i really like world machine, and it's definitely worth springing for the
geoglyph plugins... you can make really amazing terrain, it behaves like
ice, and what you get out is as many hi res maps as you can deal with, so no
compatibility issues...

I had to do this quite often before - I always ended up flattening the
resulting mesh with a custom ICE deformer instead of the particles. Also
worked quite well.

anyone able clarify what the earliest version of Royal Render is, that
supports rendering in Soft with Redshift? not clear on the RR website
we're running 6.02.015 and when submitting Redshift scenes, they render in
mental ray! not ideal!!
