Thanks for your response. Of course I tried the raw install without plugins or conf file changes before raising this issue. Also, I am running Windows 10 and not Linux (I use Daphile for my Linux music player) so ,maybe the issue is not so obvious. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Logitech Media Server 7.9.0 is out!
so the date modified on the artists folder checked out but I noticed a problem with the cover art (BLISS reported the coverart image was over 4mb for both albums) This shouldn't have effected new music i guess but as a result of fixing the cover art the date modified changed to just now and a rescan has popped both albums into new music I don't often add mp3 files, i guess the date modified of each individual track must have been an older date as it wasn't a CD rip. Don't get me started on artists not offering lossless downloads... But a quick question: do you know why the Linux platform build is requiring libgd ? I can't see any obvious dependency. I have built with it and without it, with no discernible effect - the built modules are identical. So I'm wondering if my build is right, but I can't see which package requires it. It's worth the try for me, I can certainly get them compiled, please provide instructions/dependencies and I'll give it a shot over the weekend. As you're on a Mac... I did a quick test with the latest Image::Scale, and it did indeed no longer hang the scan. Alas, in the AC/DC case it would simply return no image at all. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Logitech Media Server 7.9.0 is out!
I finally got around to testing your files. Unfortunately I can only confirm the issue, but haven't figured out what exactly the problem is with your files. I guess it's a problem in Audio::Scan, as it's returning a very low number for the size of the artwork (8kB) which seems too small for the 600x600 artwork found in the file. I suggest you submit a bug report on github (https://github.com/andygrundman/Audio-Scan), providing access to one of those files. -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Would it be possible to get these Perl 5.24/Armel binaries into the Arm Debian package ? If so, what would be required to achieve this ? Anything is possible. But whenever this question comes up (and it comes up every few weeks for new platforms/Perl/hardware) I'm expressing my concern, that I don't want to add all possible variations. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Logitech Media Server 7.9.0 is out!
Posting on this thread with additional information as I didn't get a response in the other thread I opened, sorry for duplicating. So this is what I have: Clean upgrade from v 7.8 to 7.9.1 (posted Jan 30th in the nightly builds), OS X High Sierra, latest Mac Mini model. Most files in my lib are .flac with some mp3 and aac. Ripped from DVD or CD files have a cover.jpg file in the same dir, files I've bought have embedded artwork. This is what I know: after several trials I've found that pre-caching gets stuck on a consistent base in the same files. I don't believe the artwork per se is corrupt as it was parsed without problem in v 7.8 and I can either open the file just fine in my tagging program (for embedded jpeg artwork) or in preview (for cover.jpg files). Server.log doesn't seem to show anything suspicious and below are the lines from scanner.log that show up right before the problem appears. This is what I've tried: a Google search shows that this error has happened in other projects (mostly linux ones, incidentally Logitech cameras seem to be involved but I don't believe this relates to my problem) and they seem to have something to do with libjpeg so I updated libjpeg to the latest version using Homebrew to no avail. I've also tried a couple of clean installs from same LMS .pkg. Scanner.log error lines (everything above them seem to be ok): Code: [18-02-06 16:23:58.3337] Slim::Music::Artwork::__ANON__ (697) Pre-caching artwork for Discovery from /Users/pingu/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music/Daft Punk/Discovery/01 One More Time.m4a [18-02-06 16:23:58.3344] Audio::Scan::scan (75) Warning: Error: Unable to read at least 16 bytes from file (only read 10). If so, what would be required to achieve this ? The current package does include Perl 5.20/Armel binaries, which is good for Jessie (old stable). But Stretch (current stable) ships with Perl 5.24. I run LMS on an (Armel) Sheeva Plug which runs Debian Jessie at the moment. But I am contemplating an upgrade to Stretch, and will need those binaries. Perhaps there are others in the same boat. mrw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38299 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107110 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Logitech Media Server 7.9.0 is out!
One observation. I also have LMS 7.9 installed on by Win 10 machine with a copy of the library. (Yes - I do run a test on this before committing it to the Home Server.) Most of the time I don't have any players connected, and I notice that the main menu in the web interface has extra options when I start the server - "Random Albums", "Top Tracks", "Flop Tracks" and "Disks and folders". If I connect a player, such as SqueezePlay, and refresh, these four items disappear. This is odd, but not any problem at all, I just mention it in case it is a symptom of something. Yeah, that behaviour can be confusing: those are new menu options provided by the "Additional Browse Modes" plugin. By default most of them are disabled. If you're interested in any of those options, go to Settings/Player/Additional Browse Modes. -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Logitech Media Server 7.9.0 is out!
I wanted to add to a thread I remember of (a user who chooses to shutdown his/her NAS) but I couldn't find it back. Right now I a using Logitech Media Server Version : 7.9.1 - 1491339164 @ Tue Apr 4 21:14:44 UTC 2017 on a Pi 2, connected to a 1st-gen WD green 1TB drive via some no-name USB dock. Of this setup, only the Pi, SD and OS are to be trusted. The adapter and drive are expected to be flaky and I rarely use them. I want to report what I think is iffy/unclear behavior of LMS in this context: it easily "loses" songs (the files are still there, a rescan brings them back), or -less often- becomes totally numb. Obviously the drive and/or adapter are responsible for this. LMS with a decent USB drive or network mount works perfectly. I know this, but LMS didn't made it clear to me at all. In fact it took me a little while to understand what was going on. So I'm not sure there is something that can be done about it, but if a dedicated log channel could show "gone" files perhaps it could help users understand their storage or link isn't up to snuff? Or maybe a paragraph in the README? Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Logitech Media Server 7.9.0 is out!
i was actually trying to install the new one, but got the same error as when i tried to re-install the previous version. but, i called logitech support and they sussed me out. i had to restart the PC a couple of times and then was able to fully uninstall the program (weirdly, after the first reboot, the version 7.5.5 was running in the task bar, but when i went to uninstall via control panel, it said it was version 7.9), and then delete the Squeezebox folder. rebooted, did an install and it worked. nice! narlus's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1825 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107110 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Logitech Media Server 7.9.0 is out!
Perhaps try version 7.9 (http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/index.php?ver=7.9 ), 7.5 is very old Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.1 - 1491339164 @ Wed Apr 5 04:19:41 UTC 2017 Operating system: Debian - EN - utf8Platform Architecture: x86_64-linux Perl Version: 5.22.1 - x86_64-linux-gnu-thread-multi Database Version: DBD::SQLite 1.34_01 (sqlite 3.7.7.1) One SB Touch connected by Ethernet - Denon AVR -1912 Receiver, Paradigm 4.1 speakers Two SB Radios wireless SlimChances's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=165 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107110 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

hmm... i just tried a runaround and attempted to rename the Squeezebox folder but got an error saying that a folder or file was being used by another process. i had no programs running and nothing came up via Task Manager. this is annoying. narlus's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1825 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107110 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Logitech Media Server 7.9.0 is out!
i had the last release of Slim Server (7.5.5?) installed but it kept hanging up during a library scan, so i did some digging and found this thread. voila, a fresh version! so, i attempted to install it. no dice. got this error: [image: http://i.imgur.com/ozPNcJk.jpg] so i uninstalled Slim Server completely, and tried to re-install. nope, same error. so i tried to delete the file that seemed to be giving me problems, but couldn't even under admin privileges: [image: http://i.imgur.com/6XV7fE4.jpg] i am running Win 10. any ideas? narlus's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1825 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107110 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

The method I came up with was, from a terminal window logged in as root, enter: Code: service squeezeboxserver stop (I checked the web interface to see that LMS was no longer active - success!) then use Filezilla to delete the two huge files Back to the terminal window and enter: Code: service squeezeboxserver start I'm including the steps in case anyone else stumbles on your answer and needs to find out how to do it. No doubt there are other, and perhaps easier ways! Refreshing the web interface a short while later showed LMS active once more, and it seemed to have kicked straight into a rescan with no noticeable delay. I'll have some more music to add to the library in the next day or two so will keep an eye on the time the next scan takes to get going. Meanwhile, the new artwork.db file is 52,109,312; library.db is 120,866,816; reported scan time was 40 mins. ..db files. How big are they? artwork.db is huge - 2,372,286,464 library.db is next - 122,447,872 Yeah, I think that's it. Shut down LMS, delete these two, restart. This will trigger a new scan, of course. But I changed something in 7.9's cache handling which needs the library file to be re-built from scratch to take effect. -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Logitech Media Server 7.9.0 is out!
Thanks Michael - "yum clean all / yum update" gave me this version of LMS - "Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.0 - 0.150.20161204git1480516903 @ Sun Dec 4 22:31:21 GMT 2016" All the Linux and other details are the same as before this update. Still pretty old... "Clear library and rescan everything" started after a much shorter delay, about 6 or 7 minutes before any activity showed on the information tab of the settings screen. Scan time was 00:35:52, the usual sort of time for my collection. Could you check your cache folder, in particular the size of the various .db files.
