Hiya Ken: I posted a suggestion to dilute the 50% KOH further by cutting it with distilled water first. Only a minute amount of Potassium Hydroxide is needed to shift the PH level. The taste only becomes noticeable, from my experience, when your pushing distilled water up to the 9.0+ PH range.
