Funny, I had a really long drawn out response but it really boils down to this: We all want QtCreator to be best in class. We are all passionate about QtCreator and want to see it succeed. That is all. Some of us just may not possess the "socially acceptable phrasing" you write about. --

Thank you Andre, for putting that much more tactfully. My frustration is not due to anyone on this list, but a more general frustration with modern UIs that lack intuitiveness. It seems that it's assumed tht people will click around and explore the UI, however I claim this is a product of bad

Jason, I do not work for the Qt Company, nor I do QtC programming. So my position is my own. We might differ in opinions on who drives which changes & why. But I'm sure we can agree on the truth that we can cooperate in several ways to move QtC stuff as we think it should be, some of them are:

I reject your position entirely. 1. We do not need to conceed change for the sake of change. Change should only happen when there is an improvement.  2. Metro has flopped. Even MS can't move the market. It's wrong to assume that they dictate UI, or UX culture. Culture is a societial construct.

I agree that there may be more than one way to do things right. This I don't have a problem with. My problem, just so we are clear, are UX/UI designers who come up with something "new" but do not base the new design on any type of user research, studies or actual user feedback that tells them

Mike, It's romatic to look at good old times, and I understand your frustation, but things are just that way now. You need the market force of Apple, Google or Microsoft to set a trend (just like skeu-then-flat, paper and metro). Better to adapt, there are more than one way to do things right,

Oops, he did. My email client showed it to me in my inbox and my Creator folder. Weird. Anyway, I can make some statements about how ridiculous the glossiness was in the mid 2000s. It was really getting out of hand. And there were information density overload, particularly on the PC UI side.
