If you're using end-of-life operating systems, you have to accept that at some point you'll have to keep using old programs, too. Writing a HTML viewer is far from trivial, and there's a good reason that The Bat switched from internal viewer to CEF (though I'd still prefer if Edge WebView2 was used instead, since that gets security updates from the OS, so a new TB release wouldn't be needed due to CVE-2023-4863). -- < Jernej Simončič ><><><><>< https://eternallybored.org/ > The more campaigning, the better. -- O'Brien's First Law of Politics TheBat! Re: 10.4.0.17 gives me error of wrong CEF version on Windows 10 / same with 10.5 over 10.4.0.17
I have an explanation of the immediate effect in the meantime: there seems to be a mix-up between install folders. To my, displeasure, since several versions TheBat! seems to install into two folders: program files and localProfile/TheBat. (Why are these two locations used anyway?) Now, regarding CEF, there were two sources present: - program files/CEF had the version 103.0.12.0 - local profile had 1.2 GB worths of different versions (isn't that getting cleaned - waste-of-space-wise?), one of them the current one, 117.1.5.0 But TheBat! 10.5 seemed to only regard the program files/CEF location where the old one was present. When deleted, no CEF would be found. I had to manually copy the current CEF from local profile into the program files/CEF path. Which CEF location should TheBat! regard or prefer - and why is there the entire big historic collection in the local profile if it's not being used? Thank you, best regards Viktor , Donnerstag, 5. Hello Ritlabs, When working at the HTML editor, kindly also fix the rather annoying font change problem: https://bt.ritlabs.com/view.php?id=2147 When composing HTMLs email, I always have to highlight some paragraphs and change to font back, otherwise I'd have two different fonts in my email. I observed such freezing after installation of new 10.4.0.9 beta version on 64-bit Windows 11. Using "/NoDirectX" parameter did not help. Only complete deinstallation of The Bat! (including deleting RIT key in Windows register), and next the pure installation of 10.4.0.9 beta helped me. Of course, the Mail directory was remained intact when The Bat! was deinstalled, so I could use it without problems. Hello Stefan, I am getting many AVs which seem to occur every time an email is received. I have removed Anti-Spam Sniper and the rate of AVs has diminished somewhat but not completely. Re: 10.4.0.6
Hi Stefan, Thank you so much for your reply! This bug starts on my system from v9.5 as I remember. During this time one antivirus solution already replaced to another. I also test it before opening case on the bugtrack. About changing template... I have 20 mailboxes with a lot of templates. Please recommend me a simple way to replace this picture in 50+ templates. Manually replacing need a lot of time and too annoying. Thank you. Tuesday, July 4, 2023, 1:08:43 PM: Hello Sergey, Within The Bat! itself, the file is open for reading and completely share aware (the fix attempt was overriding default access mode - ShareDenyWrite), so the only thing I can think of is you have some software like antivirus that intercepts access to the file on the system level and opens it for write. If it's done on the system level, file is shown as open and locked by TheBat.EXE but it can be anything. So, we give up on this issue for now. As a workaround, I would recommend to reedit the template - cut the image and then paste it back. Take a look at the source code to make sure it's not referred as a disk file anymore. Can't confirm this fixes. Same problem using latest v10.4.0.6 x64 nau after opening and reply to 7-8 messages. Mornin' All, > https://www.ritlabs.com/download/files3/the_bat/beta/v10/thebat_32_10-4-0-6.msi No offence, but instead of putting all that work into the - rather special and non-standard - Google Calendar implementation, wouldn't it make sense to prioritize the CalDav protocol? That, after all, is a proper standard, and speaking from experience with what Google calls IMAP I'd assume it's way less convoluted than Google's interface. Plus, CalDav certainly won't be cancelled on a whim, like Google's 3rd-party access very well might be at any moment. -- MfG, Altomailto: 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

My gut tells me: standard click yes, right click has already another function and shouldn't trigger the standard click response too. - In my case the document is a PDF, which is being viewed in an embedded Acrobat Viewer if I'm not mistaken and thus the potential for an exploit being launched thru it is not mitigated. -- Cheers Viktor Kabelacmailto:tbbeta-l...@kabelac.cz TheBat! 10.4.0.1 Pro (x64, no OTFE) on Windows 10.0 x64 19045 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Viewing Office attachments is safe because the code for conversion them into HTML is built in, does not run any scripts and protected against buffer underrun and other vulnerabilities. If a document cannot be displayed withing The Bat!, most probably it contains an exploit... -- Best regards, Stefan Tanurkov 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

That's a good work-around, thank you! BUT: this feature seems to me to have been meant to control the auto-preview on *standard click* - the right click does something different and, in my opinion, shouldn't trigger the auto-preview at all. Like this, I find it a security risk with users launching files they intended to treat with caution. -- Cheers Viktor Kabelacmailto:kabe...@rar.cz TheBat! 10.4.0.1 Pro (x64, no OTFE) on Windows 10.0 x64 19045 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
