Hi.  I have installed 2.46 as I was told that it most stable.  The only problem 
is that the only language choice is Germsn and I cannot understand the menus.  
Would someone please provide me with an exact link to an english version of 
2.46 or other stable version.  I am mostly happy with the performance of this 
version but would like be able to use the menus.

Thanks.  I ask because this is a new  install of sm on a clean computer and 
profile files were previouslyv saved in various places so using profile in sm 
does not work.  Only an exploerer earch has a chance.

time SM wanted to "correct" "Außerdem" and I clicked OK without looking, 
so it was "corrected" into "Legerdemian"! So, just on spec, I stopped 
the spell check and went to Edit->Undo ... and had my "Außerdem" back!!! 
Yah!!)

Blocked by Java Security.

But   Bugger, at other times, when I've gone to Tools->Add-On

So, this time, the Java test page told me I had Java 8U101 installed,

Java is installed separately from SeaMonkey, and SeaMonkey doesn't
install it on your computer. Installing Java is something you would have
to do yourself. Assuming you're on Windows, you should see in the
Windows Control Panel, and be able to uninstall it from there.

I don't think you should worry about any sites requiring Java. I
uninstalled it around 10 years ago, and haven't had a need for it. The
websites you visit may be different, but it's a very safe assumption
that you won't need it.

Chris, if you were to go to a site which "required" Java to function the 
way the developers wanted it to work, would you likely get some message 
asking you to turn on ("Click Here") Java for "best User interaction"??


Or would you just get a basically blank/black page??

Windows SM also has a file type *.sbd, which appears when a mail folder 
has one or more subfolders. For example, I have a folder structure like 
this (as viewed from inside SM):


Sent
└2006
└2007
└2008
└...

And the corresponding files are
Sent
Sent.msf
\Sent.sbd
 └2006
 └2006.msf
 └2007
 └2007.msf
 └2008
 └2008.msf
 └...

So if I wanted to transfer my entire Sent folder, I would copy the files 
Sent and Sent.msf and the folder \Sent.sbd.

Click Help > Troubleshooting Information, or enter about:support into 
the address bar, then click the Open Directory button in the Application 
Basics section.


That will show you the location of the profile you are using. The other 
profiles should be in the same location.

CTRL-SHIFT-A

Choose "Plugins" from the menu at left.

Look for a listing like this:
Java(TM) Platform SE 8 U101

At the right, you'll see a button with the options
[Always Activate]
[Ask to Activate]   
[Never Activate]

The first option will just run Java whenever a website wants to. The 
second option will prompt you for a decision each time a website wants 
to run Java. The third will just ignore the request without asking you.


Choose as you think best.

If you want more details, click "More."

Java has been a security concern for years. Your statement about Chrome is 
false. SeaMonkey and Firefox do not use Java either.

Name some. I don't know of any mainstream web sites that require Java. I 
hope you are not confusing Java and *JavaScript* which is a completely 
different thing.

Regarding images in your email, do you mean embedded or attached images, 
or *remote content*?

I've seen pretty good speed improvements from 2.45 > 2.46 > 2.47b.
2.46 is pretty stable though and I agree, it's good to use his build.

No and it's unlikely this will happen in the near future. Not only

builds. 2.46 has almost a 100 fixes in the SeaMonkey code alone compared 
to 2.40. Bug reports against Adrians builds are accepted.

Well, it'll be based on the latest stable Thunderbird/Firefox for one
so bug and security fixes included. Plus you'll get a major speed
boost from the Electrolysis stuff. I just bumped up to the 2.47 beta
and man it is way fast on my Dell laptop from 2008 than even 2.46 was.

You can grab a stable build of 2.46 built by a Moz developer from
here: http://goo.gl/9R2c0i

It's based off Firefox 49 and, I am assuming, Thunderbird 45.3.0. Give
it a shot.

First check this pref:

Edit | Preferences | Privacy & Security | Images:
Image Acceptance Policy
Specify how SeaMonkey handles images.
(o) Do not load any images
(o) Only load images that come from the originating server
(•) Load all images

This pref, if you choose the first setting, will block all images in 
HTML messages regardless of their source. I recommend the third setting, 
provided you also set:


Edit | Preferences | Mail & Newsgroups | Message Display:
General
...
[x] Block images and other content from remote sources

Setting this pref will block remote images such as web beacons and show 
only images that are actually embedded in HTML messages.
