Funny, security vulnerabilities don't go away regardless if you bury your
head in the sand...
Fortunately alternatives exist.
This truly puts it into perspective just how deluded some people are and how
they are trying to convince people to not do good. It is simply to keep their
profit margins high, that is not a good motive in any sense.
Not always! I have a HP pavilion, i7 bought 1 year ago. It had a no Atheros
non-free software mini pcie card. I tryed 2 different Atheros mini pcie, and
both works with Trisquel. I had no problems. You must try before if it works
or not.
I mean the proprietary firmware mentioned on the fsf common distros page.
The problem is that you cannot always try before buying.
As far as I understand, you are talking about older cards that are not sold
anymore. The second-hand market is an option if you know what chipsets
Linux-libre handles and the vendor indicates the chipset.
You can get it from a PPA (which is supposed to only contain free software,
but you will use it at your own risks):
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-toolchain-r/test
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install libstdc++6
You mean 1% of the software Red Hat redistributes (and maybe supports),
right? As far as I know 100% of what Red Hat develops and distributes is
under a free software license. Please correct me (and point the proprietary
software) if I am wrong.
one very good way to keep your computer safe is only using a local network
you have control over or no network at all using only Ethernet cables on a
libre router
and just use a separate computer for any internet access that is at no point
connected to your local network

The package unattended-upgrades, in Trisquel's default system, may be
the reason why security updates need no authentication. It can be
reconfigured through the Synaptic package manager or with the command 'sudo
dpkg-reconfigure unattended-upgrades'.
no doubt!
OK, I bought a copy and gave you an additional $25 tip for going as far as

the business side of the campaign. In the UK there are gratis government

Sorry for any typos. I think hours of staring at a black-and-white screen has

Here is my new set up, I decided to mix old with new, I plan on re-doing all
my icons with my old-school pixellated icon goodness.
Enjoy!
What software did you use to make the PDF?.
Thanks a lot. That fixed the issue.
Some HP laptops have whitelist for their own pcie wifi cards, I have a i7
third generation laptop from HP, and I tryed 2 mini pcie wifi Atheros card
and both working.
I like it.
Maybe I would have emphasized the words freedom, privacy and market-freedom,
in bold or something. Same for Trisquel GNU/Linux. These are the selling
points.
Also, maybe borrowing from comparative advertising would help rive the point
faster and harder. In most people's minds,
Unattended-Upgrade::Allowed-Origins
{${distro_id}:${distro_codename}-security;};
Comment that line and see if the next security update will ask for
authentication.
First, with Gnome I feel like in the jail, too much things are not very
customizable. LXDE it is not bad but it is very downgraded.
Windows 8 it is horrible. Full downgraded.
Yes, Gnome for touchscreens will be better option I think, but not for
desktop.
I love apple stock GUI, but It is
I used Scribus.
Argh, that's too bad.
Gnome 3 does look more modern, and with the classic menu, still remains
familiar. Its strong point to me is it's reliability. I know I managed to
break Trisquel's current desktop bar, though it was an isolated case (but it
still not a good feeling).
As for the
Wouldn't it be nice we could just implement these features into a browser or
at least combine the features into a more sane single stable plug-in?
I tried a few, now I have these:

html5 video everywhere
Noscript for some rare js exceptions
Request Policy for redirections
Random agent spoofer for html5 and making tracking harder
self-destructing cookies
ublock origin
And only youtube-dl since the others rely on some
Thanks JadedCtrl.
I like this picture for its natural noise. It's a view of nature and it isn't
disturbing to find a file or folder on the desktop. Too much details and
colors let you work difficult on it. I keep it as a base of the environment.

Best regards,

I used Conky, it's a desktop overlay that lists just about anything you want
it to list. I used this Conky Script:
http://ubuntulife.net/how-to-install-conky-lua-in-ubuntu-12-04/
I then just made a Trisquel graphic for it, and picked the Fedora one, since
it was already blue.
Hope that
Gnome might not be a good desktop option for you, but it's still a good
desktop option, and a smart idea. Even if I don't use it, I think it should
be Trisquel's default, and here's why:
I learned recently that Gnome is interesting BECAUSE it's not highly
configurable (at first glance at
Technically, GNOME is already Trisquel's default, in the form of GNOME
flashback. (Semantics, semantics)
The problem with GNOME 3 being Trisquel's default is that it requires either
3D acceleration or a fairly powerful CPU for software rendering.
A lot of popular graphics cards don't have 3D
You may have to go with a USB wifi adapter as HP uses digital restrictions to
prevent swapping internal wifi cards. Best to avoid HP, Dell, Lenovo, Sony,
Apple, and Toshiba as these companies are notorious for making it difficult
to use free software. Not that other computers won't be a

I am just wondering what is the best wifi card for such a tablet to have.
(needs to be half height though I think.)
:)
You can be right too, I like web browsing with Ekinks. Text only!
grimlock, how do you get all these cool things on the right (temperature, the
clock with trisquel logo, CPU and RAM%, etc.)?
the thinkpenguin graphic card is pci express 2.0 x16?
Tryed 7300gt, gtx460, gtx970, yes, it says me that I have 3d acceleration,
but everything moving with extreme lag. Useless gpus.

That sounds interesting, but it would be a completely different game, I'm

It's possible I would be able to implement the feature if you paid me to do
it, depending on exactly what it does (your link is broken; you shouldn't

I want to eliminate my forum account of trisquel, but I do not find out how

It's more configurable than you think.
Indeed? See http://extensions.gnome.org
And see http://wiki.gnome.org/GnomeShell/CheatSheet (in particular the
keyboard shortcuts at the bottom of the page)
Thanks grimlok, that's easier than I thought it would be!

At the above art costs things like Stickers, Mugs, T-Shirts, Posters,

The KickStarter and IndieGoGo projects that fail are the ones that don't have
enough perks.
The pictured theme looks fantastical!
Hate Gnome, its very basic. GnomeXP.
No,
I don't believe so anyway. It looks like you need a full height mini pcie
