I've had a couple pairs of the Gen. 1 Barlow Passes. I like them, but not that much more than the Jack Brown Greens they replaced. I do admit they have a nice silky ride. The main downside over the JBGs in my experience was that the Compasses were harder to mount perfectly round with no lumps.

Done right, I think the patch and the tube chemically become a single material -- I think the correct term may be "vulcanize." So it should be permanent. Now, if done in a rush, I've had the patch come off, but that's totally due to user error. I typically patch a tube 3x or 4x before I

I have Berthoud 60mm stainless steel fenders over 50mm Marathon sUpremes on my Atlantis.I'm comfortable with the clearance, though others whose judgment I respect on this list think it's a little skinny. But over 42mm tires they'd be perfect. They are available from Peter White Cycles.
