30% of your root partition (where the programs are installed) is occupied,
i.e., 5.1 GB out of 19 GB. Freeing space is not "necessary". You can do it (I
explained you two ways: from the "Synaptic Package Manager" or with 'sudo
apt-get remove') though. For example to have less applications
can someone tell me how to change the wifi password/wifi name in librecmc?
Sure, install TorBB, then start here maybe -->

This is a useful tip! Thank you.

You only have 1 GB of RAM (+ 3 GB of swap). Let us see the space left on your
disk:

Thanks a lot for these resources guys
Right now, I think Abrowser is getting updates. But IceCat is based on the
outdated and unsupported Firefox 38, and hasn't received an update in 5
months. So don't use IceCat. You could probably replicate the privacy
features in Abrowser with extensions and changes in about:config.
Also, if
you said, "As far as I understand you, the command you were given through IRC
is "sudo apt-get install trisquel-mini" and your system currently has both
Trisquel's default system and Trisquel Mini's base. Am I right??
Yes
thank you! here's the info:

One last thing: the programs not going through jack naturally play through
the computer's speakers.
Is there a way to prevent that?
Hi,
I just managed to make some new hardware work in full freedom.
I started qjackctl, found my hardware audio interface,
started other programs like audacious (in which I had to select the option
for jack compatibility)
then linked it to the system output.
I had to download a plugin for vlc,
thats crazy.
if you say so.
There are times when Abrowser doesn't receive security updates for months.
That sucks that they downgrade their performance and put limits on it. :/
It'd be nice if there was a completely open source software/hardware based
graphics accelerator but I know that would be a huge undertaking to build!
Quidam uses Trisquel. Stop the FUD.
^ exactly.
you can't use ppa's with debian. usually doesn't work right.
Let's go "command line". Like I explained, it is easier to give clear
instructions that way. Here is how you can read the amount of main memory
(mainly the RAM but also the swap, i.e., an extension of the main memory onto
the disk, hence much slower) that is available and used:
$ free -h
debian stable is no different.
You go here man, and verify you get the updated package a day later.

abrowser is fkn awesome.

basing it on debian would defeat the purpose of trisquel, why not just use
debian like you already do?
haha crazy this thread to turned into fixing a bug, I skipped over the FSF
philosophy part. but other then that great thread!
I left Trisquel myself a while ago for debian stable. The reason was
mostly for steam gaming. I'm not a 100% free only guy sorry. But Trisquel
is still good
O yeah.
So you thing that it is fine that Nvidia downgrades performance for their
older video cards through drivers and gpu's firmware. Nice example is Kepler
cards.
Hi, does exists some store like Aliexpress or eBay that runs without
JavaScript?
sorry for causing confusion. Thank you for explaining. I understand it enough
to know that ram is not the hard disk. When I looked at "Disk" I saw 160 GB,
so it seems I don't even have 2 GB. More confusion, i know, and I know how
frustrating it is giving tech support without seeing the
Cool! Thanks for sharing the info :)
The GPU performance state APIs are used to get and set various performance
levels on a per-GPU basis. P-States are GPU active/executing performance
capability and power consumption states.
P-States range from P0 to P15, with P0 being the highest performance/power
state, and P15 being the
You can do most (if not all) of your computing activities not touching the
terminal. For example, if you want to understand what eats up space on your
disk, you can use GNOME's "Disk Usage Analyzer" that shows you some kind of
pie diagram, every slice corresponding to the space occupied by a
What are pstates? Something to do with a performance level?
Hi lembas! :)
I care about freedom as well but I also have a deep passion for programming
3D graphics and would like to continue doing hobby projects on my GNU/Linux
setup. The rest of my development stack works great on Trisquel and I'm happy
to be moving over to the libre world. I sadly
