Anyone who doesn't want to turn in their guns is a racist Just admit it, if you don't want to turn in your guns you secretly harbor a dislike for blacks and want to kill them all, but don't worry you can redeem yourself by turning in your guns so what are you waiting for. The fact that gun owners are racist is common knowledge. That's why we need the OYB (Obama Youth Brigade). Otherwise, the supporters of Obama will be defenseless against these bigots. This is as close as you'll find to a voice of reason: I can't be a racist, I'm black. Besides, I need it to defend myself when walking around my block. To which another Obamunist responds, Well naturally black people can keep their guns. …and another chimes in, We have to target law abiding gun owners, 99% of witch aren't black. This will be a perfect oppurtunity to disarm white america. Only then can we bring about change. Soon the discussion goes completely off the rails… Roy Rogers had guns with ivory grips… probably to match his pastey white wife's ass. I mean her face was whiter than that damn white ass horse Trigger. You know with a name like that you've got yourself some real life gun nuts there baby. Getting back on track… But guns shouldn't be the only thing confiscated. Racist books and magazines like the Turner Diaries should be confiscated and burned. Maybe the whole forum is a parody; with Obamunism it's impossible to tell. But one thing is certain: like all socialist regimes, our current one will eventually seek to disarm us. http://www.moonbattery.com/archives/2009/02/soon_to_follow.html --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ Thanks for being part of PoliticalForum at Google Groups. Re: Why Republicans Won't Support the Stimulus
Two hundred Economists signed an ad in the NY Times explaining why the stimulus is a disaster in the making. The group included three winners of the Nobel Prize in Economics, one of them honored for his work in this particular area. I believe the professionals. In part, that is because what they say makes good common sense. They do not see the issue as a close call at all--but a slam dunk all out disaster-- otherwise they would be disagreeing with each other. They call their work the dismal science in part because there is usually such great disagreement! I must admit that I cannot even conceive of a sum of money exceeding 1 trillion dollars (adding 800 billion to the sum earlier committed). But I know this: When they finish printing or issuing the money into the nation's money supply, the first and certain effect is to devalue the dollars in my pocket by a significant amount. I doubt that a more inflationary plan has ever been proposed--perhaps not even in the great depression. The next question is how to pay back the 1+ trillion debt thus created? Socialists argue that the creation of new jobs will lead to the expansion of the gross national product, which in turn will raise tax revenues. Funny, what we know for sure is that tax CUTS lead to increased tax revenue, and this is just the reverse! Here, its a question of counting generations which again I leave to the experts. It is my personal belief that the socialists already know that they are going to be forced to raise taxes to amortize most of this debt-- that is half of the equation tax and spend upon which they have always relied. Conservatives see two categories: Provisions which will impact the economy beginning immediately and out to about two years. In this category are found the funds which are truly needed to make the money supply fluid enough ACCORDING TO THE EXPERTS (I am not an expert). This part of the plan should be approved. But by far the greatest sums are proposed to advance the socialist's dream agenda of controlling and even nationalizing the financial system. producing alternate energy, reforming the school system, the medical system etc, etc. These are not stimulus items at all--but parts of the long term socialist plan for our country. It takes a long time to build wind farms and the like, but the point here is that each of these political areas, such as alternate energy, need to be addressed separately by government---not part of such a Hugo Chavez cafeteria. I conclude that this huge bill is the perfect place to fear the iron law of unintended consequences as well as the concerns voiced here-- it's just far to big to risk. But in the end, we are in for 2 years of socialist domination with the Democrats in full control of both branches (remember--even the filibuster in the Senate is gone now with the defection of three Republicans--and a filibuster cannot defeat legislation anyhow, merely delay it). We shall see in 2 years and then 4 years how the Dems do--the situation has great clarity as nothing of importance can be blamed on the Conservatives or Republicans who are also conservatives. Should be quite a show. Not because Senate Democrats failed to bend - they agreed to trim more than $100 billion out of a previous version of the bill. Not because Senate Republicans are doctrinally opposed to deficit spending - many of them happily voted for Bush spending and tax cuts that doubled the federal debt. Re: Soon to Follow Porkulus: Gun Confiscation
the writer needs to put his blinders back on did you read this comment: Confiscate my guns? Send people you won't miss. On Feb 11, 11:25 am, Philobealo wayneb...@yahoo.com wrote: What will be next for the Obamunists, after they have used the recession as a pretext to spend $trillions of our money in a bid to crush capitalism under mountains of government debt? But one thing is certain: like all socialist regimes, our current one will eventually seek to disarm us.http://www.moonbattery.com/archives/2009/02/soon_to_follow.html --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ Thanks for being part of PoliticalForum at Google Groups. Irish minister bans climate change adverts
From: *Travis* Date: Tue, Feb 10, 2009 Subject: Irish minister bans climate change adverts Good. They are all lies and propaganda. B *Irish minister bans climate change adverts* By Chris Greenhttp://www.independent.co.uk/search/index.jsp?eceMode=searcheceForm=simpleeceExpr=%22Chris+Green%22 *Tuesday, 10 February 2009* *The Independent* An advertising campaign urging people to help tackle climate change has been banned by Northern Ireland's Environment minister because he does not believe humans are the main cause of global warming. Sammy Wilson said the ads suggested that turning off a television rather than putting it on standby could help save the planet, a notion he described as patent nonsense. The East Antrim MP said he was in favour of encouraging people in Northern Ireland to save energy, but added that the link between carbon emissions and global warming was a matter of political debate. The Green Party and the campaign group Friends of the Earth demanded his resignation, but Mr Wilson said he had a right to hold his own opinion on the issue. The DUP representative added last night: Why should I resign? I fulfil all my ministerial obligations in all areas of my department, and the idea that I should resign just because I hold a different view from other people on what is a very controversial topic is nonsense. And it just shows the intolerance of these people if they think I should resign because I have a different opinion. Brian Wilson, a Green Party assembly member, said the minister was being grossly irresponsible, adding: While the minister is entitled to his own views, he is not entitled to ignore the overwhelming scientific evidence that man-made climate change exists. . __._,_.___ Messageshttp://groups.yahoo.com/group/grendelreport/messages;_ylc=X3oDMTJmb3AxdmdnBF9TAzk3MzU5NzE0BGdycElkAzIwMTk0ODA2BGdycHNwSWQDMTcwNTMyMzY2NwRzZWMDZnRyBHNsawNtc2dzBHN0aW1lAzEyMzQyOTI1Mzg- MARKETPLACE -- From kitchen basics to easy recipes - join the Group from Kraft Foods http://us.ard.yahoo.com/SIG=13rfrkies/M=493064.12016295.13271503.10835568/D=groups/S=1705323667:MKP1/Y=YAHOO/EXP=1234299738/L=/B=0o8GCEPDhFM-/J=1234292538920174/A=5530388/R=0/SIG=11nuutlas/*http://explore.yahoo.com/groups/kraftmealsmadesimple/ [image: Yahoo! Random Thoughts 11 Feb 09
From: Travis Subject: Random Thoughts 11 Feb 09 Date: Wednesday, February 11, 2009, *Random Thoughts *Thomas Sowell Wednesday, February 11, 2009 Random thoughts on the passing scene: One of the most important skills for political success is the ability to make confident assertions of absurdities or lies. The adage follow the money will be hard to apply in the current administration, when there is so much money going in all directions that it is doubtful whether anybody can follow it. I hate to hear about partnerships between government and business, or between government and other organizations. When there is a partnership between an ant and an elephant, who do you suppose makes the decisions? There are too many people, especially among the intelligentsia, who will never appreciate the things that have made this country great until after those things have been destroyed-- with their help. Then, of course, it will be too late. How can a President of the United States be re-elected in a landslide after four years when unemployment never fell below 15 percent for even one month during his first term? Franklin D. Roosevelt did it by blaming it all on the previous administration. Barack Obama may be able to achieve the same result the same way. Can you name the only baseball player to bat .382 in his last year in the major leagues? The first five readers who can will receive a free copy of my new book, Applied Economics. Do you want to have to jump through bureaucratic hoops when you are sick? If not, why would you be in favor of government-run medical care? The Wall Street Journal Report is one of the few things on television worth watching. It is worth it just to see the sardonic smile of Kimberly Strassel whenever she discusses politics. Democrats could sell refrigerators to Eskimos before Republicans could sell them blankets. Anyone who wants to understand the housing crisis without getting a headache from reading economic jargon should read the new book Financial Shock by Mark Zandi. Human beings are going to make mistakes, whether in the market or in the government. The difference is that survival in the market requires recognizing mistakes and changing course before you go bankrupt. But survival in politics requires denying mistakes and sticking with the policies you advocated, while blaming others for the bad results. I know that there are still voices of sanity around because I have counted them-- on one hand. More frightening to me than any policy or politician is the ease with which the public is played for fools with words. The latest example is the Employee Freedom of Choice Act, a bill that will do away with secret ballot elections among workers voting on whether to be represented by a union. It is an open invitation to intimidation- - which is to say, loss of freedom of choice. Our economic problems worry me much less than our political solutions, which have a far worse track record. One of the wonders of our times is how much more attention is paid to the living conditions of a bunch of cut-throats locked up in Guantanamo than to the leading international sponsor of terrorism getting nuclear weapons. The great sense of urgency of the Obama administration to get legislation to authorize slow-moving spending projects may seem inconsistent. But the urgency is real, even if the reasons given are not. The worse case scenario for the administration would be to have the economy begin to recover on its own before this massive spending bill is passed, reducing their chances of creating the kind of politically directed economy they want. I realized how far behind the times I am when I saw a TV commercial for some weight-loss product, showing Marie Osmond before and after. I thought she looked great before. War should of course be a last resort-- but last in terms of preference, not last in the sense of hoping against hope while dangers grow, and wishful thinking or illusory agreements substitute for serious military preparedness- - or, if necessary, military action. As Franklin D. Roosevelt said, If you wait until you see the whites of their eyes, you will never know what hit you. http://townhall. com/columnists/ ThomasSowell/ 2009/02/11/ random_thoughtshttp://townhall.com/columnists/ThomasSowell/2009/02/11/random_thoughts __._,_.___ Messages in this topic http://groups.yahoo.com/group/tsowell/message/5661;_ylc=X3oDMTM0bW1sc2JpBF9TAzk3MzU5NzE0BGdycElkAzQzNDQyNTUEZ3Jwc3BJZAMxNzA1MDYwMzc1BG1zZ0lkAzU2NjEEc2VjA2Z0cgRzbGsDdnRwYwRzdGltZQMxMjM0MzY5MjgyBHRwY0lkAzU2NjE- (1) Reply (via web post) http://groups.yahoo.com/group/tsowell/post;_ylc=X3oDMTJwM2lwZHBlBF9TAzk3MzU5NzE0BGdycElkAzQzNDQyNTUEZ3Jwc3BJZAMxNzA1MDYwMzc1BG1zZ0lkAzU2NjEEc2VjA2Z0cgRzbGsDcnBseQRzdGltZQMxMjM0MzY5Mjgy?act=replymessageNum=5661| Start a new topic http://groups.yahoo.com/group/tsowell/post;_ylc=X3oDMTJlcnAydHNoBF9TAzk3MzU5NzE0BGdycElkAzQzNDQyNTUEZ3Jwc3BJZAMxNzA1MDYwMzc1BHNlYwNmdHIEc2xrA250cGMEc3RpbWUDMTIzNDM2OTI4Mg--

Anti-gun Land Bill Moving Fast
From: Travis Date: Wed, Feb 11, 2009 Subject: Anti-gun Land Bill Moving Fast Anyone who clings to the historically untrue -- and -- thoroughly immoral doctrine that violence never solves anything I would advise to conjure up the ghosts of Napoleon Bonaparte and the Duke of Wellington and let them debate it. The ghost of Hitler would referee. Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor; and the contrary opinion is wishful thinking at its worst. Breeds that forget this basic truth have always paid for it with their lives and their freedoms. --Robert A. Heinlein Anti-gun Land Bill On The Move -- House Vote Expected This Week Gun Owners of America E-Mail Alert 8001 Forbes Place, Suite 102, Springfield, VA 22151 Phone: 703-321-8585 / FAX: 703-321-8408 http://www.gunowners.org Tuesday, February 10, 2009 Lost in all the news of the massive bailout bill that just passed the Senate is another enormous bill, one that increases federal control of public and private land. Of particular concern to gun owners is that the bill, S. 22, will greatly expand the amount of land controlled by the National Park Service. NPS land is currently subject to a gun ban. While President Bush took steps in the waning days of his presidency to reverse the ban, the new regulations apply to persons who carry a concealed firearm with a permit. Non-permit holders and open carry are not explicitly addressed. Another eyebrow-raising aspect of this bill is that it is actually a compilation of over 150 separate pieces of legislation that never passed out of Congress on their own merits. Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) successfully held up over 100 of these bills, until anti-gun Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid rolled all of the bills into one so-called Coburn Omnibus and forced it through the Senate in January on a vote of 73-21. As the House prepares to take up the bill, the Democrat leadership has taken procedural steps to ensure that the measure cannot be amended or altered in any way. That means that if it passes the House, it goes right to President Obama's desk, where it will be signed into law. Here are a few of the more troubling aspects of the bill: * It authorizes the federal government to buy private land adjacent to national parks and trails. Such land would be controlled by the NPS, and thus be subject to the gun ban. * The bill federalizes the Washington-Rochambeau Route, a 650 mile trail that stretches from Rhode Island to Virginia and includes sections of major thoroughfares such as Interstate 95 and U.S. Route 1, and passes through cities like Boston and Philadelphia. The entire trail would fall under the NPS and the gun ban. * The National Landscape Conservation System groups together millions of acres of federal land and places it under one new umbrella agency. The NLCS was created during the Clinton administration and run administratively since then. S. 22 will codify the system, which raises concerns for hunters and sportsmen. Much of this land is consolidated from the BLM and the Forest Service, which have always allowed hunting and recreational shooting. It is unclear what rules will be promulgated by the new agency and if gun owners' rights will be protected. * S. 22 strips out small concessions won by pro-gunners in the House last year that would allow state and local law to govern firearms possession and hunting on certain land. * S.22 allows for NO amendments. Pro-gun members who want to offer an amendment to fully repeal the NPS gun ban are prevented from doing so by the anti-gun leadership. The full House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on the bill this Wednesday or Thursday. Unless the NPS gun ban is repealed and the rights of gun owners are protected, Gun Owners of America opposes the bill in its entirety. ACTION: Please urge your Representative to repeal the NPS gun ban in S. 22, or to vote against the entire bill. You can go to the Gun Owners Legislative Action Center at http://capwiz.com/gunowners/home/ to send your Representative the pre-written e-mail message below. - Prewritten Letter - Dear Representative: I urge you to oppose S. 22, a bill that will greatly expand the amount of land controlled by the National Park Service (NPS). NPS land is currently subject to a gun ban. While President Bush took steps in the waning days of his presidency to reverse the ban, the new regulations apply to persons who carry a concealed firearm with a permit. Non-permit holders and open carry are not explicitly addressed. Which is why S. 22 raises so many concerns: * It authorizes the federal government to buy private land adjacent to national parks and trails. Such land would be controlled by the NPS, and thus be subject to the gun ban. * The bill federalizes the Washington-Rochambeau Route, a 650 mile trail, and places it under the NPS gun ban. * S. 22 will
Obama May Place US Under International Criminal Court
From: *Travis* Date: Wed, Feb 11, 2009 Subject: Obama May Place US Under International Criminal Court http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=30632 Obama May Place U.S. Under International Criminal Court by Thomas P. Kilgannon (more by this author) Posted 02/10/2009 ET Waterboarding. Abu Ghraib. Detaining terrorists at Guantanamo Bay. Dissing Hans Blix. These, as seen by the Left, are the cardinal sins of George W. Bush's administration. Set aside the fraternity party-like nonsense that took place at Abu Ghraib and what's left are actions taken to protect U.S. interests. But self-loathing Americans whose minds are confined in the cult of globalism don't see it that way. Each of these offenses has at least one thing in common: they hurt the feelings of foreigners. Insensitivity to the outside world, U.S. internationalists argue, is a stain on Uncle Sam's reputation from which we must repent. With that in mind, one more offense must be included in the list of Bush's sins. It occurred May 6, 2002, when John Bolton, on orders from the President, withdrew the U.S. from the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC). Oh, there were terrible tantrums in Turtle Bay that day! Globalists were dismayed because Mr. Bush's rejection of the ICC was a vote for American sovereignty -- a refusal to cede authority to international government and a court that is not bound to the principles of the U.S. Constitution, far less our laws. That could change under the Obama administration. Two weeks ago, hope returned to the House of Hammarskjold when U.S. Ambassador Susan Rice, in a closed Security Council meeting, voiced support for the ICC. She said it looks to become an important and credible instrument for trying to hold accountable the senior leadership responsible for atrocities committed in the Congo, Uganda and Darfur. The mere mention of the International Criminal Court by the U.S. Permanent Representative drew her colleagues' attention. What she said on human rights and international law I could have written myself, French ambassador Jean-Maurice Ripert told Bloomberg News. Costa Rica's Jorge Urbina said Rice's speech raises expectations that the United States will submit to the authority of the ICC. Urbina is on point. Sen. Obama said little about the ICC during his campaign for the White House. But in his first weeks as President, his actions speak less to constituents in Peoria and the Bronx than to admirers in Paris and Brussels. Obama's trans-American constituent service includes his decision to shutter Gitmo and grant his first presidential interview with Al Arabiya television. In his inauguration speech, Obama declared that America is ready to lead once more. He said American power does [not] entitle us to do as we please. In the parlance of the Left, these suggest submission to international authority, which was raised again last week when Ben Chang, spokesman for National Security Advisor General James Jones, echoed Rice's comments about the Court. In the context of an ICC indictment for Sudanese President Omar Bashir, Chang told the Washington Times, We support the ICC in its pursuit of those who've perpetrated war crimes. So, what will ICC engagement mean for the United States? To answer that, one must read A Strategy for U.S. Engagement with the International Criminal Court, written by David Scheffer and John Hutson and issued by the Century Foundation. Scheffer was instrumental in the formation of the ICC and served as Ambassador at Large for War Crimes in the Clinton administration. Hutson was the Navy's Judge Advocate General from 1997-2000. The report is stunning in its frankness, heartbreaking in its eagerness to sacrifice American citizens for some nebulous global good. The authors' complaints begin with the Bush administration's unwillingness to subject Americans to ICC indictments. They explain: Any path toward support of the ICC will require examining long-standing concerns about the exposure of U.S. military service personnel and American political and military leaders to the court, whether or not the United States is a state party to the Rome Statute. (emphasis added) A cornerstone of the ICC is that its jurisdiction extends only to those nations that ratify the Rome Statute. By subjecting the U.S. to the ICC even as a non-participant, the authors have turned the Rome Statute into a living document. It should be noted that the ICC itself is doing the same. Last week, Lois Morena Oncampo launched an investigation to determine if Israel can be prosecuted for attacks on Gaza. Israel is not a party to the ICC. Scheffer and Hutson continue, stating the implications to the U.S. If the United States were to join the ICC, they write, one would have to accept at least the theoretical possibility that American citizens (particularly political and military leaders) could be prosecuted before the ICC on charges of committing atrocity crimes. And without the protections
Terror at the border
From: *Travis* Date: Wed, Feb 11, 2009 Subject: Terror at the border *Terror at the border* http://goog_1234292860226/ *A new terrorist threat is closer than you think*http://www.armedforcesjournal.com/2008/12/3801379 * BY COL. ROBERT KILLEBREW (RET.) http://www.armedforcesjournal.com/2008/12/3801379 * With American attention diverted to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the economic crisis and a hard-fought national election, national security experts have largely overlooked the bitter countercartel war in Mexico. But that war, which is beginning to overlap the U.S. border, is only the forerunner of an even more serious threat. Sometime in the near future a lethal combination of transnational terrorism and criminal gangs is going to cross the U.S. border in force. According to some, it already has, and we haven't even noticed. Concern about transnational terrorism and organized crime is nothing new. The collapse of the Cold War spurred the growth of international gangs newly freed from state controls and made available on the gray market enormous quantities of arms and arms-related materials. At the same time, revolutionary groups in South and Central America began diversifying from social revolution into the enormously profitable drug trade that serves North America, turning thousands of trained soldiers into drug mercenaries in the services of organizations such as the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and others. In Mexico, powerful criminal families began organizing the cartels that today are challenging the Mexican state. At the same time, criminal gangs — the hired guns of the Mexican cartels — began a period of exponential growth, in Latin America and in the U.S. One gang in particular, Mara Salvatrucha, better known as MS-13, is prototypical of the gangs' particularly bloody and widespread growth. MS-13 originated in El Salvador and Los Angeles from demobilized veterans of the Salvadoran civil war. Since the 1980s, MS-13 has spread throughout the U.S. to Washington, D.C., Oregon, Alaska, Arkansas, Texas, California, Nevada, Oklahoma, Michigan, New York, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Canada and elsewhere. MS-13 traffics in any kind of illegal trade, but principally in drugs. It enforces discipline by the crudest tortures, terminating in death by dismemberment for informing or attempting to leave the gang. The second-greatest concentration of MS-13 in the U.S., after Los Angeles, is in the Washington, D.C., area, where a large immigrant youth population provides recruits and a supportive culture. MS-13 is a particular, extremely violent and disciplined international organization, far more deadly than the local gang-bangers who hang around the 7-Eleven flashing their 9mm handguns and worrying parents. CRIMINAL TERRORISM SURGE The present surge in international crime and criminal terrorism — an accurate description — would be mostly a matter for the police and Interpol had it not been for two other phenomena of the late 20th century. The first, of course, is the growth of international terrorism for religious or political purposes with some state sponsors, principally Iran, and, in this case, the growth of Islamic radicalism south of our border. While some religious extremism is clearly nihilistic, much has a political objective — especially terrorism sponsored by Iran, whose foreign policy appears to be an admixture of Islamic fervor and Iranian geopolitical maneuvering. Latin America is not immune to Islamic influence, since there has been a considerable Muslim immigration to that region, particularly since the Lebanese Diaspora began in the last decades of the 20th century. As a result of immigration and proselytizing, Islam has become one of the fastest-growing religions in Latin America; more than 6 million Muslims live in South American cities, many of them dispossessed and subject to radicalization. In specific locales — particularly the tri-border area between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil around the town of Ciudad del Este, Paraguay — fundraising for Hezbollah, al-Qaida and possibly Hamas takes place amid an environment of drug and arms trafficking, money laundering and other illicit activities. Mario Baizan, a former Argentine presidential adviser, described the town as one of the world's biggest centers for financing of the pro-Iranian militant group Hezbollah. The tri-border area, the Andean Ridge countries bordering Colombia, and routes north through Central America and Mexico are checkpoints on routes for drug, arms and human traffic moving north toward the U.S. border. ANTI-AMERICAN SOCIALISM The second phenomenon has been the rebirth of virulently anti-American socialism in South America, led by Venezuela under its charismatic leader, Hugo Chavez, and his growing alliance with state-sponsored terrorism. While the tendency in U.S. circles is to view Chavez as something of a buffoon placed temporarily atop a modern and friendly state,

Re: Terror at the border
One must certainly applaud such a complete and well documented threat assesment as this. IMHO there is a simple reason the terrorists have held off until now. Remember, our terrorist enemies, State and non-State, openly cheered for and lobbied for the election of Obama. They would certainly not hurt his chances by an attack during the campaign. Now USA territory is fair game again for the first time since 9-11. Obama has promised only to talk to them, and somehow one doubts this will suffice. Rush: It's Christmas every day for Democrats
Talk-radio giant Rush Limbaugh is blasting the so-called economic stimulus plan of President Obama and the Democrat-led Congress, calling it an assault on capitalism intentionally designed to harm the private sector and lead to bigger government. This is a full-fledged attack on capitalism, and the leftists Democrats have been seeking this for the longest time, Limbaugh said on his program this afternoon. That's why they can't stop themselves. It is Christmas morning every day for these people. There's nobody that can stop them. A question e-mailed to the host asked if the Democrats really understood that they're destroying the source of the wealth they want to redistribute. Yes! Limbaugh exclaimed. These people are not uneducated and stupid. They know full well what they are doing. They are destroying the engine that creates wealth, the private sector, and they are turning it to the government. If people are just left alone, a recession cannot happen in and of itself, he explained. The whole point of people engaging in commerce is growth. Limbaugh said the economic downturn has not been caused by the poor schlubs in charge of banks, but rather government spending, irresponsible orders from government to banks telling them they had to lend to people who had no business borrowing money. Recessions are caused by intervention, obstruction, you name it. If left alone, economies do not go into recession. Limbaugh said there's already huge outrage growing among the public, and there would be a backlash against the Democrats when they're eventually ousted from control. We're gonna turn the power of government against the Democrats and the left and weaken you and break you into little pieces. Because, my friends, the day has passed when we can become passive and be passive about what they are doing. We will use the political and legal system as they have and are, and we will use it to promote our party and diminish theirs. We're gonna become activists, he added. We'll take back our government. It's going to be a bigger, more powerful, stronger government and we're going to turn it against the left in ways they could have never imagined. Limbaugh suggested some of the possible action could be to implement a so-called Fairness Doctrine on television broadcasters, mandating equal time for conservative political views on TV, not just radio as Democrats have been discussing recently. He also said the political right would defund labor unions and community organizations such as ACORN, and use the entire power of the federal government to uproot all of the criminal activity among Democrats. We're going to find every bit of corruption we can and we're going to sic the attorney general and the Justice Department and the U.S. attorneys on you people just as you have been doing to the people of the right and the Republican Party for 50 years, he said. He specifically mentioned probes of Democrat lawmakers such as Barney Frank and Chris Dodd, billionaire activist George Soros, as well as the entire Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae lending organizations. It's payback time, he said. http://worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.viewpageId=88601 --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ Thanks for being part of PoliticalForum at Google Groups. Is Obama Insane?
From: Travis Subject: Is Obama Insane? Date: Wednesday, February 11, 2009 Tuesday, February 10, 2009 Is Obama Insanehttp://www.u4prez.com/Blogs/ericgurr/Is-Obama-Insane.html If the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result, I must content our president is insane. The so-called stimulus plan is nothing new. Governments in Japan, France, Sweden, Argentina, Brazil and countless others have tried this approach. The United States tried it under Roosevelt during the Great Depression, it did not work then, it will not work now. A few specific examples. Germany after World War I Brazil in 1990 (inflation rate reached 30,000% The lost decade in Japan My question to Mr. Obama is thus: What leads you to believe that this will work? During the Great Depression President Roosevelt paid farmers not to grow certain crops and to destroy millions of hogs to raise the price. This at a time when people were starving. Today President Obama wants to take hundreds of billions of dollars out of an already bad economy, and give it state governments. The same state governments (like California) who have wasted their money for years and now find themselves at the brink of bankruptcy. This administration and the spending plan have become dangerous! In the past I've written that my biggest concern was the baby-boomers and social security. This is no longer in my view the biggest threat facing our nation. Social Security payments will be cut in half within ten years, and perhaps as soon as five years. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WE NOW FACE IS WAR IN EUROPE AND CIVIL UNREST AT HOME Many will comment that this is alarmist rhetoric. No, it is in fact history. Facism took root in Europe during the thirties in response to a devalued Mark in Germany and economic strife in Italy. This pattern will be repeated in the coming years. As the economies of the world crumble, people will look for a scapegoat. When a critical mass rallies around the cry of these despots, war is sure to follow. Here in the United States, it is not unlikely that separatists groups will arise, and will have political power. Those without political power will resort to violence. When this pattern of history begins to repeat itself the world will once again look to the United States for assistance in fighting tyranny. When the people of the United States try to help they will find that the government has looted the treasury and there is no money left to buy bullets. Recessions and Depressions can be good things. They expose weakness in the economy, they expose bad businesses and bad banks. When the bottom is found these assets are liquidated and we can begin to build a stronger future. This is not happening today. We are taking the path of least resistance by borrowing from our future and printing money. The word crisis is attached to every perceived social injustice. How many times have you heard the word from politicians in the past? We still talk about the health care crisis, the environmental crisis, the oil crisis, the banking crisis. Let me tell you my friends you are about to learn the meaning of the only crisis that matters, the survival crisis. My fear isn't that the stimulus package will not work, my fear is that spending will work. GDP will stabilize and the unemployment rate will stabilize or go down. But this will only encourage the Democrats to spend more money, and the Republicans will have lost the will to fight. The next spending package will be smaller, but will not work, to be followed by the biggest monstrosity yet. And then the wheels of the economy will collapse entirely. I watched President Obama's press conferece in stunned silence. I felt sure that the media would understand that we are headed for disaster, Obama said it himself. Not one member of the press brought up Japan, the hyper-inflation of South America, or the spending failures of the Roosevelt administration. Listening to Obama respond to the questions was even more disturbing. The man doesn't appear to posses even a basic understanding of economics. Perhaps I am wrong. Perhaps Mr. Obamas ego has not gotten the best of him and he is not insane. There is only one way to tell. We must force the media through e-mails and phone calls to demand action. If they can force him to answer the question, What historical precedence leads you to believe this will work? maybe they can force him in to a moments reflection and we can pull back from the brink. If not, we face tragedy. This is the case because today, it would be so easy to fix the economy. We have burdened business with excessive taxes and regulations for decades. We should peel back a few layers of regulation, eliminate the corporate tax, lower the tax rate on incomes for all levels of income, raise interest rates (to stabilize the dollar), and increase the deposit requirement for banks. We should let the bad businesses fail, let the bad banks fail, and sell the assets for
The First Time I Heard Of Barack by Tom Fife
From: Travis Subject: The First Time I Heard Of Barack by Tom Fife Date: Wednesday, February 11, 2009, http://www.rense.com/general84/brck.htm *The First Time I Heard Of Barack* By Tom Fife 11-20-8 During the period of roughly February 1992 to mid 1994, I was making frequent trips to Moscow, Russia, in the process of starting a software development joint-venture company with some people from the Russian scientific community. One of the men in charge on the Russian side was named V. M.; he had a wife named T.M. V. was a level-headed scientist while his wife was rather deeply committed to the losing Communist cause - a cause she obviously was not abandoning. One evening, during a trip early in 1992, the American half of our venture were invited to V. T.'s Moscow flat as we were about to return to the States. The party went well and we had the normal dinner discussions. As the evening wore on, T. developed a decidedly rough anti-American edge - one her husband tried to quietly rein in. The bottom line of the tirade she started against the United States went something like this: You Americans always like to think that you have the perfect government and your people are always so perfect. Well then, why haven't you had a woman president by now? You had a chance to vote for a woman vice-president and you didn't do it. The general response went something along the lines that you don't vote for someone just because of their sex. Besides, you don't vote for vice-president, but the president and vice-president as a ticket. Well, I think you are going to be surprised when you get a black president very soon. The consensus we expressed was that we didn't think there was anything innately barring that. The right person at the right time and sure, America would try to vote for the right person, be he or she black or not. What if I told you that you will have a black president very soon and he will be a Communist? The out-of-the-blue remark was met by our stares. She continued, Well, you will; and he will be a Communist. It was then that the husband unsuccessfully tried to change the subject; but she was on a roll and would have nothing of it. One of us asked, It sounds like you know something we don't know. Yes, it is true. This is not some idle talk. He is already born and he is educated and being groomed to be president right now. You will be impressed to know that he has gone to the best schools of Presidents. He is what you call Ivy League. You don't believe me, but he is real and I even know his name. His name is Barack. His mother is white and American and his father is black from Africa. That's right, a chocolate baby! And he's going to be your President. She became more and more smug as she presented her stream of detailed knowledge and predictions so matter-of-factly - as though all were foregone conclusions. It's all been thought out. His father is not an American black so he won't have that social slave stigma. He is intelligent and he is half white and has been raised from the cradle to be an atheist and a Communist. He's gone to the finest schools. He is being guided every step of the way and he will be irresistible to America. We sat there not knowing what to say. She was obviously very happy that the Communists were doing this and that it would somehow be a thumbing of their collective noses at America: they would give us a black president and he'd be a Communist to boot. She made it quite obvious that she thought that this was going to breathe new life into world Communism. From this and other conversations with her, she always asserted that Communism was far from dead. She was full of little details about him that she was eager to relate. I thought that maybe she was trying to show off that this truly was a real person and not just hot air. She rattled off a complete litany. He was from Hawaii. He went to school in California. He lived in Chicago. He was soon to be elected to the legislature. Have no doubt: he is one of us, a Soviet. At one point, she related some sort of San Francisco connection, but I didn't understand what the point was and don't recall much about that. I was just left with the notion that she considered the city to be some sort of a center for their activity here. Since I had dabbled in languages, I knew a smattering of Arabic. I made a comment: If I remember correctly, 'Barack' comes from the Arabic word for 'Blessing.' That seems to be an odd name for an American. She replied quickly, Yes. It is 'African', she insisted, and he will be a blessing for world Communism. We will regain our strength and become the number one power in the world. She continued with something to the effect that America was at the same time the great hope and the great obstacle for Communism. America would have to be converted to Communism and Barack was going to pave the way. So, what does this conversation from 1992 prove? Well, it's definitely anecdotal. It doesn't prove that Obama has had

Stimulus Plan Stimulates Big Labor's Forced Dues Revenue
From: *Travis* Date: Wed, Feb 11, 2009 Subject: Stimulus Plan Stimulates Big Labor's Forced Dues Revenue Lots of links at source--also more columns. From the National Right to Work Legal Defense Fund. --J. http://www.nrtw.org/en/blog/stimulus-big-labor-02092109 Stimulus Plan Stimulates Big Labor's Forced Dues Revenue Mon, 02/09/2009 - 15:32 †Nick Cote Last Friday afternoon, as the Senate prepared to pass the massive, pork-filled “stimulus†bill, President Barack Obama quietly arranged to virtually ensure that every construction project funded by the federal government will result in more forced union dues revenue for Big Labor. The new executive order signed by Obama on Friday encourages government bureaucrats to adopt discriminatory, union-only project labor agreements for any “large-scale construction project††defined as any project costing over $25 million †and thus discriminate against the 92.5 percent of private sector workers who have chosen for a wide variety of reasons not to join a union. With the “stimulus†bill approaching one trillion dollars including many such projects, Big Labor stands to rake in literally hundreds of millions of dollars in new forced-dues revenue seized straight out of workers’ paychecks, whether they support the union or not. (Meanwhile, other stimulus funds will go to groups with strong ties to organized labor.) President Obama’s new executive order comes a week after he issued two other executive orders giving the Secretary of Labor unchecked, unprecedented authority to blacklist non-union employees wanting to work on federal contracts. Taken together, the new executive orders indicate President Obama is quite eager to repay the union bosses for spending well over one billion dollars (in mostly forced union dues) to elect Obama and other pro-forced unionism candidates. Moreover, Big Labor’s high command is likely to funnel that money right back into its political machine in expectation of even more forced unionism power grabs †including efforts toward the ultimate goal of eliminating all 22 state Right to Work laws by federal fiat. __._,_.___ Messageshttp://groups.yahoo.com/group/grendelreport/messages;_ylc=X3oDMTJmczlib29oBF9TAzk3MzU5NzE0BGdycElkAzIwMTk0ODA2BGdycHNwSWQDMTcwNTMyMzY2NwRzZWMDZnRyBHNsawNtc2dzBHN0aW1lAzEyMzQzNjg3NDQ- MARKETPLACE -- From kitchen basics to easy recipes - join the Group from Kraft Foods http://us.ard.yahoo.com/SIG=13rjol32o/M=493064.12016295.13271503.10835568/D=groups/S=1705323667:MKP1/Y=YAHOO/EXP=1234375944/L=/B=cp11DEPDhEo-/J=1234368744960146/A=5530388/R=0/SIG=11nuutlas/*http://explore.yahoo.com/groups/kraftmealsmadesimple/ [image: Yahoo! NEW YORK (CNN) -- The wife of accused swindler Bernard Madoff pulled $15.5 million out of a Madoff-related brokerage firm in Massachusetts in the weeks before his arrest, authorities there disclosed Wednesday. Bernard Madoff is under 24-hour house arrest in his Upper East Side luxury apartment. The withdrawals by Ruth Madoff took place in November and December, according to a complaint filed by state regulators against Cohmad Securities, a firm they said was intertwined with Madoff's New York- based company. The regulators say Cohmad has refused to provide information about its ties to Madoff, who is accused of running a Ponzi scheme that may have cost investors up to $50 billion. Daily wire transaction reports show Cohmad was aware of transfers to and from Madoff-related accounts, the filing states. For example, the few reports produced by Cohmad show that Ruth Madoff withdrew $5.5 million on November 25, 2008 and withdrew $10 million on December 10, 2008, investigators said. Bernard Madoff, 70, was arrested December 11 and is currently under house arrest in his Manhattan luxury apartment. He faces one charge of securities fraud in connection with an international scheme that has cost some investors their life savings and could face up to 20 years in prison and a $5 million fine if convicted. In January, prosecutors tried to revoke his $10 million bail after he mailed more than $1 million worth of diamond-studded jewelry to friends and family, a move they said showed he was trying to move assets out of government hands. But a judge ruled Madoff was neither a danger to the community nor a flight risk. Don't Miss List of Madoff 'customers' runs into the thousands SEC nominee to be grilled on Madoff Prosecutors and Madoff's lawyers have agreed for a second time to push back the deadline for an indictment or probable cause hearing for the former investor, sources close to the case said Wednesday. The previous deadline of Wednesday -- which was itself a delay -- has now been moved back another 30 days. Madoff and the Securities and Exchange Commission already have agreed to a partial civil judgment against the disgraced investment manager, one that could eventually force him to pay fines and return investors' money. Under the terms of the deal, Madoff will keep a previously reached agreement to freeze his assets and not to violate any other securities laws, but it does not require him to admit or deny any allegations. --- imo - they were tipped off --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ Thanks for being part of PoliticalForum at Google Groups. I also might add, that to date, you have refused to answer my one simple question: Where were you, with your humanitarian viewpoints and beliefs, six months ago, when Hamas and Hezbollah were firing missiles into Israeli schools, day care centers and grocery stores? Despite liberal howling and foot-stomping, not subsidizing illegitimacy led, like night into day, to less illegitimacy. Welfare recipients got jobs, as the hard-core unemployables were coaxed away from their TV sets and into the workforce. For the first time in decades, the ever-increasing illegitimacy rate stopped spiraling upward. As proof that that welfare reform was a smashing success, a few years later, Bill Clinton started claiming full credit for the bill. Well, that's over. Second, bureaucrats at Health and Human Services will electronically collect every citizen's complete medical records and determine appropriate medical care. Judging by the care that the State Department took with private visa records last year, that the Ohio government took with Joe the Plumber's government records, that the Pentagon took with Linda Tripp's employment records in 1998, and that the FBI took with thousands of top secret raw background files in President Clinton's first term, the bright side is: We'll finally be able to find out if Bill Clinton has syphilis -- all thanks to the stimulus bill! HHS bureaucrats will soon be empowered to overrule your doctor. Doctors who don't comply with the government's treatment protocols will be fined. That's right: Instead of your treatment being determined by your doctor, it will be settled on by some narcoleptic half-wit in Washington who couldn't get a job in the private sector. And a brand-new set of bureaucrats in the newly created office of National Coordinator of Health Information Technology will be empowered to cut off treatments that merely prolong life. Sorry, Mom and Pop, Big Brother said it's time to go. At every other workplace in the nation -- even Wal-Mart! -- workers are being laid off. But no one at any of the bloated government bureaucracies ever need fear receiving a pink slip. Terms like the Libor rate, securitization, liquidity and fiscal stimulus leaves you feeling just plain stupid. So; you ask, am I that friggin stupid? Well, yes, yes you are. Your first clue should have been that short bus your parents put you on as they stood on the curb and waved like monkeys as some nurse ratchet strapped a helmet on your big ole water head. But hey; that’s all in the past… your past. Anyway, water head, that’s why I’m here. To convert the simple into bite sized nuggets of special Ed. Just for you Skippy! The Libor is the rate of interest banks charge each other; if they loaned to each other. Since they don’t, and probably never will again; let’s just… never mind, doesn’t matter. Now; this is important so pencils down; all eyes on me. Oh; and set up straight, after all, humpbacks and water heads can only get work in Romanian towers atop gargoyles. So… posture matters. Anyway, the “fiscal stimulus” you’ve been seeing on television, “between Jefferson re-runs”. Actually it’s not that difficult. Think of it this way; Barney Frank spent too much time sidling Freddie’s Fannie and this made your $100,000.00 house worth about what a “happy meal” costs. Which; when you think about it, is kind of ironic considering you have to be up at 4:00 A.M. to start making happy meals. By the way; “Ironic” means it’s a hoot for everyone but you. Makes you wish you’d paid more attention in math class instead of drooling over Sally with the braces and jumbo ears. Okay; now your, “happy meal” house is mortgaged to the hilt and because of the downturn in the economy there’s no overtime for you at those golden arches. And; you’re too damn lazy to pickup cans and too stupid to rob banks. What’s a liberal idiot to do? Well; you may have an out that doesn’t get you off the couch or cause you to miss “Weezzie” giving George what for. That is if you were lucky enough to finance your house with either Citigroup or Bank of America. Because; if you did, if you pinned your tail on either of those donkeys, then guess what Billy Joe Bob? This is your lucky day! Go ahead and crack open another Falstaff, kick your dog and kiss your cousin cause you just got luckier than an adopted kitty outside a Korean restaurant. Why? I’ll tell you why, because they are insolvent. Our benevolent government, “benevolent is what your sister is when she lets you sleep one off, on her back porch” whipped out the federal credit card and bought both banks for ten times what they are worth. And, now, between them, they couldn’t finance fifteen minutes with the Spitzer girl if they both had a buy one get one free coupon. I’m sorry; I just realized that you’ve probably stopped scratching your ass and now have your, “butt hand” scratching your head, wondering; just what the hell is, “insolvent”? Let me explain it this way… remember when you spent your whole paycheck at the jingly bar, “one dollar at a time” and couldn’t pay the rent on your double wide? You had to sleep in your truck and dumpster dive for dried cheese, off pizza boxes. You were insolvent! Now… solvent is what you drink when you’re out of beer money. Here’s what you need to know. As an uneducated, democrat rube, you have all the qualifications for stimulus. And; I don’t mean what happens to you when your 250 lb. cousin bends over in front of you. Obama has a promise for you. He won’t rest until he finds a productive citizen to take from so your lazy ass can continue producing offspring with buck teeth and rickets. Hellavu country isn’t it? Liberians facing mass deportation from U.S.
From: *Travis* Date: Wed, Feb 11, 2009 Subject: Liberians facing mass deportation from U.S. Better a mass deportation of Muslims! B *Liberians facing mass deportation from U.S.* - Story Highlights - 14,000 Liberians took advantage of U.S. temporary status during civil war - Liberians have to return home when status exemption expires March 31 - Corvah Akoiwala: My fear is, who am I going to leave my kids with? - Sen. Jack Reed pushing for extension to allow Liberians to stay By Eric Marrapodi and Chris Welch CNN *BROOKLYN CENTER, Minnesota (CNN)* -- Thousands of Liberians living in the United States face deportation March 31 when a federal immigration status created for humanitarian purposes expires. In the 1990s, a bloody civil war raged through the West African nation, killing 250,000 people and displacing more than a million, according to a U.N. report. The United States extended temporary protection status to all Liberians who could get to America, and 14,000 of them took advantage of that humanitarian offer. Temporary protection status is an immigration status somewhere between political asylum and refugee status. Administered by the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services, it is extended to nationals of countries facing civil unrest or natural disaster. For years, the temporary protection status for Liberians was extended as the situation there worsened under dictator Charles Taylor. But Taylor was ousted in 2003 and Ellen Johnson Sirleaf was elected Liberia's first female president in 2006. In 2007, citing the progress in Liberia, President George W. Bush signed an order of delayed enforced departure for Liberians who had been under temporary protection status, giving them 18 months to return to Liberia.[image: Video]Watch more on the uncertainty of Liberians living in U.S. »http://cnn.site.printthis.clickability.com/pt/cpt?action=cpttitle=Liberians+facing+mass+deportation+from+U.S.+-+CNN.comexpire=-1urlID=34111890fb=Yurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cnn.com%2F2009%2FUS%2F02%2F09%2Fliberians.deportation%2Findex.htmlpartnerID=211911#cnnSTCVideo Corvah Akoiwala, a Liberian national who was fresh out of college when civil war broke out, remembers how it used to be there. They dragged us from our homes, they were shooting all around us. They said they were going to have us killed, he said On Tupero Road they had a killing field. Like every day they took someone to this field and they would just shoot them in front of everybody. It was just terrible, he said. He came to the United States in 1992 and settled in Rhode Island. A civil engineer by education, Akoiwala married and had three children, all of whom are American citizens. For the past 17 years he's worked, paid his taxes and contributed to his community. He and his wife were granted temporary protection status but now both face deportation. On March 31 they will go from being legal residents to illegal aliens. My fear is, who am I going to leave my kids with? he said. Who am I going to leave them with?I want to stay here and see them grow up to be responsible citizens and then I can go back. The Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Serviceshttp://topics.cnn.com/topics/U_S_Bureau_of_Immigration_and_Customs_Enforcement/said approximately 3,600 Liberian http://topics.cnn.com/topics/Liberia/ nationals are facing delayed enforced departure, but Liberian community leaders think the number may be twice that because, they said, many Liberians went underground and did not reregister with immigration services, knowing the delayed enforced departure status meant leaving the country. Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, about an hour north of Minneapolis, has a thriving Liberian community. Many now worry about losing their jobs, homes and businesses. Seyondi Roberts, a hairdresser, said 65 percent of her customers are Liberians facing delayed enforced departure. We're praying that they don't send them back. But if they do, it will have a serious effect on the business. I do mainly African hair, so it's going to have a real big, big impact on the business, she said. Aba Hamilton Dolo also lives in the Brooklyn Center area and is slated for departure. She said she has nightmares and panic attacks at the prospect of being separated from her two young American-born children. Please consider what would happen to our families if we were sent home, she begs. I'm sorry; I just realized that you've probably stopped scratching your ass and now have your, butt hand scratching your head, wondering; just what the hell is, insolvent? Let me explain it this way… remember when you spent your whole paycheck at the jingly bar, one dollar at a time and couldn't pay the rent on your double wide? You had to sleep in your truck and dumpster dive for dried cheese, off pizza boxes. You were insolvent! Now… solvent is what you drink when you're out of beer money. Here's what you need to know. As an uneducated, democrat rube, you have all the qualifications for stimulus. And; I don't mean what happens to you when your 250 lb. cousin bends over in front of you. Obama has a promise for you. He won't rest until he finds a productive citizen to take from so your lazy ass can continue producing offspring with buck teeth and rickets. Hellavu country isn't it? But hey; that's all in the past… your past. Anyway, water head, that's why I'm here. To convert the simple into bite sized nuggets of special Ed. Just for you Skippy! Think of it this way; Barney Frank spent too much time sidling Freddie's Fannie and this made your $100,000.00 house worth about what a happy meal costs. Which; when you think about it, is kind of ironic considering you have to be up at 4:00 A.M. to start making happy meals. By the way; Ironic means it's a hoot for everyone but you. Makes you wish you'd paid more attention in math class instead of drooling over Sally with the braces and jumbo ears. Okay; now your, happy meal house is mortgaged to the hilt and because of the downturn in the economy there's no overtime for you at those golden arches. And; you're too damn lazy to pickup cans and too stupid to rob banks. What's a liberal idiot to do? Well; you may have an out that doesn't get you off the couch or cause you to miss Weezzie giving George what for. Why?
