I'll give an example off what can be achieved with switches and static

As others said if one uses true static ip ( not dhcp reservation ) you
can build the entire lan with only switches. That is a local area

Where do you go to download previous SBS versions? (I've searched for
~45 min and come up empty.)
I'm planning to buy a second Touch for our cabin, downloaded SBS last
night and got v7.6.0. Needless to say, I'd like to stick with 7.5.1
for a while...
Thanks for your help,

Sure you can go back. You can back out of the prompts to update by
holding down left arrow button on Touch's remote or doing a L-to-R
swipe on the touchscreen. If you don't want the prompts then it's also
advisable to (a) turn off the automatic software updating option, and
(b) never, ever connect
Yes, there is an option to do this!

then not getting the additional menus, until i rebooted it manually.

I'm sure I found a setting somewhere for this - but my memory is
failing!
If I'm playing a radio stream, then switch off, can the Touch power on
restore the same radio stream as playing. At the moment the station
comes back but doesn't play unless I hit the play button.
Is there a setting, or

This setup has been extremely reliable (for over a year?) and sounds

I'm eager to try 7.6, but not until the bugs have been subdued.

With the exception of the new 7.6 "upgrade" to SBS, my experience with
the Touch has been error free. The best way to utilize the Touch (in my
opinion) is to store all your music on an external computer running SBS.

Can you confirm that the files play okay using the Win 7 server? If
so, then you're correct in assuming it's a TinySBS problem.

You say you can't reliably play the files either with the TinySBS or
with the network SBS.
I still suspect that the format of your files is interfering with
playback - I suggest that you recode your files into a less demanding
format (eg. mp3).
If the problems still occur, then we can move on
