I am a C4 complete. October 1990, fell off scaffolding in my barn.
Shoulder shrug is it. I have had to have three tracheotomies, but
fortunately for me I was able to get off of each
Joan, you are one tough cookie. I am a c-5 and I don't think I have anything
near your gumption and zest. Hang tough and God bless. Willis

I was too sick. So, I thought if I treat my puppy as a service dog, with

I go to physical therapy twice a week where there are professional hand

work with by only sitting on a table top. You just need to hunt for one but

Hi,
Where do you order your abdominal binders? I know this question before but
would like to know about the supports?

Hello,
Happy Holidays to everyone. How do the people with a C4-5 injury keep your arms

the binder bunches up. With supports you need to be watchful for sores.
Wish I could more because this is important to me daily for many reasons. I
hope you pursue it.

I got a deep sea fishing scale at a yard sale years ago. Every now and then my
aid hooks it to the ceiling lift and as I raise up we get my weight. To check
the accuracy, simply life something with a known weight like a 20lb dumb bell
or a bag of stuff you weigh on a bathroom scale first, like

I'm not sure if this will help, but you need to probably contact the
Department of Veterans Affairs to determine if he is a veteran. If you
received a general discharge and was in the service longer than six months,
usually they are considered veterans. At least that's what I believe.
You make me feel guilty Joan. I also can do nothing but shoulder shrugs,
however, I do try to get out every day that I can and ride around the half
mile loop I have in my neighborhood. Just doing that and moving my neck
back and forth gives me some exercise. Not nearly as much as I need and my

I, however, manage to eat a little bit too much and now have a quad belly.
I swore I'd never would, but it's definitely appeared over the last couple

I use my regular wrist supports and loop one of it's straps around the
peddle.
But they make a good grasping glove for that. Allegro has them, though not
cheap.

I'm confused. Are these hand cycles we're talking about motorized and your
hands or placed on them (or strapped on them) for exercise, or do your own
muscles do the work? I have absolutely no voluntary movement forward or back
or up or down in my arms. I can raise my shoulders and that is
When I was first injured I applied for a service dog, and they told me they
had never trained a dog for my level. They suggested that I train my own
dog, but as you all know the first couple of years is usually taken up with
learning how to live in our new bodies-and mindset too.

The hand cycle I know of is powered entirely by you. My injury is C5
leaving no triceps, hand nor wrist movement. When I began this exercise I
could hardly move the wheel at zero resistance. I now crank that wheel for
ten minutes with little to no resistance applied. The aerobic activity gets
