The C-900 pipe is approved and listed for underground use and not above
ground usage. Not suppose to use it to come up thru the floor.

Never looked. Many places don't use NFPA 24 as an adopted code. Nearly all
(that have a code) use some version of NFPA 13. So it's a more reliable
reference for enforcement. I suppose in a standpipe situation the 13
reference wouldn't do much good but never ran into that question.

Hey Christopher is that a mirrored section reference in NFPA 24?

NFPA 13 23.1.6.1.2 The transition piece shall be protected against possible
damage from corrosive agents, solvent attack, or mechanical damage.

It is generally interpreted to mean you can't use C900 or plastic through
the floor. Although I have seen AHJ's approve with a metal sleeve around it
up to the transition to steel.

Subject: Underground Pipe Material

When underground pipe passes under a foundation and stubs up into a
building, does the pipe have to be Ductile Iron? I know that's all I've
ever seen, but can C900 PVC pipe be used?

I've browsed through the International Plumbing Code and didn't find any
discussions about this situation.

Thanks,
