Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] How to list all Albums and Artists in LMS library
In the back of my mind I have a feeling that dropping an artist.jpg into a regular Artist folder works in the same way as bio.html in the same folder but I’m not certain. That's correct: the lookup would check an album's folder and walk up the folder hierarchy to check for artist pictures. ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Is it time to get rid of the Video & Photos scanner?
(oh, and I'd have to replace the top left logo in the web UI - don't ask me to do that!) idle curiosity, would that be difficult? I don't have the necessary fonts to start with. And I'm not an image editor... but first of all it's the kind of work which is a waste of time in most cases. Who cares, really? The web UI would require a major overhaul, not a new logo top left :-). ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Feature Request on Favorite Albums
The concept of treating albums in Favorties works very well for me. But I do have two requests for change. 1) Allow to store two different albums with same name. 2) Show additional Album Artist beside Album Name. Is this possible? Do others support the need for these requests? It's not possible at this point. The concept to store favorite albums and artists is a bit too simplistic: as there's not always a unique identifier the favorite relies on the titles (albums) and names (artists). Eg. the URI for an album here is "db:album.title=The%20Aristocrats". LMS would do a search by title to find the album. It would require quite some work to make this smarter. ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] QLogitechMediaServer for Qnap with QTS 4.2 or higher and x86_64/I686/X86 support !
Hello all, I am a QLMS user. For the past month ever since I have updated to version 2.25 the software doesn't work. I tried returning to the previous version but it didn't change anything and it still doesn't work. I have also tried using the newest version 2.25.01 to no avail. I don't seem to be able to solve this on my own. My tech skills are not at this level. I'm looking for someone who can solve this for me remotely. I am willing to pay for the service. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] How to list all Albums and Artists in LMS library
@johnd What the above means is you just need to find an image for The Family - name it artist.jpg and put it in your Artist folder for The Family and do a rescan and it should be picked up. This is a one off correction measure and you should not need to set a folder inside the settings for MAI which would download everything. This assumes that 1) you use the normal Artist/Album folder structure 2) your The Family tracks are local and not from an Online source Good luck. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Feature Request on Favorite Albums
Why not just use Genre? Let's take Led Zepplin I as an example and tag Genre as "Rock;Favorite". With this approach you can then go to Genre in My Music, select Genre = Favorite and list however you want, Albums, Album Artist, etc. This way you don't have to have a favorites folder and Led Zepplin I can live under Led Zepplin with the rest of their albums. A poll associated with this post was created, to vote and see the results, please visit http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116014 Question: Can we remove Video/Photo scanner support? - Yes, I never use this feature. - NO! I use LMS to stream videos and photos to my TV and/or other streaming clients. - What's the media scanner? Should I try it? - I don't care. I have never used LMS for video because I did not know it had the capability. Perhaps this is an information problem? A few questions/issues to consider: 1. What advantage does LMS have for pictures and video that cannot be obtained via other options? For example, one advantage LMS has over other music server options is its ability to manage very large music collections as well as integrate music from some streaming services. (Or has Sonos increased its ability for large music collections?) 2. Would improving LMS's handling of non-music media get more people to use LMS? My guess is probably no. How many people converted their DVD libraries onto hard drives? The introduction of streaming services occurred early enough before the cost and size of hard drives dropped to be very cheap. 3. Would dropping non-music media support free up time for Michael and others to focus on more important improvements to LMS? To answer the question, if support for non-music media was dropped, I would not miss it. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Good Buffering!
It's surprisingly tricky to explain clearly! Let's say I'm listening to a 45min R3 live music stream, and that stream is due to end at 7.30 BBC time, with a switch to the continuity chap introducing the next concert. Now, for whatever reason, there *is* some delay in the system, at one end or another - typically that concert will for me be running a minute or two late (depending on how long I've been continuously listening to R3 during the day). So, for me, the music will end at, say, 7.32 my time and move onto to next program. BUT, at exactly 7.30 BBC time, my stream stops for a tiny amount of time, before recommencing (with no *program* gap at all) and running until 7.32. It's hardly the end of the world, but because it sometimes spoils the final climax, or quiet resolution, or judders the denoument of a play, it's really quite annoying. I should add that I have a sense that this has started happening quite recently - last few months - as the rest of the family have started commenting on it, and noticing that it happens on the hour or half or quarter hour "real" time, rather than my local program time LMS 8.2.1 - 1639114554 Win11 Control: Web GUI; MaterialSkin on Android phones / pads Machines / devices are in France, in two locations. a) Livebox 4 Internal HDD (FLAC music; mp3 voice), LAN Desktop 3 x Touch - 1 wireless, 2 LAN. me. Do we also have to rename LMS to Logitech Music Server then? :-) Hahah... I was actually wondering about this when I went out for lunch. It's the kind of work I prefer not to do, because it doesn't add anything. And for the vast majority of users LMS always has been about music only, and they never complained about the "Media" in the name. So I'd think that the acronym wouldn't change anyway. So why even touch the name? :-) (oh, and I'd have to replace the top left logo in the web UI - don't ask me to do that!) ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

There were all sorts of suggestions, and we settled on the adopted name (formal name) being simply LMS. So, to the best of my knowledge, LMS stands for LMS. So, 'M' can be inferred to be media or music. Do you mean a very slight pause or glitch at the end of a programme? At the point the BBC Sounds plugin ends the current programme and starts the new one? Then yes, there is, I'm aware of that. The way the BBC Sounds Plugin works is that it makes each individual programme a "track" in lms. This is so you can pause/rewind around the current live programme. The very slight glitch you hear is LMS ending the current track and starting a new one. There maybe something I can do about it, and make the transition absolutely inaudible. Also I probably don't have the timing quite right and the track switching may be happening too early. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Good Buffering!
Hope I can describe this well enough - and I don't see anything specifically about it in the github page So, I usually listen to the Beeb live rather then on demand. And I listen to a lot of the longer programs - plays on R4 and R4x, and music on R3. What I'm finding is that, at the real-time end of a stream (often on the hour or half-hour) I'm getting a slight pause / stutter in what I'm listening to, that then takes up at the same spot half a second or so later. I'm guessing that there's some kind of conflcit between the DASH stream's interaction with LMS (or a player) and the old-fashioned LMS world buffer? That Sounds is "marking" the real time program/stream change, but that the buffer "says", OK, but let me just finish the last stream for where I thought I was.. If that makes sense! Anyway, it's rather annoying! Especially for classical music, it means that there's a little interruption in the the last bar of the piece being performed, often rather spoiling the whole thing! Is there some kind of fix for this in my assorted settings? I supspect that, in the past, I've lengthened buffer times, a "fix" which is not longer needed for Sounds and its DASH stream. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Is it time to get rid of the Video & Photos scanner?
I'd say remove it but put a peg in the ground for the "last" release that includes it for those that do use it. I'm not going to tag a nightly. If I remove it from 8.3, then that peg will be the last 8.2.x. ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Feature Request on Favorite Albums
The concept of treating albums in Favorties works very well for me. But I do have two requests for change. 1) Allow to store two different albums with same name. 2) Show additional Album Artist beside Album Name. Is this possible? Do others support the need for these requests? Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Is it time to get rid of the Video & Photos scanner?
Only use it for music. Does removing the video scanner help make LMS a more lean mean machine or does it just free up resources to focus on core mission of music? Removing that feature won't have much of an impact on most installations. It's already pretty much inactive unless you use the UPnP plugin and enable media scanning for some folder. But it would save me some hassle trying to build the necessary module with all its dependencies for new platforms. ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
