Ok, that makes the difference: with the firewall up I'd be able to run
LMS once from my dev folder, then would have to reboot the machine. With
firewall off, no such issue.
Now even more interesting: if I first add the shipped version to the
firewall allow list, then start, I'm

Nope.

I haven't seen this, and I tried to reproduce it:
Hmm... do you have the Mac's firewall enabled?

OK sure, I will try.

Only the issue mentioned above, when I tried to abort the scan, I could
not, and at that point, I could not stop LMS via the control panel, so I
whacked it with kill -9.

AFAIK there is no fixed limit, but as coverart is resized to match the
player's capabilities and I run LMS on a small CPU I make a habit of
reviewing the music files and resize the art to match the maximum
display size which is 300x300 for the image included in the music file

No issue found so far.
Have you never faced failure to restart LMS once you've stopped it? I'm
seeing it complain about "another version running", though there's no
process using LMS' ports. I've seen this happen with the custum built
perl as soon as I tried to use it outside its target

Must be:D
I have a windows background (Was a system engineer in a datacenter for
many years) So i started on a VM. Because ices2 on the PI did not seem
work

Polling is not the best way to do especially short polling - as I said

That's was because I wanted the
Correction to the above, I overlooked the following two lines in the
log, which seem to be associated with displaying the 147 MB png file:

Done, but no luck. I found a 7360x3682 png file, 147 MB, which should
qualify as insanely large. LMS loaded it, slowly, and displayed it
without any obvious distress. Nothing

The OP was given another Linux based solution for metadata - I thought
they had gone with that.
I think "ncat" has closing

BubbleUPNP sees the frontier radio but gives this notification:

I'll stick with the touch.

Why runs every 5 seconds ?
No audio track will change every 5 secs !!
It's the evil nature of polling: it's always too fast, or too slow :-).

When i killed that script (running every 5 seconds), both messages seem
to have disappeared. I will try to get in touch with him to ask about
this error.
I tried to reproduce the script's commands, and they IMHO look good. But
I personally believe it's way too convoluted for the task. But I

Thanks. But to single out the problem I started running only one client
This got me wondering - what is the biggest cover art file size that LMS
can deal with, and does it depend on the specs of the computer it's
I don't know. But I thought we had some kind of protection from this
kind off issue built in. Would you have a log file where we'd get mor
information

error from Image::Scale:
In order to understand whether this is an issue with this new build,
would you mind installing a regular build from

To do it from the LMS end I think you will need to UPnP Bridge plugin
