Does anyone have a detailed parts manual in PDF form that covers the dreaded
FAIL 001 code? All caps are replaced so it's the Synthesizer being out of
lock and I need to fix that.

It IS a RCA TAC 100 that were made in Japan for RCA.
TacTel Systems, some RCA LMR people, acquired the RCA Land Mobile radio Div.

Yes there have been many 900 Spectras over the years that exhibit poor receive
sensitivity. Check the Rx/Tx antenna switch diodes. The receive shunting diode
may be shorted. This is caused by high reflected power.

The R100 programming cable does not use the RIB. The R100 software
requires a very slow
