I found some 900 Mhz leftovers, antenna, filters, etc, and have the
bug to put together a 900 Mhz ham repeater.
Anyone else out there have some tips?
Are MAXTRAC900's still plentiful and cheap? or else what are folks
using for subscriber units?
What are ya'll building the repeaters out of?
RG-9 has been replaced with RG-214.
Not sure what RG-55 was replaced with.
RG-214 is double shielded silver plated copper with a silverplated copper
center conductor and has an impedance of 52 Ohms IIRC.

MAKE SURE! It has the /U on the RG-214/u
back in the 70tys they made a pile of sub-standard RG-214 no U for the DBS
Satellite dishes. It was used between the LNA/LNB and the receiver on the
back of the dish. It is not the same and in fact is very poor. So watch out
when you buy and make darn sure
Hello Steve and the group,
We at Metro-Comm, INC have three 900 MHz repeaters on the air. We use the
following at each site.
Kenwood TKR-901 repeaters.
Crescent Amp's 120 watt
Link-Comm RLC-3 controller's
ARR pre-amp's
1 and 5/8's Hard-line.
TX/RX duplexer's, Isolators and antennas.

Steve, I'm just now completing a 900 repeater project that has been in
the works for over a year. We're a team of four friends that pooled
money and resources together to build this machine. We also have a
440 in the works, as well as a second 900 machine which will be linked
to the first
Roger, The 4041 H2 is a two cavity combination of the DB 4041H

Hello Steve;
There is a pretty large group of builders assembled in one place,
and hopefully the list owner here will not mind the link post as O.T., but
the group is 900 centric and focused with some 700 list members... it is
here at yahoogroups and it is called AR902MHZ. It is

I still have a lot of RG-9 around, yes I would
consider it an earlier version of RG-214.
All my commercial RG-9 is gray in colour, dual
shield but unlike 214, at least one shield
is original unplated copper braid. Nothing wrong
with that when the cable is kept from damage
and moisture

Hello All,
Has any one used the Decibel
Products model DB-228?
I was thinkingof replacing
my DB-224 on two meters
in Ocean City NJ with one.
I got a flyer two day in the mail
and it shows 9 DBd omni or 12 DBd

From memory, the mobile and base radios use the
same boards except in community repeater stations.
Very, very true.

Okay, It has separate inputs for COS and PL logic.
The switch I was referring to is the PL Disable on the Motorola Card.
That switch likely does nothing in your case. Since I converted your
station

Hi Russ,
Thanks Kevin for the information. You ran the CTCSS Line out for me, active
high, so all I have to do is install the reed and board in the Micor and
hook the line to the controller. As always, thanks to you and the group.

is the construction of this antenna? Exposed dipole it sounds like.
Guess I had better look at the DB site!

Hi Russ:
I have been using a DB-228 for over three years on
147.72/147.81.
I agree with everyones comments, i.e. it is a very formidable
antenna.
It is worth the extra money and you will be
satisfied.
The DB-228 is actually two DB 224 with an additional phasing
harness. Therefore

480 feet for the VHF master recieve, handheld coverage to 32 miles! Had
my 2 meter recieve on it until the end, unbelieveable! Just above that

Hello All,
The DB-228 is aluminum. Open dipole
8 of them going up the mast. They are
a monster of an antenna. It is about 41'
tall at 147 MHz. It is made to go up a tower
leg. Like I said a real monster but lot-O-gain.
Yes they are 9 DBd or 12 DBd on two
meters!
One of the highest gain

Hey Russ its almost like putting 2 of the old Cushcraft 4 dipole
arrays together=8 poles..
I think that was rated at 12 db...4 elements was between 6-9 Db...
I still run the Cushcraft 4 pole on the 440 machine.

I have several fairly new BNC cables labeled RG-55/U made by Fujikura.
I think they came with an Anritsu Site Master.

The encoder comes in two basic types - the difference
includes the number of pins on the edge of the board.
