It may only work if you send the date before it locks to GPS. That is you
need to do something like:

Jarl,
Thank you for your help on this. It appears that either; the CPU has a bad
output pin, some unknown command has turned the heater off, or the firmware
is programmed that way. The 10 MHz frequency had always been very 'stable',
and I didn't know there was a problem until I bought a 2nd HP

you can also preset the receiver to the factory settings:

for the SCPI command reference you can see the manual:

Use a multimeter to see if the DB25 pin 2 is -12V, if so you have a
standard RS232 serial port. Then connect to it, use a USB-RS232 interface
if necessary, and type SYST:STAT?
you will see the status page out of the Z3805 (use 9600,N,8,1 for the

On the unit I bought from fluke.l, with a Samsung label, there are two

RS-232. The top port has only three wires (TXD, RXD, SG) and I think is
used for some sort of monitoring.

Very interesting. I haven't had the time to compare the Samsung branded units

I don't know a lot about the Z3805 variations other than what's on

Dear Group,
Good evening. I bought two HP Z3805A units a few weeks ago. They were bare
