I switched to Edgy and use exactly the same xorg.cong file as in Dapper.
The problem is that after a startup or an hibernate, it seems that

Does this apply to Totem as well? I noticed that Totem has problems
opening files on SMB gnomevfs mounts. Perhaps this has something to do
with file locking (or something like that) which gnomevfs doesn't
implement properly?

I like my virtual terminals in 1024x768 resolution and thus I have always used
`vga=791` as a kernel parameter to get 1024x768 at the virtual terminals.
This worked fine with Dapper but it breaks the splash screen in Edgy. The
splash looks totally off-center both

yesterday, it happened again once after rebooting. Absolutely strange,
because I rebooted several times before and after that without problems into
Edgy. So there is still a problem with the Microsoft Optical USB Mouse, but
I can not reproduce it reliably.
My guess is that is

and then running

If end is last-used rather than first-free, then so do partitions 7 and
8.
I think the table had been manually edited with cfdisk to create those
partitions, and then Linux installed into the existing partitions, but I'm
not certain - it's been a long time.

Almost same here, upgrade from dapper to edgy, Matrox G400. But I didn't
see that lightening up, although it's possible I just missed it (only
have seen 1 boot of edgy :-))

I moved the contents of the directory to another temporary directory and
rerun the upgrade script. A message came up, that said I should run sudo
apt-get install -f and then rerun the upgrade script again. I did this.
Half way through the upgrade, the x server was shut down and did not
come up

Thanks for your bugreport.
This bug shows under rare circumstances when dpkg sends unexpected error
lines. I will attach a debdiff with a fix and the fix will be uploaded

So is there a solution for this available? Using KDE, updated via
changing sources.list and update dist-upgrade several times and hpijs
won't install. All other packages are ok.
In the end I was able to sudo apt-get install hpijs and after this
upgrade was ok.
