I think what people, myself included, are looking for is something like the Agent newsreader's Keep flag which just prevents against accidental deletion/purging. The Park flag is especially ill-suited for this as currently implemented. +1 I could not have said this better myself. :-) Agreed. This is a major pain for me. Alexander I don't like the subjects to be altered (you have to think of it each time Alexander when you reply/forward unless you clean the subject in TB! with a Alexander regex-enhanced template for replies and forwards) - obviously, I'm using Alexander the x-text-classification header. :) I agree. My ISP filters spam and adds a header which I can configure, but I think I shall turn that off as I hate having ham which has [probable spam] in the subject line! Alexander This has other advantages: you can configure TB! to show the header, as Alexander well as the reclassification URL of PopFile in the header pane of the Alexander preview window, thus checking wether the Alexander classification is correct and, in Alexander case PopFile made a wrong classification, Alexander reclassify is only one click Alexander away. *nice* Good idea. Can I expect it to be faster then the current default plugin in V3.0? Alexander Depending on how much mail you get (well, being Alexander on this list alone brings Alexander quite some each day ATM...) it may be slower (but I used BayesIt only a Alexander very short time). After all PopFile is written in Perl, and Bayes analysis Alexander requires a database (mine is 1.4MB right now). I hope it's not slower, filtering seems to be slowing down email delivery right now for me. And my wife's is terrible, 23 emails taking 3 minutes, I have no idea why as she has a very small database. She's using v.3 also but that made no difference, nor did getting rid of the dozen .tmp files, compressing, etc. Alexander And be aware that PopFile can be quite a resource hog - using concurrent Alexander POP connections results in 100% CPU-load peaks Alexander during mail retrieval, and Alexander memory usage is something like 20MB here, always. Alexander Another note: of course, every Bayes filter Alexander requires training - it needs to Alexander know which messages is spam, which is ham, at Alexander least (but keeping only spam Alexander and ham apart is not all PopFile will do for you, of course). That is so Alexander much easier in PopFile with the use of magnets. For example, set up a Alexander magnet that will put every mail from this list Alexander into a bucket genuine (or Alexander whatever you want to call it) - PopFile learns Alexander from every magneted message Alexander and you have a big ham database in no time. I hall do that, good idea. [SNIP] Thanks to everyone who replied. The message finder will accept '', '|' and '~' special characters to denote AND, OR and NOT operations within the search string. If you need to be more sophisticated with your search string, you can also search using Regular Expressions by turning on the option on the Advanced tab. The Scope section allows you to specify which areas of the message should be searched. Most of these are pretty self-evident. The only one of these options disjointed from the original message itself is the Memo, which can be added to a message as a kind of post-it note. The other options all restrict the search to specific areas of the message - Sender, Recipient, Subject, Headers and Body and the ubiquitous Anywhere option, which includes all of the other options. The Look in folders section allows you to quickly specify which accounts and folders should be included when looking for the message you are trying to track down. In order to work with sub-dClick right button of mouse to bring up a popup menu where you can Select All (Ctrl+A), Unselect All (Ctrl+U), Select including sub-folders (Ctrl+S), Unselect including sub-folders (Ctrl+I). The Advanced options allow you to place further constraints on the search. DW I put %Reply-To=[EMAIL PROTECTED] in my reply template for the DW folder, but it didn't have an affect. That wouldn't influence the address your replies are beingsent to, but that changes the address that answers to your messages are being sent to. I don't know whether that was what you intended Nope, I see what you mean now. When you want to do a list reply, you might choose for several options: 1) Right mouse click on the To: header of the incoming message and go for 'Reply to this address' Trouble is, I forget to do it! When I remember, I do that. 2) Use CtrlShiftF5 or via the menu Message-Reply to All in order to reply to the message, that way the message both gets sent to the original poster and the list. This might cause the OP to answer you off list, but you can't get everything. True, not a bad solution but I know I don't like getting 2 replies. 3) Create a folder reply template that sets the To-address to the list. NOTE THAT THIS IS DANGEROUS!!! Whenever you might want to reply off list (with a personal message) you can be very embarrassed or even financially duped (depending on the message) by sending a message to the list without intending to do so. Don't think that this won't happen to you, it will, it happens to everybody with folder templates hardcoding the intended recipient. I think I can live with this on the mailing lists I have in mind. Knowing what what I've done is wrong and why, thanks to your response, I've just now put this in the reply template: %To=[EMAIL PROTECTED] But it's now going to both the sender and the list. Bearded Indians in the Caribbean: http://www.caribbeanconsulting.com/Sabaxyz/Will/EarlyHistory.htm There are many stories of bearded Indians. This one isn't scientific but it is typical: http://www.everettarea.org/tales/v02/v02c12.htm Captain John Smith wrote: [The Powhatans are] generally tall and straight, of a comely proportion, and of a colour browne...Their haire is generally black, but few have any beards http://state.vipnet.org/dhr/arch_NET/timeline/contact_indian.htm In other words, a few did have beards. More beards in Brazil: http://www.wargamesfoundry.com/library/brazilwood.htm Despite believing that if they grew beards or had their hair long at the front 'they might be seized and captured by these', some Tupinamb emulated the appearance of their French allies by growing beards. Re: Selective Download Filter Syntax
Quoting Thomas Fernandez [EMAIL PROTECTED]: [SNIP] By now I am of the opinion that the ISP should delete Swen server-side. They should have an interest in eradicating it, as it is costing them a lot of bandwidth and therefore money, it annoys the users, and enough users might click on them and spread it further. Two of my ISPs have now started using Interscan VirusWall (I am sure there are other products) and I merely get a message saying: Receiver, InterScan has detected virus(es) in the e-mail attachment. My POP3/smtp provider (not my ISP0 puts email through 3 virus checkers, and I get a similar message. As they are coming through at a rate of over 1 a minute it seems a good idea. But it's a paid option. The impact of this volume on ISPs must be huge. I imagine some are cracking under the strain. Connection times out
Trying to pick up my wife's email, it always times out before I can delete the spam. I've looked for a setting (v 1.62) and can't find one, am I missing something? Thanks. Filter to set high priority flag park still send to right folder
Hello, It's easy enough to filter messages so that a message from a certain person is parked and the high priority flag set, but it doesn't look obvious how I can NOT let it go to its own folder but to the folder set by other filters. I don't have a choice of 'don't send to folder yet'. What am I missing? Using V2. Thanks. Thebat! only used by spammers?
I was wondering why my email to my brother kept being rejected. I thought it was rejecting my ISP, but when I switched to a POP3 mailbox hosted independently of any ISP it was still rejected. My host asked why, and was told: That message (or messages from that sender to that recipient) was the first non-spam use of an X-Mailer of The Bat! in an extremely long time. (I went back several months in the logs.) It's a real client, but it seems like nobody other than spammers use (or forge) it. TheBat! keeps saying it is unregistered!
Hello, If I shut down TheBat! and try to run it again, it comes up without any of my email and saying it is unregistered. I have to reboot my PC to get it right. Any suggestions? Thanks.
