I think you're considering the right bike for your application, but I have to say that I don't own a Clem, but a Joe Appaloosa (my first Riv and I LOVE it), as that one fit my needs better. However, if needed a bike for what you describe, I would have bought a Clem L. If you're thinking Clem

Tully, If you can make it down to Portland, you can visit Rivelo. John frequently has a good stock of Clems, and is even hosting an event with Grant this Saturday afternoon (10/28). Another thought, you could almost certainly get away with the larger frame if you go with the "L"
