I am fighting the concept of a rack on my San Marcos as well. Mine is built
up like such a hot-rod exercise bike with the Vento Reaction Wheels and 10
speed Campy Flatbar stuff that Feel a rack just make it like everything
else I ride. And then I want to stop at the store on the way back home
Evening all, Myself and a couple friends are going to go on a mini tour
starting Sunday through Wednesday. We will be leaving San Francisco Sunday
morning and heading to Marin for a couple of nights at SPT and Pt Reyes and
possibly some stealth camping.

It's amazing to me how a label, influences how I feel about a given
product. I personally prefer no labels on a bicycle if given a choice.
When I had my Bombadil repainted, I had it done without labels. I know the
origin of the frame, the frame knows the origin of the frame, and Rivendell
I hear ya. Since no bike frames are actually fabricated at Walnut Creek,
you could think of your bike as a Panasonic, or a Toyo, or a Waterford, or
a Maxway, or a Curt, or a Joe or a Mark, etc. They all share a designer and

Very true, Ron. My original plan was to just tape the bars above the cork
grips, but when I saw the chunks coming out I figured taping them too was
the way to go. An added benefit for my large monkey hands is the wider
circumference. I may add another layer at some point just for that purpose.

I like EFS - lots of electrolytes, mild flavors, not overly sweet tasting.
For more calories I mix it with Carbo-Pro. Skratch is pretty good as
well. Endurolytes if necessary. Antacids in a pinch. I don't restrict
calories; need them all on long brevets :-)

Chiming in on your exchange with Steve regarding using Honjos and Hetres on
a Hilsen (the Triple H).
In my opinion, the critical thing that Steve's Saluki had that your bike
does not have is cantilever brakes. The place where you will have the
biggest clearance problem is through

To add more clearance out front, I used a long spacer (about 1 1/2 inch?)
and longer bolt, and it clears the basket. Easy, cheap solution, and I
prefer to use the front mount of the Nitto rack, above the wheel.

A bit before the Bombadil was released.I remember around the time it was announced that the largest sizes were being discontinued, representatives of Rivendell were stating that the people who would have been served by such an Atlantis size could be almost equally well served by the new Bombadil
