PI three uses less energy than the PI four, but if there should be any
problems again, I think I might buy a PI four.

You should check on the PCP thread but IIRC I think because of 32 bit
legacy (which may change) LMS cannot use more than 2Gb.
2GB is already twice the 1GB of a Pi3 - which is a lot more ;-).
So on a pure LMS/PCP no point to 8Gb or possibly 4Gb.
Would the 2GB limit be per process or overall?
I will observe my existing PI three, and check if it is running stable.

I think there are two issues - Perl pointers (check using perl
-V:ptrsize ) and 64 bit OS kernel address.

Do you know what the above means?
Yes: the wrong Perl is being used. Either wrong version (not Perl 5.18),
or wrong architecture.
What gives:
head -n1
/Library/PreferencePanes/Squeezebox.prefPane/Contents/server/slimserver.pl
And:

I didn't realise I had this plugin installed, I did a clean install
trying to find another problem and didn't reinstall it !

when typing Perl -v I get the respons 5.28. So there might be something
in it that LMS is picking the wrong version for some reason.

The solution is somewhat rude, but what you need to do is delete all
files from the LMS `lib` and `CPAN` folders for which an equally named
file exists in your system's Perl vendor path (for version 5.28 that
would typically be /usr/lib/perl/vendor_perl/5.28).

In the end it was much easier than I thought :-). Weird, I thought I
had tried this previously, but must have gotten something wrong.
Still just using the Container Station GUI - I created a new container
from the image, this time in the "Advanced Settings" section, I added a
new environment
It is currently working after updating to LMS 8.0.0
Thanks also to the replies I noticed that my mysqueezebox.com favourites
are all defined as http and not https URLs. However I am confident that
is not the main issue as the same problem happened when using the TuneIn
app to browse to the same

mode. That would give us some information about what's going on without
modifying the code. Do NOT set the log level to DEBUG, as this could
create a huge scanner.log!
