Bingo.

That sorted it. The purge left the prefs folder and perl but it worked
without me ditching them.

-However-, it indicated that there was a new version of LMS available
and I installed this (logitechmediaserver_7.9.2~1567938514_arm.deb).
Then the webGUI failed again. So I have reversed that install and gone
back to 7.9.2 - 1567524015. Oddly this time it didn't offer me a new
version of LMS.

It now works.

Thanks very much for your help. It is bizarre how much I missed it.

Try deleting the LMS and also purge everything. Try
Code:

sudo apt-get remove --purge logitechmediaserver

or something like that to remove all the config files.

I would not do this! I think it is probably related to the LMS. In the
meantime I advise you to set up a Raspberry Pi with just LMS so you can
listen to the music without having to install the OMV again!

It seems unrealistic to have no logs for 3 days when I have a cronjob
that runs every morning to scan everything plus there is no record of me
deleting/upgrading/downgrading LMS perhaps 7 or 8 times this morning.

I have restarted/stopped/started LMS umpteen times today. No record of
this.

I have tried five different browsers and they all fail to see anything
at 192.168.1.180:9000 so I can't think that it is a cache issue. Yes,
none of my three SBs can see LMS, and nor can my two Android apps.

I'd like to avoid it but I may have to scrub the server and reinstall
the O/S to see if this fixes it. I would like to avoid this.

As you can see last entry is from three days ago. Maybe you should try
Code:

sudo systemctl restart logitechmediaserver

. On the other hand maybe no entry does mean everything works fine. In
that case you could try to clear your browser's cache, maybe. Your
physical squeezeboxes are also not able to connect?

On the logfiles, I haven't checked them as I don't know how to find them

Thanks for the reply.

The server doesn't update by itself. The updates were just my attempt
to fix the problem thinking that perhaps something had changed.

When I went away three weeks ago, all was well. When I started my PC at
home last night there was no webGUI.

The server is a baby chip on a card like a fat Pi, a Rock64. I run a
derivative of Debian on it, armhf. I don't run a firewall that I know
of. My LMS updates are always the ...arm.deb ones that land in my
var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/updates folder.

The only thing that changed in the three weeks was that I had an
extended holiday. I don't think my server has the capability of
upgrading its own O/S. If it were a network issue I would not expect to
see the server on 192.168.1.180.

It is all very strange and frustrating.

Does your LMS update on its own? I don't think mine does. So what would
have changed during the last three weeks? Do you run a firewall on your
server? What kind of server is it?

I have just returned from three weeks away and have returned to a
similar problem. I can see my server on ServerName and on
192.168.1.180, but I can't see LMS on ServerName:9000/ nor on
http://192.168.1.180:9000/.

To fix it I tried updating to the 8th Sept nightly download
of"...arm.deb". No change. I reverted to the 4th Sept version. No
change. I went to the 2nd Sept version. No change. I uninstalled LMS
and then loaded the 4th Sept version. No change.

In all cases LMS was running. I could stop it and start it in PuTTY.
Status is "active".

I tried BPA's "netstat -t -l" and "lsof -i" and cannot see "9000"
anywhere in the listings.

Could anyone identify what may be happening, please?

The problem is real and the 24Jan2019 fix from mw9 to Slim/Format/XML.pm

Perhaps you could PM mrw (I think he is the same as mw9 on github) if

Triode's original google code squeezelite repository is no longer
available.
If you can find the url in the build scripts you can update it to use
Code:

https://github.com/ralph-irving/triode-squeezelite

However there has been no activity since 2015. I just cloned it to
github so it wouldn't be lost.

All new development is on github in a repository that I currently
maintain, however, it may not build using the soa scripts.
Code:

https://github.com/ralph-irving/squeezelite

Looking at podcast source and LMS code. LMS will include itunes:image
episode image if there is a xmlns:itunes in podcast feed. The podcast
doesn't have xmlns:itunes - so I wonder whether the podcast format has
been changed and so broke this functionality.

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS on Wandboard with ReadyNAS and Squeezebox Touch

2019-09-09 Thread Lestrad

Well, the ReadyNAS NV+ has been pronounced dead, and I've managed to
copy all the files from it to a single 6-Gb hard drive, which is
connected to the Wandboard. LMS ran on the Wandboard until a recent
power outage, but after that the Wandboard would no longer boot. I
reinstalled ArchLinux on the SD card and now the Wandboard will boot,
but I cannot manage to reinstall SoA. Installation stops at the
following point:

Code:

Cleaning up...
  ==> Making package: squeezelite r146.3946139-1 (Mon Sep  9 08:48:19 2019)
  ==> Checking runtime dependencies...
  ==> Checking buildtime dependencies...
  ==> Retrieving sources...
  -> Cloning squeezelite git repo...
  Cloning into bare repository '/home/aur/soa-aur/squeezelite/squeezelite'...
fatal: unable to update url base from redirection:
  asked for:
https://code.google.com/p/squeezelite/info/refs?service=git-upload-pack
  redirect: https://code.google.com/archive/p/squeezelite
==> ERROR: Failure while downloading squeezelite git repo
  Aborting...

I'm not sure where to go from here. I see 'elsewhere on the forum'
that people have got SoA working using a Debian Jessie distro, but that
discussion dates from a couple of years ago and I don't know if that
approach is still working. If anyone can confirm that it is, or point me
to another way of installing LMS on a Wandboard, I'd be much obliged.

Cheers to all
Les

It looks like this commit didn't work properly or has been
"undone"/redendered ineffectual by a later change.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Question / Problem regarding Picture of Radio Station / Podcast

2019-09-09 Thread slimhase

Hi Michael;
I have the following 'problem':
When I look at i.e. a podcast list, each podcast has its own unique icon
/ image.
But when I select one podcast from the list and go to the now playing
screen (i.e. material skin, but also std skin), it briefly shows the
unique image, but flips back to the std. Podcast image after 1 second or
so.
You can try to see what I mean by including i.e. this Podcast into your
podcast list and looking at the list (with the unique icons) and then
select and play one (and then only see the std icon of that podcast):
https://podcast.wdr.de/radio/hoerspiel.xml

Maybe related:
When I select i.e. Deutschlandfunk Kultur 101.3 (Kultur) from the Radio
List, I also get only the std. icon of that station, whereas I am pretty
sure that in earlier builds of LMS, the icon updated to the currently
playing song releated image (I still get the song info, just not the
corresponding image)

As stated, I am pretty sure that this behavior changed during evolvement
of LMS. (Sorry that I can not pinpoint the build when that happened)

-> Is there a way to get the 'unique images' back?

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS on Raspberry Pi4

2019-09-09 Thread bencat

I use Max2play software for my LMS on Raspberry Pi and have used this
for about five years upgrading the Pi as a new quicker version came out.
I have been using the Pi 4 4GB since it came out and the Max2play beta
download was available. I only use this Pi as a pure LMS server with a 2
TB USB HD attached with my library . I also purchased a Flirc case and
this has reduced the operating temperature to around 42/43 deg which i
feel is fine.

Pi 4 is smoother , faster and in my view more stable that the Pi3 + . A
full scan does take around three minutes overall quicker than before but
once this has done then upgrades to the LMS version , searches and
instructions for next track etc are much quicker and smoother. I feel
the Rpi 4 is a huge upgrade and offers response and feel that is in line
with many expensive purpose built (and expensive) streamers / network
players. I would reccomend an upgrade to Rpi 4 .

I am sure there are people out there who can use the added RAM to give
other advantages but as this is beyond my talents I will wait and then
keep an eye on developments.

Theta Data Basic II Transport , Perpetual Technology P-1a,P-3a,Anti Mode
