[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS on Apple M1 or M2?
I can't find it anywhere doing a search, but am wondering if LMS is happy on an M1 yet? I'm having issues with my 10-year old Mac MINI i7 and am considering the upgrade. Thanks... You wouldn't want volume controlling the digital out... at least it should ALWAYS be at full volume. As you change the volume digitally it's actually truncating bits, so if you're playing 24bit files, as you turn down the quality gets worse and worse. Keep it at FULL VOLUME and ONLY turn the volume down on your D/A converter AFTER it converts back to analogue. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Server has lost ALL of my music!!
Michael, for some reason my permissions have totally been jacked up and I don't know how. File Sharing is having major problems and, as I've mentioned previously, System Prefs seems to hang all the time. Fortunately I have a TimeMachine backup I'm restoring from Nov 1 when I KNOW everything was working. As soon as that's done I'll try updating LMS to get 8.3.1 and report back. Not network drives... I have almost 50TB of storage all attached via USB3. The drives always spin up before the server does. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Scan taking hours instead of minutes on recent nightlies
Michael, I'm wondering if something changed in 7.9.3 as well? After all the issues I went through with Catalina on Mac MINI, I reverted back to High Sierra from a TimeMachine backup, but installed 7.9.3 and did a complete rescan. NO iTUNES, just my audio drives. There's a little over 40,000 songs and it took almost 2.5 hours to complete the scan. When I've done it before, a new rescan would take 5-10 minutes at the most. I most likely had a 'nightly' in the TimeMachine restore but wouldn't know which one. TimeMachine date was Sept 9, and I'm usually pretty good about keeping up with the nightlies if that gives you an idea. Thanks again for all of the help. Nope! Starting over with a TimeMachine restore from beginning of September. Once that's done I'll load LMS 7.9.3 and leave it there. Using Retrospect I decided to do a fresh backup/confirmation which took about 36-hours to complete. When the Mac boots you can hold down Command-R to restore the OS via the web from Apple. Since nothing is on DVD/CD any longer, this is how you do a clean install. Before running the installer, I ran DiskUtility and reinitialized the OS partition of my SSD. It was wiped clean then OS 10.12 was installed. Once that was done, I did a system update to OS 10.12.6, the most recent. > > > have received errors of two LMS running, which is impossible as only > one > > It can be the same copy run twice. I've had this problem for several years, starting proll with LMS 7.5 or earlier. Again, I did a totally clean OS install and a clean LMS install, adding back some 3rd party plugins. Here's my latest logfile after going through everything else. 23424 Thanks again for the help. This is just so bizarre... and it seems LAME still isn't encoding properly. This is total BS!! I have NEVER had problems like this before... clean installing OS and LMS and none of my SqueezeNetwork setting are saved. Have 'cleaned' all files on the server and started over multiple times... am thinking I may try a recent nightly to see if the OS upgrade was implemented later than LMS 7.9.0. Any other thoughts? Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS no longer converting 24-bit files to MP3
OK guys, I TOTALLY rebuilt my system from scratch, and now I'm having a problem where upon rebooting the system my SqueezeNetwork settings are lost or changed, lots of errors in the log (prolly from SqueezeNetwork not logging in) and a bunch of other stuff. I decided to clean install the 'official' LMS 7.9, but it's totally disastrous. I am running Mac OS 10.12.6, could that be a problem? Going through another "delete prefs" option and will send logs once it reboots. I will do a permissions repair, first. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS no longer converting 24-bit files to MP3
I'll look again. I don't think the problem is resampling as I've always been able to play 48k files on other devices. Again the odd thing is that iPeng on my iPhone plays everything fine. I did also try a xilix update on the Transporter and nothing changed. This is extremely odd as it has worked. There's really no reason to do transcoding with the exception of streaming to an SB3 at my office. I have plenty of bandwidth on both ends to play native FLAC files and may just have to leave it there. Thanks for the replies. As I get more time this week/weekend I'll try it again and submit more content from the log. One other thing I just thought of, I did an OS update about a week ago to OS 10.12.6 which could've broken some pipes. Not sure how I could revert except to restore from an older backup set. May try that as well. Thanks again. To the OP, if you need to convert to FLAC on your Mac, there's a FREE transcoder called XLD https://sourceforge.net/projects/xld/. dBpoweramp is also avail for the Mac now and it's AWESOME!!!
