[freenet-support] high pInstantReject and SUB_MAX_PING_TIME

2011-03-16 Thread Mike
Hi !
Is it a problem when pInstantReject is at 9,6%
and the Rejection Reasons look like these:

 Preemptive Rejection Reasons
 1960 >SUB_MAX_PING_TIME
 417>MAX_PING_TIME
370Output bandwidth liability: fairness between peers
 8 >MAX_PEER_QUEUE_TIME

 Local Preemptive Rejection Reasons
 291>SUB_MAX_PING_TIME
130Output bandwidth liability: fairness between peers
 55 >MAX_PING_TIME

Im not sure, but the pInstantReject value is probably far too high (9,6%)
and the first Reject Reason (SUB_MAX_PING_TIME) is also not typical.

My Bandwidth is set to:
Input = 800 KiB/s
Output= 80.0 KiB/s

Freenet 0.7.5 Build #1356 build01356
Freenet-ext Build #26 r23771

any ideas?
thank you
-Mike

[freenet-support] Store Type: RAM or salt-hash ?

2010-11-07 Thread mike
>> Somehow Robert got his client cache disabled. Please could some people check
that their client cache is set to salted-hash (not ram), and is of a reasonable
size? You need to check the core settings page in advanced mode. The wizard is
supposed to set this up but it is possible there is a bug.
>

hi,
my Client Cashe was also set to RAM / 10MiB,
I changed it to Salt-hash.

But I accidentally found Store Type section in the Core Settings Page and it
says:
"Datastore type. Currently this can be salt-hash (this is the default, stores
data on disk with a lossy hashtable and a Bloom filter), bdb-index (old store
format, not recommended), or ram (FOR TESTING ONLY, keep the index and the data
in memory, not on disk). Only use ram if you know what you are doing and have
enough RAM to store all your data (and note it will not be saved on
shutdown)! ..."

my Store Type was set to RAM,
I never played with this setting, it was set default to RAM.
Should I change it to salt-hash ?

thanks

[freenet-support] install/uninstall problems

2010-01-08 Thread mike+21pronto.com
Hi there,
I installed your programme which seemed all right but it is
inaccessible - not on the desk top, not through Windows Start button and not
through Start/run. When I try to uninstall it does not appear in the uninstall
list and there seems to be no uninstall programme in programmes/freenet

How do I get rid of it so that I can get it back with the icons?

Re: [freenet-support] Piracy will not be tolerated

2009-11-07 Thread Mike Cook
Sorry, I was just trying to point out that some consider any mention of
sharing copyrighted material, however fleeting, as proof positive that
the whole purpose of the development of a technology is to "steal" their
"intellectual property" . Personally I think the whole notion of
copyright has gotten a little out of hand recently. I just was
suggesting people should try to edit themselves on a public email list
and try to avoid possible legal issues. Maybe a total ban was a bit
extreme, perhaps a warning would have sufficed, but I'm not really
familiar with all of the legal implications. Have a good day

[freenet-support] uninstall comment page error - suggestions

2009-03-26 Thread Mike Steiner
Here are my suggestions - not sure if they went through:

Have some easy way to pull over BitTorrent content (for example, after
downloading something with a BitTorrent client, use Freenet to open
that file/dir using an Import option, which would start the Freenet
client uploading it. If this is made easy and obvious, people could
easily start moving content over, and there would be more stuff on
Freenet.

[freenet-support] CPU pegging at 100% since 5085

2004-07-26 Thread Mike Z

Since upgrading to 5085 (and 5086), Freenet is using up a huge amount
of processor time, to the point where the web interface no longer even
responds. This doesn't happen every start, but once it occurs, freenet
has to be killed and restarted. It sometimes happens when first
started, sometimes after running for a while.

The machine is running Win XP, with a 3.2Ghz P4 with HT, and 1GB of
RAM. Both processor threads are pegged at full utilization, and freenet
is holding steady at about 150MB of RAM used.

Any help would be appreciated.

I just get these kind of error
messages.  I’ve tried reseeding with the default nodes, the nodes off the
  Freenet website, etc.  No dice.

  Network Error
Couldn't retrieve key: Hops To Live: 15Error: Route not Found
Attempts were made to contact 4 nodes.

  2 were totally unreachable.

  2 cleanly rejected.

Route Not Found messages mean that your
node, or the rest of the network, didn't find the data or enough nodes to send
the request to. You should retry, with the same Hops-To-Live; if it persists,
there may be a problem (check that your internet connection is working). Try

[freenet-support] man, traffic picked up tonight.

2002-10-28 Thread Mike
I was running from 1% usage and 35%

now, for the last hour i have 100%

here are my stats thus far.

  a.. Current routingTime: 4772ms.

b.. Active pooled jobs: 22264 (188.57143%) [Rejecting incoming
connections and requests!]

c.. Available threads: 289It's normal for the node to sometimes reject
connections or requestsfor a limited period. If you're seeing rejections
continuously the node is overloaded or something is wrong (i.e. a bug).
  d.. Current estimated load: 100.0%.

and at this point im very active on my node. :P

guess thats what i get for sharing so much resources.. lol

i might increase the bandwith later to allow even more traffic on my node.
:P

BTW, earlier today i was on a site that listed freenet sites. what was that
url again

mine has been up to 89% at times. i think this is due to the /. effect at

if the 100 % stays too long, just restart the freenet :P

Your server is fscked. My client does not send HTML attachments, it uses

boom, try this...

right click on the rabbit, and select configure and select the Fproxy,

for giggles. set the port to 8081
to test the connectivity.
I was using the default port and i had the same issue. changed it to
8081 (it is the default for the 0.4 release) and now i get many sites.

:P laters.

Hi there :)

Nice software.. I totally think this is an excellent idea for protecting
peoples freedom of speech and expression, if too radical for many people
from the US to deal with ;) At any rate, I am running as a 24/7 node with
port 2 as my fproxy port. I can't connect to *any* sites other than the
main portal linked to on the front page. Even when setting the hops as high
as 50 or so, i get absolutely no response from any sites! I definitely have
no local network issues, no blocked ports or conflicting apps... Grrr.. Any
ideas? Maybe it's because I'm in the UK? There can't be too many nodes
locally yet..

 Thanks in advance

[freenet-support] NodeConfig, missing .dll error

2002-10-09 Thread Mike F

The most recent(and perhaps the one before that) freenet-webintall.exe comes
with a nodeconfig that requires MFC70.DLL which I don't have. I'm running
win98/IE5.5sp2(not default browser though). I was going to just download
the dll but I found that two sites that had it also had differant file sizes
so I didn't trust either of them. I also only have one line in my
freenet.ini "storeCacheSize=0" so I didn't want to run my node. If this is
going to be required, it maybe a good idea to have a link where to get this
dll from a safe site.

2002-06-14 Thread Mike Clemons

I run windows xp and build468, I have norton
internet security and black ice defender. I have been running a node off and on
for about 8 months and my node no matter what i do my node has never allowed
incomming requests. Ihave tried to configure the firewalls but it doesnt help. I
have even tried running my node without the firewalls or the firewalls disabled
(that includes the firewall that comes with xp) and i have the freenet folder
set to share but still no luck. People have told me before that I have to export
the ports that freenet uses to the firewall, but i have no idea how to do that
and and as far as I can tell everything is set up properly. My node doesnt seem
to have a problem contacting others, it just wont allow incomming. I also have
nodeinfo and nodestatus enabled. any help would be greatly
appreciated!
