Job Description

Customer Desktop Support - Uses technical expertise and understanding of 
business needs to evaluate assigned IT incident and problem service desk 
tickets to appropriately prioritize and evaluate business impact.  Proactively 
promotes positive customer relationships and mentors others to ensure client 
satisfaction and organizational success.

Takes ownership of customer problems and works with a sense of urgency to 
resolve incidents and problems.  Communicates status of progress to the 
customer.   Provides updates on work progress to Customer Support Specialists 
and the Service Desk using call tracking system.  Has significant technical 
knowledge and serves as a resource for other technicians to help solve complex 
problems.  Skilled in different types of computer hardware, software, 
peripherals and components, networking protocols and communications.  Installs 
and images new computers and loads appropriate software for customers.  Deploys 
new business applications as needed.  Installs local and network printers and 
other peripherals and configuration of same. Responsible for user data and 
migration of profiles as computers are replaced.   Stays abreast of current 
technology in a changing environment.  Identifies emerging trends and issues, 
researches and makes suggestions for technical solutions to solve current and 
future problems.  Uses extensive knowledge to develop and/or implement 
information technology solutions to enhance organizational success.  Works with 
Data Center Operations with user file server data storage, network 
reservations, data restores, various account creations and modifications (AD, 
email, NCID, CITRIX, etc.).  Works with application development teams to 
identify application issues at the customer level and provide technical detail 
in order for development teams to accurately identify problems within 
applications.  Works with network infrastructure teams to identify network 
issues at the customer level and provide significant technical detail to assist 
in network hardware resolutions.

 

Project Management -

Ability to lead projects that require directing the work of others and with 
some latitude on actions or decisions.

Leads team efforts and assesses and integrates the skills and strengths of 
individuals for project and organizational success.  Provides status on project 
work to management.

 

Develop and maintain appropriate documentation for all responsible areas -

This position is responsible for creating and maintaining all documentation of 
process and procedures for all areas this position is responsible for.  This 
documentation is to be used by team members for operational standards of daily 
work.  This documentation will also be used in accordance with Operational 
Level Agreements (IT internal) and Service Level Agreements (IT external).  All 
documentation should be reviewed annually. 

 

System Security -

It is the responsibility of all Technical Services Staff to be aware of DOT and 
ITS security policies, as well as the security issues directly affecting the 
systems and technology for which this position is directly involved.  This 
position is responsible for implementing requirements of the IT Security Office 
and protecting data from unauthorized access, alteration, destruction, or usage 
in a manner inconsistent with covered IT Security Policies and standards.

 

Skills Needed

Skilled in different types of computer hardware, software, peripherals and

Job Description

Client is seeking an Expert Level Specialist Support Analyst for a 12 month 
engagement to provide second level support with the IT Enterprise Applications 
Team. The support consists of documenting and coordinating activities with 
respect to the installation and configuration of Genetec Security Center and IP 
cameras, SV32 devices, door aggregators and all system components deployed for 
FACS project. 

· Support to the Enterprise Application team, in respect to the 
installation and configuration of Genetec Security Center and IP cameras SV32 
devices, door aggregators and all system components deployed for FACS project.

· Assisting the deployment team with troubleshooting 
installation/configuration issues for the Genetec Security Center and Samsung 
IP cameras.

· Receiving, logging and fully documenting requests for support from 
help desk, other service delivery staff and/or users; investigate problems and 
other requests for support from the deployment/project team and determine 
appropriate actions to be taken.

· Monitoring progress of requests for support through resolution and 
ensure users and other interested parties are kept informed.

· Escalate 3rd party software and hardware issues to Application Owner; 
insuring proper attention is given to the issue depending on severity and 
impact to project schedule.

· Communicating technical information to a variety of internal and 
external stakeholders both verbally and in writing. Technical writing services 
and support for the developing software documentation at the enterprise level. 
Provide services documenting technical configurations for a complex multi-site 
deployment of a Genetec System for Access Control and Video Management.

· Assist in the creation of document(s) which details the information 
architecture, the network ids, the building locations, installation documents, 
configuration documents and all other project documents required for the 
Enterprise Applications team.

· Maintain and update as needed the document(s) which details the 
information architecture, the network ids, the building locations, installation 
documents, configuration documents and all other project documents required for 
the Enterprise Applications team.

· Must have the ability to capture incidents and issues identified by 
the project with the ability to document resolution(s) for the team leader 
providing weekly status reports to Management.

· Proven experience with supporting a video surveillance system; 
experience with Genetec Security Center is preferred.

*Description: *
Assist in the migration of desktop support and knowledge transfer from DHHS
current seat management vendor
Assist in the testing vendor supplied procedures and standards for desktop
support and participate in the revision/development of new documentation as
appropriate for use by DHHS support staff
Provide desktop support to DHHS staff via remote desktop utilities and in
person for Microsoft operating systems in a mixed Netware and Microsoft
environment
Provide support for local/networked printers
Provide support for productivity software (MS Office, Adobe, etc.)
Provide support for e-mail (MS Exchange)
Provide support for Active Directory users
Provide support for PDA users
Create and deploy images, patches and software updates
Provide consulting on cost-effective implementations of microcomputer
hardware and software using defined standards and specifications
Transfer knowledge and transition desktop support activities to state
support staff
Provide status reports to technical lead
Other projects as assigned by management

 *Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements Required*:
Minimum 2 years experience providing support of the following:
1. Desktops and local/networked printers
2. Microsoft operating systems, MS Office and MS Exchange
3. Netware
4. Active Directory

 *Other Required Experience / Skills:*
A+ Certification
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to assist in the development and testing of desktop support
procedures and standards
Excellent customer service skills and phone etiquette
Attention to detail
Ability to perform diagnostics on software and/or hardware
Ability to resolve routine and non-routine problems independently and in
consultation with technical lead, peers and vendors



*Preferred*
Experience using remote control software to provide desktop support
MCP Certification
LANDesk experience
Ghost experience

 Some local and overnight travel may be required
Candidate must have a valid driver license
Tasks require that the candidate be able to kneel, crouch, crawl, reach,
lift and carry at least 60 lbs

Description: This position within the Client Technology Services (CTS) area
of the IT Operations organization provides day-to-day support on Incident
Management processes related to systems and applications support. Provides
support to (as a member of the  Service Desk; aka: Help Desk), IT, and all
Business areas for Incident Management processes, Root Cause Analysis, and
HealthChecks with little supervision. Provides support for day-to-day
systems and applications for IT, Business, Members, Providers, Brokers,
Third Party Administrators, and Partners (RealMED, ACS, Argus, etc).
Resolves non-routine issues and responsible for initiating resolutions as
they arise based on experience and knowledge.



Provides support Monday through Friday: 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Microsoft Office Suite

Client Server Knowledge

Citrix

Mainframe

Voice/Data Network Engineering Support  Data Center Operations



Additional Skills:

 • Familiar with BMC Service Desk Express or other popular incident
management tools.

• Familiar with general web site usage or web portals, e-commerce or
e-business web site support.

• Familiar with ITIL processes and environment.
