Could this be because you were editing the pad location instead of the
component location?
I have a couple of single (through hole) pad test point parts with which
that I have noticed this - double clicking the pad brings up the pad
location properties box not the component location properties box
P99's just wasted a few more minutes of my life...
Having placed an array of decoupling capacitors, I (as usual)
wanted to place all the part types on top of each other. Since it
was a larger array of caps than usual (its a huge DSP), I thought I'd
do it using global, and just set all their X,Y
Hmm you say selection box. I assume you mean dropdown box?
The global criterion for the selection is 'Any', 'Same', 'Different' I
think.
So you had this set on 'Same'?
The selection box itself is just a property of the particular item you've
selected, and is only used if the criterion is set to

Yep.

I tend to do that a lot as well. I'm getting in the habit of editing my test
points in
Thank goodness, I'm not the only one that stumbled accross this.
It is indeed a bug, the selectionbox doesn't work when you want to globally
edit designator/part field locations, values or fonts.
I noticed that one step too late (couldn't undo) a while ago and had to
manually correct 480 resistor

Can anyone tell me how to quickly search for a particular component in
the Protel Libraries? ...for example, I need to find the library
component for the LM317, at the moment I do this by adding a likely
library to my design, then look inside it. There has to be a better way!

For Schematics:
Tools > Find Component
For PCB Layouts:
You will need to download the Excel spreadsheet from
Protel that list all the parts in their libraries and
Look there.

Peter,
Protel, somewhere along the way did do some documents that listed the contents
of their libraries. I can't tell you for sure where to find them nor if they are worth
finding since I do not use Protel Libraries at all. Don't even load them on my machine
when I install.
Best
