We'll be doing a NYC mapping party sometime in (probably) late August, in

Um, so, anyone can go set one up. Please do!
Just because some people hate Facebook doesn't mean you shouldn't cater

I see that a mapping party is planned for Boston this month. This is
awesome, and if you are nearby, you should attend.

There is also a mapping party on that date in Sherbrooke, Quebec.
But why aren't there ten times as many
Agreed. Our mapping parties and meetups in Seattle have been awesome.

I've been to a successful mapping party in NYC, which was run by CloudMade.
The meetup.com group still exists, and someone is funding it. I don't know
anyone specific who is still working with it though.

We're overdue to host a mapping party in the DC area. We'll organize one at
a meetup to be held sometime in the next two weeks (likely coinciding with
WhereCampDC, 10-11 June). So look for an event in WashDC before end of
June...
I helped organize and conduct a very successful mapping party at

There is a fee to set up a group on Meetup. Someone had such a group in Tampa,
and held a mapping party that introduced me to OSM. That was the only

There's meetup and they also have a meetup everwhere product which is

I can't wait to set one up once I get to SLC. Anyone know of existing
communities there?
Obvious targets for spreading the word seem:
* The Society for Beer and IT (sic) [1]
* The Geography department at the U.
