Steve, I don't believe you are supposed to use air in a cpvc system. We used
to use some cheap cologne in the steel systems but not in plastic.
How bad is the leak?
Maybe you could put water back on it slowly and find it that way.

the heat collectors installed, would you write it up as a deficiency and why?
Many moons ago they were accepted but later research proved they did not work.

Now that brings back memories. Having to buy 3/8 solid rod and thread it in
the field. Takes a lot more time if you have to recut hangers. Should be
able to buy 3/8 solid rod from steel plant. Fab shops should be able to
provide it.

Gerald, I must be having a senior moment, Does the solenoid cut the system
on or off? I assume on since you said it is activated by the flow switch. So
we have a system with a closed control valve(solenoid) and when a head goes
off how does the flow switch work since no water is in the system??

flow switch, you will need to install an inspectors test. I never seen a FDC
installed on them but have seen 1 1/2 FDC's installed on small residential
systems. Never seen a solenoid operated cut off valve installed, What

It has been a while since I have been on and I think this has been discussed
before but cant find it in the archives so here I go.
Doing a NFPA 25 inspection and find a medical storage room with rolling
files that are within 8 of the sprinklers. Sprinklers spaced 12x12. This
system has 8 rolling
To help me understand, if a sprinkler goes off in building 4 then all 4
systems will show a water flow thus have all 4 alarms?

Todd, The fitter was probably telling you the truth, which is that he was
taught to close both valves. When I started in the field in the late 70's, I
was taught the same thing. This is a good reason to promote the AFSA
apprenticeship program so the fitters coming up now can be taught the
correct
.
