I did the same thing when ordering the extrem, the salesman said everything was ordered like I wonted. It came with no back, and regular arm rest. I called the company andthey told me they didn't do backs, that I would get one through my local vender. Well my vender put one on he had at no charge, but I had to pay for the arm rest. I went round and round with the company, they basically told me tough shit. They made me pay upfront before they would order it, now I see why. Hell won't be hot enough for some of them pricks. Re: [QUAD-L] how to report VERY bad DME dealer/repairer
Folks, In July, I initiated the repair of my chair armrests, bald tires, wrong size chair, etc. My insurance co. called them yesterday and found out that the parts were just ordered a few weeks ago: probably because I faxed them to advise status. These losers do not get it. Any suggestions on how to drop the hammer so that they do not continue to provide terrible service to our peers? Thank you, Brien

Only the payer can complain, but you can begin the ball rolling by contacting the manufacturer of your chair's customer relations department, in writing. Offer your side of the story and present only the facts. Speculation is anything that can't be proven, so make sure that you have your names, faces, dates and payee correct as you begin the process. Make sure that your insurance company receives a copy of your report and make sure that you provide your telephone number and email address so that they can get back to you directly, if needed. Make sure that you are able to supply them with the serial number and damages and how this delay has affected you, your health and well being. This is how you begin the process. Best Wishes! [QUAD-L] Need help about my rehab shower commode chair
I have a Guardian rehab commode shower chair made by Sunrise Medical---same company that makes Quickie. Mine is 8 years old and front caster wheels are ok but the part where the fork goes into the holder or hinge has become very wobbly and dangerous---I tried to get my insurance to help fix it or get me a new one but they refused, saying they never cover any of those now. Well the company that repairs all my chairs told me it's an older model and don't want to try and get parts for it.( National Seating and Mobility.) I called Sunrise but the lady there said I could probably get the parts but must know the number or what the parts are called--i'm not sure of that and can't find any pictures and she can't find out either. My back wheels are 24inch like a wheelchair and the front--With the problem is 8inch or a bit over 8. My wife can't hardly get me to the shower and a new one cost $ 900 or more, that we can't afford . ( Does anyone have an idea how I can find out how to get the front end replacement parts ? Thanks so much, Dan

I'm c-5/6 incomplete with enough arm strength to do most all my own transfers, but there's no way I'd be able to help another person do a transfer. I've heard that more and more OT aides are assisting the therapists. I could also become a supervisor. What do you all think? Luke

Lawyers are only good when their is proven injury or loss. You'd be surprised how helpful manufacturers can be when everything is presented to them in an organized complaint and then following up. Granted, it takes time and effort, but success is so sweet when the the problem is solved... to your satisfaction. Guardian, wasn't always a division of Sunrise Med. They acquired the company several years ago. Send the customer service department several pictures of your chair and parts that you need. This way, words won't get too complicated, in resolving your parts problem. Best Wishes W
Re: [QUAD-L] quad OT
I once knew a C-4/5 who is a Physical Therapist for a local company here. He is older and a wonderful motivational inspiration for those he serves. I believe he owned the company called Thera- PutX. At one time, he had the only Aqua Tub in the area. I wonder what happened to him? (I'll have to check on that guy) But you can do it. Education is most important. Only the top 5% of those who apply meet the knowledge skills necessary to attend school to become an OT or PT. Its tough and will bring out the best in you. May you do well in your endeavor. Oh, your preaching to the choir on pre counsel. I agree. But in the referenced example its after the fact. However, if anyone has loads of money to bring a lawyer after the fact so be it. W In a message dated 11/2/05 6:08:48 PM, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: I believe an ounce of prevention prevents a ton of pain. Lawyers can also review documents prior to signing as well as present you with documents for the other party involved to agree to. I've used legal pre-counsel many times to make certain I've done my CYA. In this case I would definitely get legal advice. This means you simply call, explain the situation, and any decent legal firm will tell YOU what to do next to ensure you are taken care of. Typically they will say If does _, then call me. If they don't tell you the point at which you need a lawyer involved more closely, then ask.

Hi, I have a guardian shower chair with the 24 inch wheels and is stainless steel. I believe the problem with your chair is the bearings are bad where the forkstem inserts into the chair frame. I had the same problem, rust was actually running down the sides of the fork. My dad replaced the bearings but was no easy task. The only way you could get this fixed would be possibly calling adaptability, they have days where they fix chairs at no cost. Other than that option you could take pictures anddescribe to your wheelchair vendor you have bad bearings where the casterforks insert into chair frame. I also have a invacare shower chair with24 inch rear wheels that has had little use. Ill sell that to you for $125.00 if you want it. It was over 1000.00 new. Ron c7

[QUAD-L] poopin'
Silas, I used to do my bowel program everyday for more than a year when I first got out of rehab. I switched to every other day and it seemed to calm things down. I think all the stimulation of an everyday program was just to much for my body. Hello to All, I see a lot of people having troubles with being a Quad or a Para here on the Quad-List and thought I would try to cheer some of them up or atleast have them Grin from ear to ear. I've been having troubles with a "Spastic Colon" that keeps me going when I shouldn't. Those that know what I am typing about know how that is and for those that doesn't, well I go Crap even after I have my Bowel Program in the morning between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m. every day. I'd be sitting in the ole chair then, I'd be smelling something dead. Well back to bed with dirty pants and cushion. Do any people on this here List have that kinda of trouble and if you do? could you write me back in hopes I could get some help on this matter?
