1982 Trek 728 (touring model - the lng chainstay / centerpull-equipped year). 710, if I am not mistaken would be a more conventional, albeit very nice road model. Boscos are BIG. But, RBW now has a little bit smaller baby Bosco version. You can't go too wrong with Bosco / Alba / or North Road.

Do you recall the cost of the steel Surly ring? When you compare the cost of plain flat aluminum to comparable rings with ramps'n'pins there seems to be quite a premium for the extra goodies. Perhaps helpful with STI or similar but with friction the basic version works fine for 10-12 tooth
