The %HDR macros woere left in for backward compatibility. If this is the case, the %HDR macro should never have been allowed to survive the (Beta) test phase in the first place. Its flaw is very very easy to spot. If some basic testing had been done it would never have made it into the following public release version. The doubling of the Value is a side-effect of the way that macros are executed during the editing process (twice). This is the reason for the %MODIFYONCE macro. Problem with %HDR macro
Hello fellow TBUDlers, TB! has the possibility to add user-defined headers to messages. First you have to define these headers (Options - Preferences - Viewer/Editor - Message Headers), then you can use these headers by inserting the associated macro into a template. The header definition window has this to say: Note: You can also set/edit those fields in the message editor and refer to them in templates using %HDRhhh and %HDRhhh='...' macros where hhh is the header's RFC name. When trying to use this macro there is however a problem. If there is a - in the header's RFC name (like in User-Agent) it doesn't work. For example, if I put %HDRUser-Agent='The Beta!' in a template, my message-body (literally) starts with -Agent='The Beta!' and the User-Agent header stays empty. I think this might be a bug in the %HDR macro but I'm not absolutely sure. Maybe it needs some extra ()'s or s to make it work. I don't know. There is also a bug in the Edit Header Field window. AVG 6 found it but couldnt get it until I turned off system_restore and rebooted to safemode. In your previous message you stated it was AVG version 7 (and not version 6) that took care of the job. So AVG 6 blatantly overlooked 53 files infected by 4 (FOUR) different viruses? I find this hard to believe. So it isnt hearsay ... (You can find this under: Account - Sorting Office/Filters and then: Actions - Export messages to file. The Unix Mailbox format has some major advantages compared to other backup methods. Most important: all messages are saved in one (ASCII) text formatted file, which makes the backup much less accident-prone than any proprietary backup format. Second: most email programs know the Unix Mailbox format, which makes it easy to exchange messages between these programs. On the other hand, reading messages that don't seem to be too interesting at first sight _can_ help you to understand certain aspects of the program better or provide you with useful information you didn't know of before. That doesn't bring back the former folder structure but at least gives you the opportunity to build a new one using the old filtering system. Using an external editor with The Bat! (Was: Re: The Bat Interface)
On 21-09-2000, 11:14:59 +0100, Graham wrote: Heres a serious suggestion about The Editor. Couldn't future 1.4x versions of TB allow an external text editor to be used if required. Can be done already. Actually it is quite easy. What you need is a keyboard macro program that has the ability to start an external program (like the ASCII text editor of your choice) and switch windows (Keyboard Express 2000, http://www.keyboardexpress.com fits my needs perfectly). All you will have to do is run it and teach it how to copy/paste text between the TB editor and your preferred text editor. To make it even easier for you, here is the Keyboard Express output of the particular macro hotkeys I use to 1) hand over the message editing to my favourite editor TextPad and 2) copy it back to TB. (It is possible to copy/paste the "Text:" information from this message into the KE macro editor window (just treat it as a single line), however you'll probably need to do quite some adjusting and fine-tuning in order to make it work on your system.) 1) Hot Key: Ctrl+Alt+Right Arrow Name: ToText Window: Edit Mail Message, Top Most Only Text: CTRLaCTRLcALTSPACEnDELAY:00.50LAUNCHYES:00TextpadLAUNCH:C:\PROGRA~1\TEXTPAD\TXTPAD32.EXEALTSPACEmCTRLvCTRLENDENTER 2) Hot Key: Ctrl+Alt+Left Arrow Name: ToBat Window: TextPad, Top Most Only Text: CTRLaCTRLcALTSPACEnDELAY:00.50ACTIVATE:Edit Mail MessageALTSPACEmCTRLvCTRLHOME And here is a short explanation of what it all means: 1) - Hot Key: Ctrl+Alt+Right Arrow Keyboard shortcut to invoke macro. - Name: ToText Handle of macro - Window: Edit Mail Message, Top Most Only Only process macro if TB Editor Window is active and on top. - Text: CTRLaCTRLc Mark All and Copy to clipboard ALTSPACEn Minimize TB Editor Window DELAY:00.50 Take a short break LAUNCHYES:00TextpadLAUNCH:C:\PROGRA~1\TEXTPAD\TXTPAD32.EXE If TextPad is already active, switch to it, otherwise start it. ALTSPACEm Maximize TextPad window CTRLvCTRLENDENTER Paste text and put cursor at the bottom 2) - Hot Key: Ctrl+Alt+Left Arrow - Name: ToBat - Window: TextPad, Top Most Only - Text: CTRLaCTRLc Mark All and Copy to clipboard ALTSPACEn Minimize TextPad Window DELAY:00.50 Take a short break ACTIVATE:Edit Mail Message Reactivate TB Editor window ALTSPACEm Maximize TB Editor window CTRLvCTRLHOMEPaste text and put cursor at top Basically that's it (I won't bother you with the other clever shortcuts I've programmed in KE to make my live with the bat out of hell a little bit easier). Well uhm... Why not consider it a plug-in, just like those PGP dll's? ;-) Without my having to use macros. Once KE is up and running you won't notice its presence anymore. It just resides in memory and allows you to use the shortcuts as if they were an accessory of The Bat. But I will look into it! I forgot to mention that KE, like TB, is trialware. You can use it for 30 day before having to pay. So if you don't like it or don't want to pay for it you may want to take a look at winfiles.com or nonags.com for a free alternative. As I was getting closer and closer (practice makes perfect) with each try I was finally able to disable the darn thing on the fifth attempt. Here's an easier solution: - Start Windows Explorer and open C:\...\TheBat_dir\Account_dir - Rename Account.srx to Account.srk - Start The Bat! and disable "Check mail at startup". - Close The Bat! - Rename Account.srk to Account.srx - Start The Bat! and remove the annoying filter. Re: exporting to unix mailbox

There were other problems with exports and imports, but the ones i know of are fixed in the latest stable release 1.45 (and there were some improvements. you can now export with the Save As dialog). I see you are using 1.44; perhaps you could try upgrading to 1.45? The Unix mailbox import bug still hasn't been fixed satisfactorily in The Bat! 1.45 (and 1.46b3). Earlier versions used to trip over _any_ line in the message body starting with "from " or "From ", assuming it to be the begin of a new message. This behaviour has improved insofar it now only gets caught on lines starting with "From ". Or you could inspect the huge file. Is every message separated from the next one with an empty line followed by a line starting with "From"? That's only partly correct. The exact syntax of the separator line should be like this: |From account@domain Sat Aug 26 17:48:01 2000 (excluding "|") ... or, as a PCRE compatible RE: |^From[ ].+@.+[ ]+[A-Za-z]{3}[ ]+[A-Za-z]{3}[ ]+[0-9]{2}[ |]+[0-9]{2}\:[0-9]{2}\:[0-9]{2}[ ]+[12][0-9]{3}$ (excluding "|") Arjan -- -- -- View the TBUDL archive at http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com To send a message to the list moderation team double click here: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe from TBUDL, double click here and send the message: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] -- You are subscribed as : archive@jab.org
