Happy belated birthday Ron-
I am soon approaching my nineteenth year as a quad, and I have learned that the
acceptance with my disability has become easier over the years too. I believe
that people in general have accepted those of us with disabilities more, much
more than they did back in
hello guys,
tim mentioned the word freak and it got me thinking about my first vacation
as a quad. anyway about 5 years ago my gf at the time wanted me to go on her
family vacation. as you can imagine i was very hesitant due to bowell routines
every other day, but shes like no problem i
Sorry- but your ex gf's mom sounds like she was a royal inconsiderate capital
biotch! I like to mess with the real freaks (those like your ex gf's mom),
their heads are already messed up so I like to add to it.
Next time you are on an elevator and some AB ask's what happened, simply tell
Makes you wonder Ron, how much of a freak she would have considered you being,
if you had been a millionaire ? It is weird how many look down or don't want
much to do with the disabled. Funny though most of us used to be fit and able
ourselves.I found that more and more people are becoming
Yes Ron, you could be right with the bias, but I've got to consider any
complex situation like a frothing argument uses up too much brain power to
compose a sentence and you get thing like what you heard.
The more intense the argument, the shorter the sentence... until its down to
one or
I never heard it described like that W..that does make sense for many
situations we have all seen though LOL Dan

Hi Ron,
I tried Amytriptyline for nerve pain and all I wanted to do was seep and eat.
When I stopped taking it, I didn't start taking anything else for the nerve
pain.

Hi Wheels,
I agree with you on both counts. Unless I'm mistaken, his injury was
sustained while landing a plane in 1954, less than one year after I was born.
That is a lifetime of knowledge that he carries in his mind. Whatever it is,
I wish him well in all that he does in the future.
Young people definitely think they’re invincible but what I hate the most
are the lucky ones that make a full recovery and preach that hard work can
cure anyone and those of us that are still disabled are guilty of not
trying.

Ron,
I am so sorry you had to experience that! Some people are so damn
insensitive and selfish. Thank God, things have changed through the years. I
know
things aren't what they should be, but hopefully, we are much more acceptable
than 30 years ago. I agree with you and Tim both,

Tim, that was hilarious! I'm going to keep that one in mind for later use.

Mark,
This is so true.
Here is one guy who said that same line you typed, He preached that hard
work cured him of his paralysis. The only thing that wasn't, was his one arm.
(I believe it was his right.)
Anyhow that guy was Bob Dole the Republican candidate for President.
Well, when
My gosh, I knew he had been a quad a long time and he was probably the
oldest that I know of, but I had no idea that he was injured in the 50s. I
did, however, meet a quadriplegic who was about the same level as I am
(C2-3) who was hurt in and some sort of accident during the last year of the
I must agree Mark, that is my absolute pet peeve also. However, the ones

this really gall me. They don't understand their implication is that I
obviously wasn't devout enough. How the hell do they know?

Well, I'll be going into the hospital in a few days for caregiver respite.
This is the first time in four years that I have done this, so I will have
to temporarily leave the list for a little while.
The worst part for me is I am beginning the respite with a colonoscopy.
The joy!
I'll look

I remember hearing him talk about his return from WW2 where he was hit by a
machine gun during a battle. He wasn't saying he was physically paralyzed. He
was paralyzed by a self-pity that had overcome him. He wasn't able to overcome
the mental paralysis that had such a hold of him. As a liberal
A colonoscopy! Man, you get all the luck!
I hope everythings negative and they find those lego blocks you had as a child.
Seriously, may the Lord watch over you and keep you safe.
Best Wishes for a Happy Homecoming,
john
