I had floated the idea of a Porcupine/Sherwood Forest/Pine Mtn Truck
Road/Bolinas Ridge loop for Saturday, but perhaps that is a bit much,

Yes, the 27f has a threaded 'ear' on the right side that accepts a standard
bolt. I used the Nitto mount that Riv sells and used a nylon-insert nut on
the inside to keep things tight. Works great.

I neglected to mention that because my Sam has a pump peg, I have a
full-size Zefal that lives permanently beneath the top tube. So it makes
some sense to run the wire along that mess. I also have a permanent mass of
bags in front (Wald basket with

sounds like you might be working with coaxial cable, which is thicker 'n'
stiffer than what I am using, and likely better suited to those P
clamps...but I do have some of those clamps somewhere...

Hello Ash - Samuel P Taylor is a great place for kids. The Cross Marin
Trail runs right through it, and is a 3-4 mile stretch of perfect, flat
bike path through the redwoods. It runs right along Lagunitas Creek the
whole way, with many opportunities for playing in the creek and checking
stuff
North American Handmade Bike Show (NAHBS) is back in Sac this year (yay!).
March 15 - 17.
Anybody else plan on going? Went last time it was in town, and it was a lot
of fun. I plan to ride from home (Rocklin) probably for the Saturday
session, if any other Sac-area folks want to meet up.

I'm still up for rear-leading the Pine Mountain-BoFax ride...looks like it
is about 33 miles, probably just about 50/50 dirt to pavement...lotsa
climbing, but only significant one (I think) is pavement after Alpine Dam.
The Cottonwood Canyon - Marble Canyon loop seems an obvious candidate...2-3
nights with water sources. Access is via the road out past the air strip
from Stovepipe Wells. That road might be a bit dicey in a rental...there is
some soft sand for a few miles, and some washboard...but I've seen all

The one along the Cross Marin Trail, before the bridge, seems large and

hiker-biker, or reserve sites? Very limited tent space in hiker-biker. Some
good large sites with usable space down by the creek, but the upper sites have
lots of slope and very little usable ground space. Group site
Mark’s post rings true just now, regarding the random happenings associated
with riding a bike. Recent happenings include inadvertently joining a Christmas
parade, being bitten by a dog, and watching a team of college students operate
a huge catapult to launch pumpkins and other projectiles.
My evergreen goal is to ride every day. When I do that, everything else falls
into place.

No idea if 26.0 is going away, but depending on what you want, 31.8 may
have way better options. I wanted Salsa bars, so had to go with new 31.8

Country Riv folks...route not yet released, but 50-ish miles, at least 20
on dirt, including infamous Yankee Jim's Road into and out of the NF
American River canyon. Very pretty out there in winter!

I'm contemplating adding a small frame bag (top tube bag) to my 55 cm Sam.
The idea would be to generally replace my Acorn transverse seat bag for
standard rides, and to offer more capacity for bike camping and overnights.

Japan for a Nitto Campee 27f, after seeing that setup last weekend on
Jackbro's Hunq. Then I can run a multitude of Acorn/Wald/Swift options for
camping and daily living. Choices...
