Hi Allen,
The absorption time is actually only 1 hour for the C-series controllers.
Battery manufacturers are always the final authority on
how their batteries should be charged. If they say you can charge at
14.2-14.4V indefinitely, then increase the float setting.
Eric
do know it
usually results in the need to replace the batteries.

to be absorbing the charge happens
more often with sealed batteries. Maybe it is related to the degree of
sulfation.

Hi Lee,
The MC version is similar to the standard SW, but does not have grid usage
menu (no sell/lbx), and does not give AC1 priority (assuming both inputs
are present). It will support the generator with battery power whenever
the load exceeds the AC2 Amps setting in Menu 11.

Hi Will,
Flooded (or wet cell batteries) are typically much more forgiving than a
sealed battery. Check S.G. (≈1.265 at rest) and load test.
Equalize if necessary (if .05 difference in S.G. cell-to-cell).
Eric

guess it boils down to what the customer wants. You can always sell the
Trace inverter to someone off grid and use the proceeds toward a new
grid-tie inverter.

battery types,
it should allow the module to operate very close to Vmp.
Typically, MPPT controllers require a higher Vmp than the target charge
voltage.

listing make a difference in your markets?Small scale off-grid systems
are often (usually?) not inspected, so maybe listing is not a
requirement... I'd love any advice or feedback you guys might have.
Thanks.

and haul them up, or secure them on a sloped roof before installation.
How many installers would be interested in something like that??
How much would you be willing to pay for it?
