Hi David,
Well I got close, I think, the bom generated from Protel
must not have the 'group' option _not_ clicked.
'Sort without formatting' would run without errors, but
it only added a QTY column with the value of '1' in it
for all the rows, ie no grouping.

Lomax what you seem to be insinuating here is that Orcad devotees are as

Is it surprising that Mr. Gillatt hated Protel? He expected it to work like

Dunno about XP, but that's certainly how I do big schematic parts in

Robert,
Good Morning!
Harsh! Protel works for me and I've got lots of projects in Protel. I can't switch
unless I can prove another software works better, costs no more than Protel, and
doesn't have a big learning curve.
Don't rain on our Protel parade. It's all we've got.

Your attitude only tells one thing: You are experiencing an error 40 (40 cm
behind the keyboard=you).
I have worked with Protel for approx 15 years now and I have never
experienced that kind of problems. It does hierachical design witout any
problems.
I think your problem is you.

All I get out of it is run time error 13 type mismatch.
Is the procedure just open file, load csv and go?

Er, are you sure? Just go into the error matrix, and set each of the
'unconnected' boxes to a warning.
Any point where you think that unconnected is OK, stick a No-ERC on
the schematic, and job d
Hi all,
If you've ever pulled your hair out because you can't get a sensible BOM
into Excel, for the purpose of ordering parts and assembling PCBs, then I
may have the answer. I've written a single click BOM sorter in Excel 2000
VBA, to sort the 'CSV' or 'Client spreadsheet' BOMs into a sensible f

Hi all, I used to use Protel 99SE about 3 years ago. Then with a new
job, the company has Orcad. I've been using Orcad now for the 3 years
and I am absolutely disgusted with it. I'm trying to convince
management to go to Protel. All I wanted to know is how everyone
feels about the new Protel DXP. I
