I had an galaxy s4 and decided to sell it and buy a galaxy s2 instead.
When i finally got it, i installed replicant on it - it was very easy!!

My dad also encountered something like this when he upgraded to Trisquel 7
(by using the option to upgrade to the new release). He ended up reverting
back to Trisquel 6. Maybe the release upgrade is leaving behind stuff that
shouldn't be there?
If freedom is your goal and you're willing to make some compromises (like
running a proprietary bios) then you can use a smartphone, but you should buy

free drivers so you'll have to go with a USB dongle.
